Chapter 147 Money Talks
Isabella smiled and said, "Don't worry, I've made all the arrangements. Wherever Sebastian goes, I'll go with him, sticking by his side. After a while, they'll both grow tired of not seeing each other, and give up."
Old Master Lawrence laughed as well. "If you can look at him like that, then there's nothing better. As for Lynda, do you need any help from me?"
"No need, Grandfather. A forced melon won't be sweet. I want Lynda to willingly and with a heavy heart leave New York, no longer entangled with Sebastian."
"I see... You've thought it through quite well."
"More than that." Isabella's voice became even sweeter.
"Grandfather, as I mentioned before, I am preparing for pregnancy. Just wait for good news. Sometime this year, at the latest next year, I will definitely give you a big surprise!"
Sebastian supported his forehead, listening to Isabella fabricating stories.
Not only did her voice sound sweeter than usual, but when she spoke, she was animated, with a smile dancing on her red lips. She seemed more agile and lively than ever before.
It seemed like it had been a while since he last saw this side of her.
"Alright, Grandfather, keep your worries at bay and take good care of your health. Goodbye."
After hanging up the phone, Isabella let out a sigh of relief.
She looked around, wanting to find water to drink, but there was only a cup of water that Sebastian had already drunk from.
She averted her gaze.
"Drink it," Sebastian said. "It's not the first time."
When she thought about it, it made sense. Besides, she was quite thirsty, as she had been talking to the old man for about ten minutes, managing to deceive him.
She still didn't know when Sebastian would let her go.
Isabella picked up the cup of water and took a few sips, glancing at him.
"You heard what I just said to Grandfather, didn't you?"
"What did you say?"
Water almost sprayed out of Isabella's mouth. "You didn't hear?"
"I heard."
"Then, what is your problem?"
Sebastian replied slowly, "I was too focused on the sound of your voice, didn't pay attention to what you said."
"..."
She looked at him. "You don't usually talk to me like that."
"Is there a need?" Isabella responded.
"All coy and pretentious, it gives me goosebumps just listening to myself."
A faint smile curved Sebastian’s lip.
"But I like listening."
"You like listening, what's that got to do with me?" Isabella put down the cup of water and brought the conversation back.
"Let me tell you, I managed to barely pass the test with your grandfather. The rest is up to you."
He asked absentmindedly, "What do I have to do?"
This man was clearly talking to her, clearly needing something from her, yet he acted so nonchalant.
And that hand... It never stays still.
Either pinching her waist or touching her. He had grabbed her hand and hasn't let go since her phone all.
Isabella looked at him seriously and said, "Firstly, when you meet Lynda in the future, remember to keep a low profile and deceive others. She absolutely cannot come to Willow Brook Estate again."
"Secondly, when Grandfather asks, you must lie and imply that you have moved on from her and want to live a good life with me."
"Third, when I become pregnant, you have to act even more convincingly. After acting for this year, you can be with your Lynda, and I... will retire as we have accomplished our goal."
"Oh..." Sebastian dragged out his words, "I understand."
"Good, anyway, you don't live in the Lawrence family home. Dealing with them every once in a while, should be simple for you," Isabella replied.
Sebastian asked, "But Isabella, why should I cooperate with you?"
"What did you say?"
Isabella felt like she was being strangled by his words. What on earth! She was paving the way for his future with Lynda. His cooperation was not for himself only. Wasn't it obvious?
Suppressing her anger, Isabella calmly asked, "If you don't cooperate, then are you going to handle the Lawrence family on your own?"
"That was your responsibility," Sebastian's tone and expression were so conceited.
"I married you for this small role, and you can't even perform it well. You want me to cooperate with you?"
Isabella felt as though she could spit blood.
"Sebastian, can you be a little more reasonable?"
"I am being reasonable with you," he replied.
"Handling the Lawrence family, giving birth to a child, paving the way for Lynda... that's what you should do."
His words were hurtful, piercing her heart.
Isabella was stunned for a moment but didn't show any signs of being upset.
No matter how upset she was, she wouldn't let Sebastian see.
"Yes, I am doing all of that now," she answered. "Are you not satisfied?"
"A little."
"What exactly are you not satisfied with? Point it out, and I'll change it." Isabella said.
"If it's really not enough, I'll personally visit the Lawrence family home. Will you then finally be satisfied?"
Suddenly, Sebastian sneered, "You're really going all out to help me."
"That's because you gave me enough money. Several tens of billions, in fact. After the divorce, I will definitely receive a share of your fortune. As the saying goes, if you're too kind, I have to do a good job to satisfy you, right?"
"Should I say thank you?"
"No need," Isabella smiled. "Saying a few words is not as practical as giving me some money, right, Mr. Lawrence?"
Sebastian's expression turned completely cold. He pushed her away and closed his eyes, saying, "Get out."
Isabella was originally sitting fine on his lap.
With a push, she stumbled and bumped into the office desk, using her hands to steady herself.
She bit her lip, choosing not to say anything, and quickly regained her composure, flipping her hair and striding past Sebastian with her head held high.
What's wrong with this moody and unpredictable man?
Just as she reached the doorway, she paused and turned back to say, "If there's anything you're unsatisfied with, feel free to tell me. I'll make changes. As long as the money is in place, we can talk about anything."
Sebastian's gaze was as sharp as a knife. Isabella smiled gracefully. It was infuriating. He threw a fit, so she would annoy him back and drive him crazy!
It's ridiculous how he made her call the Lawrence family home, and when she followed his instructions, he wasn't pleased.
What else did he want? Is he expecting her to persuade the Lawrence family to let Lynda become a mistress? Sebastian is nothing but a lunatic! Isabella cursed silently in her heart.
"Madam," out of nowhere, Kaine's voice echoed, "Have you once again angered Mr. Lawrence?"
Isabella looked at Kaine, who had rushed over, and subconsciously replied, "W-What? I didn't anger him."
"But it seems that Mr. Lawrence is angry again."
"If he wants to get angry, is it my fault? I really didn't provoke him."
Kaine's expression clearly read "That's impossible."
"It's true," Isabella said, "I don't mind telling you what just happened."
