Chapter 339 It's You Who Harmed Her

The Cooper family's living room was empty. Mr. and Mrs. Cooper had finished dinner and gone upstairs to rest, leaving only a few servants cleaning up.

Seeing a servant about to greet him, Marcus raised his hand to stop them and went straight upstairs.

Marcus knew that at this time, his father had not yet gone to bed and was definitely dealing with business matters in the study.

He headed straight to the study.

The study door was not closed. As he was about to push the door open, he heard his parents' voices inside.

Marcus was cautious, withdrew his hand, stood outside the room, and listened intently.

In the study, Mrs. Cooper placed a bowl of pear soup she had just made on Mr. Cooper's desk and smiled, "A few more years, and you can hand over the company to Marcus and retire peacefully."

Mr. Cooper sipped the pear soup to moisten his throat, and his usually furrowed brow relaxed a bit. "Yes, I need to toughen him up these few years. He's not steady enough. And he's fixated on someone he shouldn't love. If we messed up with the Lawrence family, it would be a fatal blow to the Cooper family."

"Hmph, that little wench," Mrs. Cooper looked disdainful, "Whenever our son encounters her, nothing good comes of it. I was really scared the last time. He was stabbed by a knife. He was willing to give up his life for her."

Mr. Cooper remained silent, shaking his head helplessly.

"But tell me, why didn't you help the Wallace family back then? Even if you didn't help the Wallace family, you should have helped Mrs. Wallace with her illness. It's just twenty thousand dollars; we can afford it, and you're not a heartless person." Mrs. Cooper couldn't understand this matter.

Mr. Cooper sighed, "The Wallace family went bankrupt. Although it was a matter of time, since someone was pushing things behind the scenes, we didn't need to get involved. The Wallace family's daughter was doomed to be with someone else. Whether to help or not is not up to me."

Seeing Mrs. Cooper looking puzzled, Mr. Cooper waved his hand. "Enough, let's not bring this up again. You should go rest."

"Sebastian, right?" a voice interrupted Mr. Cooper.

Mr. Cooper looked up abruptly. The door was pushed open forcefully, and Marcus stood at the doorway with a dark expression, staring at his father. He raised his voice, "The one pushing things behind the scenes is Sebastian! He didn't allow the Cooper family to help, right?"

Marcus had long discovered something fishy about this matter, but no matter how much effort he put into investigating, he couldn't find anything.

He never expected the truth to be like this!

Mr. Cooper couldn't help but furrow his brow, "Nonsense, get out."

"Sebastian, this scum!!" Marcus ignored his father's words, his chest burning fiercely, almost scalding his heart. "He did all this step by step just to take away my Isabella!"

"He set his sights on her since I was engaged to Isabella!"

The resentment of losing Winona overwhelmed him.

Marcus was furious!

Originally, he should have been the one to marry Isabella. Everything Sebastian now possessed should have been his!

Marcus's chest kept heaving, and red, bloodshot veins appeared in his eyes. He questioned word by word, "Dad, why do you have the right to make decisions for me? Do you know how much I love Isabella? I dreamt of the scene of our wedding, and in the end, she was taken away from me like this."

"Is money and status more important than anything?" Marcus pointed forcefully at his heart. "Is it more important than my happiness?"

A thought flashed through Mr. Cooper's mind. This was over.

He let slip a disaster.

"Marcus, how dare you speak to your father like this?" Mrs. Cooper, as the hostess of the house, was not foolish. She now fully understood the ins and outs of the matter.

Marcus had to be calmed down!

She hurried over, closed the door, grabbed Marcus's arm, and comforted him, "Let's go with the flow. You're already engaged; be careful with your words and actions. Heather is such a good girl. Forget about the others."

Marcus's eyes reddened; he pried open Mrs. Cooper's hands one by one.

He glared at Mr. Cooper, word by word, "You're afraid of him, but I'm not. I will expose Sebastian's despicable face to the public!"

"The dignified President of the Lawrence Group, scheming to take away my wife! I will show the whole world how shameless he is!"

Just as Isabella's "I believe in him" was so gentle and firm, Marcus's hatred for Sebastian was just as intense. A jealousy-fueled anger tormented his chest, making him unable to calm down.

Mr. Cooper quickly walked up to Marcus, raised his hand high, and mercilessly slapped Marcus across the face.

"You disobedient child! Have you not seen or heard about Sebastian's methods? For a woman, do you want me and your mother to accompany you to the grave?"

"The Cooper Group is a family business, but don't forget, that The Cooper Group supports not only our family but also thousands of employees and families!"

Mr. Cooper shook his head in disappointment, his chest heaving and his body swaying slightly.

He scolded, "You're twenty-seven. Sebastian isn't that much older than you. How can you be so childish?"

Mrs. Cooper looked at the clear five palm prints on Marcus's face, heartbroken and tearful.

She tugged at Mr. Cooper's clothes and choked up. "What are you saying? How can you, how can you speak to your son like this?"

Marcus's face was turned to the side by the slap, not moving for a long time.

It wasn't until he heard Mr. Cooper's words that he sarcastically laughed, "From start to now, you've been undermining my authority and criticizing everything I do. Now, you accuse me of incompetence. Don't you find that ridiculous?"

Mr. Cooper's face flushed with anger. His hand suspended in the air, trembling for a long time without striking down, he gasped heavily, "I have strived my whole life for excellence. Why have I raised such a block of wood like you?!"

"Stay with the Cooper family for this now! Think with your brain. What's more important, a woman or the company?"

Mr. Cooper, disappointed, withdrew his hand with force, grabbed Marcus's wrist, forcibly took away his phone, pushed him away with all his might, and opened the door wide.

Marcus didn't yield, his fingers creaking. He coldly snorted, "You grounded me again. Do you have any other fresh tricks?"

Mr. Cooper staggered and quickly grabbed the door frame, supporting his body for a moment.

Mrs. Cooper hurriedly rushed forward, supporting him, and turned angrily. "Your father is not well. How can you hurt his heart like this? That Isabella, she's nothing but trouble."

"What did she do wrong?" Marcus trembled. "It's you, it's Sebastian who harmed her. She was deceived and didn't even know. She's the most innocent one!"
