Chapter 301 He's Not a Jerk

Based on Isabella's calmness just now, Mr. Lawrence Senior couldn't let her divorce like this.
Besides, things are unclear, and Mr. Lawrence Senior believes that his grandson is not an impulsive person and he has to clarify things before making a decision.
Isabella bit her lip, her hand gripping and releasing, releasing and then gripping again.
She intended to tell the truth. Since it had come to this point, there was no need to hide anymore.
"Grandpa Lawrence, actually," she gathered her courage and explained, "between Sebastian and me..."
"Isabella, this matter is our Lawrence family's fault; rest assured," Mr. Lawrence Senior interrupted her once again, taking back the conversation. "After I figure it out, I will give you an explanation according to your needs."
At this point, saying anything more would be superfluous.
Isabella appreciated Mr. Lawrence Senior's promise. She forced a smile, about to express her gratitude, when the old man let out a long sigh. He lowered his head and waved his hand at her, "If you thank me again, it will only annoy me." At that moment, he appeared older.
Mr. Lawrence Senior walked away, his body slightly hunched, leaning on a cane. This was a stark contrast to his powerful and resolute speech just fifteen minutes earlier.
It made Isabella feel uncomfortable to see Mr. Lawrence Senior troubled and worried about their affairs. She wanted to apologize, but the words just wouldn't come out.
Isabella couldn't understand. Was she wrong?
Her nails dug deep into her palm, a faint pain bringing her back to reality.
The answer was clear... No!
If one had to point out a mistake, it would be that she misjudged someone and loved the wrong person.
"Isabella, let me accompany you upstairs to rest," Amber said. She had never encountered such a situation before, and she carefully unfolded Isabella's tightly held hand, not wanting her to hurt herself.
Seeing the marks on her palm, Amber felt even more distressed. Isabella didn't want to cause trouble for anyone, but lately, she seemed to be doing just that, becoming more and more annoying.
"I'm fine, Amber," Isabella said, "You have filming tomorrow, so get some rest."
Amber sensed the refusal and detachment in Isabella's tone. She said, "Isabella..."
Isabella, however, went upstairs, leaving only the sound of her footsteps on the stairs. Amber sat on the sofa, angrily dialing Sebastian's number, but the call to him went unanswered.
Amber's face creased in frustration as she kicked off her slippers, curling up on the sofa and hugging her knees.
Peter walked over silently, seeing her like this and shaking his head with a smile.
He bent down, picked up the slippers that Amber had kicked far away, and neatly placed them under the sofa.
As he did, Amber's head peeked out, meeting his gaze with a shy smile.
Her cheeks slightly flushed, she quickly averted her gaze and composed herself, saying, "You're here."
Then, realizing she was standing on the slippers that Peter had picked up, she felt even more embarrassed.
Amber lowered her head, awkwardly cleared her throat, and said, "I must have looked ridiculous, Peter."
The young girl hung her head, looking dejected. Peter, momentarily lost in thought, placed his hand on Amber's head when he snapped back. Her hair, soft and smooth under his palm, left Peter unsure of where to put his hand.
Just as he was about to withdraw his hand, Amber looked up at him, her expression filled with doubt. Caught in a dilemma, Peter rubbed her head and withdrew his hand, smiling, "Go upstairs and sleep, little girl. The world of adults is complicated."
Amber retorted, "I'm not a child anymore, Peter!"
"Yes, yes, you're not a child anymore," Peter continued in agreement, his eyes filled with sincere affection.
Amber pouted, "You definitely still see me as a child." she sighed, "Maybe I really am just a child. I don't understand why the party, which was clearly organized by Sebastian, ended up without him, who must really like Isabella."
The more Amber spoke, the more confused she became. "Peter, can you tell me why?" Amber genuinely wanted to know the answer, but she didn't know who else to ask. Right now, only Peter could provide her with an answer.
Peter was about to speak when Amber interrupted with a firm call. "Peter."
He raised her eyebrows and saw Amber lower her head, kicking the sofa twice. "He's not a scumbag, definitely not," she said.
Peter could only smile helplessly. Wasn't this just trying to cover up the truth?
Considering that Sebastian was the person closest to Amber, her beloved brother, Peter decided not to continue.
He said, "In a marriage, love alone is not enough; trust is also essential."
"Trust?" Amber asked, still needing clarification.
Peter nodded and said, "Yes."

Amber pressed on and asked, "Can you explain it in more detail?"
He chuckled and replied, "If you want me to continue, there will be a fee."
"Teacher," Amber spoke without hesitation, her clear eyes showing no fear or impurity.
Peter, however, couldn't bring himself to look at her, saying, "Little girl, it's time to rest. I need to go check on Sebastian as well," he said.
Amber felt a bit disappointed and agreed, "All right."
Peter smiled and turned away.
Amber watched his retreating figure and said, "Goodbye, Peter, I mean, teacher. If you have time, please answer my question. I'm just too curious." Without giving Peter a chance to refuse, she ran off after speaking.
Peter turned to look at her charming figure, waiting until she was out of sight before letting go of his fleeting thoughts. He chuckled self-deprecatingly and turned around. Suddenly, Jarod appeared in front of him, startling Peter.
"What are you looking at?" Jarod asked.
Faced with Jarod's gaze, Peter evaded slightly. After all, there were some things he couldn't even tell Jarod. He walked up to Jarod and pushed his wheelchair, saying, "I'm looking at Amber."
"When did you two become so close? You've been chatting for a long time," Jarod inquired.
"No, don't talk nonsense and tarnish her reputation," Peter said, gripping the handles of the wheelchair and suppressing his foolish thoughts. "Amber wants to find out why Sebastian ran away. I know what he is thinking, so I brought up the issue of trust. Perhaps it can help her figure out the crux."
Jarod pressed his temple and said, "Thanks."
Peter coughed, "Come on, don't be so polite. I can't take it."
"Something is wrong with you today," Jarod said with certainty. After so many years as brothers, how could he not notice Peter's odd behavior?
"All right, this is just how I am. And I also feel that something's off with you," Peter said, his palms a little sweaty because of nervousness.
On the second floor, Amber went straight to Isabella's room. She wanted to reconcile Isabella and Sebastian. So, she couldn't wait to tell Isabella about the "trust" issue that Peter mentioned, hoping that Isabella wouldn't be disappointed in Sebastian.
