Chapter 360 You Think You Can Get Rid of Me with Just a Million?

Sebastian held his breath, eyes tightly shut, frozen in place. A strong pulse engulfed his chest as if his eardrums were quivering from the intensity.

As time ticked by, the pulse gradually faded, merging into the depths of his being.

Just like the smiling and resolute Isabella before him, she broke into his heart, becoming that missing rib.

Apart from his racing heartbeat, Sebastian couldn't articulate any other feeling.

For the first time in his life, someone told him he could rely on her.

It had always been Isabella, always her, the first to offer to soothe his furrowed brow, the first willing to put herself in danger to help him gather evidence.

Sebastian trusted her.

Sebastian's deep, unfathomable eyes locked onto Isabella, his eyelids not even flickering, a steadfast gaze between them, neither willing to back down.

Finally, Sebastian reached out his long arms and pulled Isabella tightly into his embrace.

His hot breath brushed against Isabella's ear, his voice husky and slightly trembling. "I'll remember these words. If one day you decide to leave, I'll definitely..."

Definitely what?

Sebastian didn't say.

Neither did Isabella press for an answer.

In her eyes, she would never leave. When she loved someone, she would give her whole heart without reservation.

Isabella wrapped her arms around Sebastian's waist, patting his back. "I won't leave, it's time for you to go attend to your matters."

"Just one more hug," Sebastian murmured.

With just those four words, Isabella felt a flutter in her heart as he held her heart firmly in his hands.

The embrace lasted for about five minutes, and it was clear that Sebastian didn't want to leave, but the weight of his responsibilities pressed him to depart.

Isabella waved goodbye to Sebastian as his car disappeared from view, leaving her heart suddenly empty.

Isabella shook her head in resignation, feeling herself useless for missing him just minutes after parting.

But so what?

She missed Sebastian!

Carl came out to greet her, smiling, "Madam, Mr. Lawrence is away on a business trip. During this time, please take care of yourself. After three months, when everything settles down, you can go see the maple leaves with Mr. Lawrence."

"Maple leaves?" Isabella inquired.

"Yes," Carl followed Isabella, smiling. "There's a maple forest nearby. In a few months, the hills and valleys will be dyed red. It's quite spectacular."

Isabella wasn't particularly interested, but the thought of Sebastian accompanying her filled her with anticipation.

"Alright, Carl, please remember this for me and remind me when the time comes," Isabella said.

"Of course, you can count on me," Carl replied.

"By the way," Isabella said, "Help me find out what materials are needed for the financial professional exams."

Originally, she had planned to ask Sebastian, but considering his recent business, she abandoned the idea.

Isabella thought that the less she wasted his time, the better.

Isabella stretched lazily, instructing, "Resolve this matter early, but there's no need to rush."

"Consider it done, Madam. I'll take care of it promptly." Trusting Carl to take charge, Isabella felt a weight lift from her shoulders, and with a quiet sigh, she headed upstairs to find some peace.

After both had left, Ruth, who had been tending to the greenery, slowly lifted her head.

After a moment, Ruth bent down to pick up the fallen branches on the ground and then walked away.

In a narrow corner, Ruth stopped in her tracks, carefully looked around, and discreetly pulled out her phone.

"Hello," Ruth lowered her voice, "Miss Baker, I just heard something."

In late summer and early autumn, occasional sounds of small animals could be heard, which covered Ruth's hushed conversation completely.

At the same moment, on the other end of the phone, Lynda, wearing dark sunglasses, sat in a secluded corner of a café, inconspicuous.

"Alright, understood. You've done a good job. Also, lay low. You'll get what you deserve, not a penny less," Lynda instructed.

After hanging up, Lynda turned to Grace across from her.

Grace's hair was disheveled, her dress wrinkled and marked with a pale yellow hue.

Grace, once arrogant and haughty, had shed her former demeanor.

With her head bowed and shoulders slightly trembling, Grace's hand rested on the table, nails digging into the surface, emitting a grating sound.

"Grace, live well," Lynda said, pushing a card towards Grace, "Here's a million. Leave Maple Valley."

Grace suddenly looked up, her cracked lips bloody from biting them, her eyes turning red as if she were ready to devour someone, "Leave? Lynda, say that again!"

"The Turner family is falling, I'm useless now, so you want to drive me away? Impossible! You've put me in this situation, and you think you can get rid of me with a million?"

Grace stared, her nails snapping from the force.

Ignoring the pain, she propped herself up on the table, stood up, bent over, and grabbed Lynda's hair, "For your wealth and glory, bitch, how dare you do this to me!"

Lynda was in great pain, thinking Grace was truly a lunatic.

However, she was exactly what Lynda wanted.

"Let go," Lynda's voice was hoarse and tinged with a sob. "Can't you see the situation? Letting you leave is to protect you, don't you understand?"

"Protect me? What nonsense are you spouting?" Grace had been deeply affected by her time in prison.

She smirked, "I got out this time because someone took my place in prison. Soon, that person who replaced me will die, and then, there will be no Grace in this world!"

"From now on, I don't exist! I won't be able to go anywhere!"

Lynda never expected Samuel to handle Grace in this manner.

It showed that Samuel didn't dare confront the Lawrence family directly or openly oppose Sebastian.

She couldn't help but look down on Samuel.

However, Lynda had to admit that this method was covert and safe.

Since someone had taken Grace's place in prison, no one would know that Grace had escaped, and this incident wouldn't be traced back to her.

Grace could be completely manipulated.

Enduring the pain, Lynda solemnly said, "So what? How do you plan to escape otherwise? Do you know how much time and effort I've spent on you? Moreover, since someone is substituting for you, you could replace that person."

"If you want to live, you must leave the country. I'll take care of the identity issue for you."

"Stay calm. Don't attract the waiter, or you'll draw the attention of the police, and everything will be ruined." Lynda sniffed, "Do you think Sebastian would help me now? No, Isabella has successfully taken control, Sebastian no longer has a place for me in his heart."
