Chapter 421 Love Yourself First

Samuel said,In the end, she told Sebastian she only loved him and called me a loser. Can you believe that?"

His eyes were icy, but he still had this weird smile. "I've got nothing now, and thanks to Grace, Sebastian's got me under his thumb. Does this have nothing to do with me?"

Isabella thought, 'Man, that's rough.'

She gave him a complicated look, still playing it cool. "What's that got to do with me?"

Samuel leaned in, "Don't act clueless. You know Sebastian's hiding stuff. We can team up. I want Lynda to pay for what she did. And you need to expose Lynda's dirty laundry. We can nail this together, right?"

Isabella never underestimated Samuel. He had some serious clout in Silvercrest and was a dangerous dude.

She did want to get back at Lynda, but teaming up with Samuel? No!

Plus, Lynda's real target was Sebastian. She messed with Samuel to get to him. What if Samuel hurt Sebastian?

Isabella got more cautious. "Samuel, your plan's solid, but I can't roll with it. Good luck, though. Hope you get what you want."

"I won't hurt Mr. Lawrence," Samuel saw right through her and said bluntly, squinting with a mix of surprise and confusion, "Is true love protecting someone even when they hurt you?"

Isabella suddenly realized she was defending Sebastian.

Bitterness and self-mockery filled her.

Samuel's expression seemed to mock her pathetic state.

"Before you love anyone else, you gotta love yourself," Samuel's eyes showed pity. He patted her shoulder, "You love him more than yourself. He'll say something sweet, and you'll melt. This whole thing will be forgotten, like it never happened."

Isabella brushed off his hand, "Samuel, have some respect."

She turned and walked away.

"Isabella, men know men best. I see through you, and Mr. Lawrence sees through you even more. So what if he hides stuff and deceives you? Because of your love, Mr. Lawrence is fearless. He won't punish Lynda out of guilt, leaving you to suffer. Sure, he treats you well, really well. But Lynda's life won't get worse."

Samuel spoke slowly behind her, "She might come after you again. You should know, between you and Lynda, only one can come out on top."

Isabella lowered her head, breathing heavily. Samuel's words echoed in her ears, trapping her.

She wanted to run, but it felt like hands were grabbing her ankles.

Where could she go? Samuel was right.

Samuel walked closer, standing behind her. He noticed her slight trembling. Without seeing her face, he could imagine her pained and pitiful expression.

"Work with me. I have a plan. Punishing Lynda is easy. Hit me up when you decide." Samuel's hand hovered in the air but didn't touch her.

He took out a private business card and placed it on the windowsill next to her.

Isabella shut her eyes, glancing down at her stomach. She couldn't shake the memory of that bloody scene from not too long ago.

In that helpless moment, she thought she was gonna lose her babies and maybe even die.

Could she go through that again?

No way.

"If you've got a plan, why do you need me?" Isabella turned around, puzzled.

Samuel wondered the same thing.

He didn't really need Isabella. He had Lynda all figured out. Punishing her was a piece of cake.

So why bother?

To make things harder for himself?

"You're just too pitiful," Samuel said straight up, "I help you out, and you owe me one."

Isabella wasn't buying it. "Samuel, if we're talking cooperation, can you be more sincere?"

She stood in the light, her eyes bright, reminding Samuel of the first time they met in Silvercrest, her confident look.

He grinned, "Alright, I'll be honest."

Isabella said, "Spill it."

"First, I got tricked into getting Grace out of prison, which caused your car accident. I wanna make things right."

Samuel watched her reaction, paused for a couple of seconds, then continued, "Second, our blood types match. They're super rare. I need a mobile blood bank."

Isabella's face twisted in fear. "A mobile blood bank?"

Samuel laughed, the happiest he'd been in days. "I'm your mobile blood bank too. It's mutual. We need a backup. If something goes down and there's not enough blood, we're covered. Don't freak out, I'm not a vampire."

Isabella was speechless. 'What's so funny? A mobile blood bank sounds terrifying.'

But it made the deal feel more real.

"Happy cooperation," Isabella picked up the card, her tone flat, "I've got stuff to do. I'll hit you up when I'm done. Think about what I can do."

"Happy cooperation."

Samuel leaned against the wall, squinting lazily with a smirk.

Isabella noticed his casual clothes. It was cold, but he still had his collarbone showing. Despite being over six feet tall, he looked cunning.

Samuel and Sebastian were totally different, but they had one thing in common—they were both aggressive and super dangerous.

Isabella quickly looked away and nodded slightly.

This time, she really left.

Samuel watched her go, laughed, stood up elegantly, fixed his clothes, and left.

Isabella spent the whole day with Janet, and it was a blast.

Relaxed, free, carefree.

She could clear her mind, think of nothing, and just chill.

If she wasn't worried about Janet overthinking, Isabella would've stayed at the nursing home tonight.

"You're pregnant, so be careful and don't mess around, okay?" Janet reminded her before she left, poking her nose affectionately.

Isabella grinned and nodded like crazy.
