Chapter 98 I'll Die If I Lose You

Inside the mansion, there was a smell of mildew, not too strong, but still uncomfortable to smell. After all, no one had lived here for a long time, and even though someone would come to clean, it still lacked liveliness.

Lynda coughed from the smell, tears streaming down her face, which made Sebastian's heart tighten.

He held her and walked out, saying, "Let it be thoroughly cleaned, and then you can move in."

"Where will I stay tonight?"

"At a hotel."

"What about you?"

"I'll accompany you."

Lynda looked at him, her eyes still filled with tears from the earlier coughing fit, looking pitiful, making Sebastian avoid looking at her too much.

Just as he was about to turn his gaze away, Lynda started crying for real.

Tears fell from her eyes, sliding down her cheeks and gathering at her chin. She wiped them away with her hand, but they only multiplied with each wipe.

Sebastian furrowed his brows slightly, "Lynda..."

She turned around, facing away from him, and faint sobs could be heard.

"Lynda," he called her again, but she remained unmoved.

Sebastian's brows became so knotted that they almost formed a knot.

He had no choice but to go around her and stand in front of her. Lynda glanced at him with teary eyes and then turned her head away.

Sebastian grabbed her and pulled her into his embrace, softly asking, "What's wrong? Why are you crying so suddenly?"

"It's nothing, I just feel like crying by myself."

"Tell me about it."

Lynda shook her head, "Sebastian, it's nothing. Really, it's nothing..."

"Do you think I'll believe that?"

With tearful eyes, Lynda looked at him again.

Unable to bear seeing her like this, Sebastian sighed and wiped away her tears, "Who made you suffer? Crying like this..."

"Sebastian..."

"Yes?"

Lynda leaned against his chest, tightly hugging his waist, "When I was waiting for you in the garage, what were you discussing with Isabella?"

What were they talking about?

Sebastian paused and answered, "Some matters between her and me."

"Does it involve me?"

"...A little bit."

Lynda asked, "Since it's related to me, why didn't you let me listen?"

"Lynda," Sebastian patiently explained, "You don't need to know all of that. Take care of your health. Excessive worries will affect your condition. I will handle everything else."

She lifted her head from his embrace, "You didn't let me move into Willowbrook Estate because Isabella disagreed, right?"

"She didn't... even know about your existence before."

"You didn't mention me to her?"

"No."

Lynda looked at him, "But she knows now..."

"It was my decision to not let you move into Willowbrook Estate," Sebastian said. "There are hidden reasons within the estate..."

“There are people from the Lawrence family inserted into this situation, the Lawrence’s... don’t like you very much. For now, you can only live here alone. I'll come over whenever I have time to accompany you.”

"Even living together with you is a luxury, Sebastian."

"It will get better in the future."

Lynda inquired further, "For now, we're compromising temporarily, for a better future between us. Right, Sebastian?"

Sebastian nodded.

"In fact," she gently caressed his handsome face, "when I learned about your marriage while I was abroad, I felt sad and angry. I argued with you, got into fights with you, took out my frustrations on my own body, simply because I was scared."

"There's nothing to be afraid of."

"Are you not upset with me at all?" Lynda asked. "Sebastian, during this time, I did a lot of things willfully, including returning without notice..."

"It's all in the past."

Lynda felt relieved after hearing that. She stood on her tiptoes, intending to give him a kiss.

But... Sebastian slightly turned his head, avoiding it.

He evaded her initiative to kiss him... Lynda's heart instantly turned cold.

The previous Sebastian would never do this!

He patted her back and held her hand. "Lynda, since you're back, stay by my side. Everything else, just like before, won't change."

"Nothing will change, as always, including you?"

"Yes." Sebastian nodded, giving a very affirmative answer. "Including me."

Lynda looked at him and smiled, then once again nestled in his embrace. "Sebastian, I love you, I love you so much, I can't be without you. If one day I lose you, I will die, truly die."

"Don't say such foolish things."

Lynda simply hugged him tightly.

No matter what the situation is in New York now, no matter how the Lawrence family treats her, no matter what Isabella's appearance might bring... Lynda only knows that Sebastian is hers.

In this lifetime, he belongs to her!

Isabella... if you ever think of taking him away even for a second, I won't allow it.

Likewise, if Sebastian ever thinks of keeping you, I will make that idea disappear!

Lawrence Group.

After Sebastian left, the president's office became quiet and peaceful, silent.

Everyone looked towards the closed door.

Isabella was inside.

She sat in front of the desk, her petite figure sinking into the oversized chair, holding her knees. Her eyes were fixed somewhere, devoid of the vitality and liveliness she once had.

In her mind, the scene of Sebastian and Lynda embracing kept playing on loop.

She couldn't forget it no matter how hard she tried.

Sebastian, the person, despises anyone not related to him, even approaching him.

But he kissed Lynda, held her, and their actions were intimate and skilled, as if they had kissed many times before.

Indeed, they must have done it many times... when she didn't even know him.

Isabella took her phone out and dialed Brittany's number.

"Hello, Isabella," Brittany's voice came through. "What's up? What's the matter?"

"I've been thinking about a question for a long time, but I can't seem to figure it out."

"Tell me, I'll help you analyze it."

Isabella could hear the rustling papers on the other end. She thought Brittany must be busy with work, talking to her while attending to something.

Suddenly, Isabella felt melodramatic.

Isn't Brittany miserable? Betrayed by her boyfriend and cousin, and perhaps, in the future, she'll have to attend their wedding...

But Brittany lives so optimistically.

"...It's nothing," Isabella sighed. "Maybe this question doesn't have an answer."

"I've said it before, we are friends. Maybe I haven't been by your side for as long as Emily, but friendships are built step by step. Isabella, go ahead and speak out, it's hard to keep it bottled up inside."

Isabella clenched her phone, took a deep breath, and finally asked, "Brittany, tell me, am I the third party between Sebastian and Lynda, or is Lynda the third party between me and Sebastian?"

There was complete silence on Brittany's side for a moment.

The phone seemed to have been disconnected.
