Chapter 385 You Know She Was the Culprit?

Sebastian was caught off guard by the sudden hug, leaving him speechless.

He tossed the documents onto the nearby sofa and wrapped his arms around Isabella's waist.

Breathing in her scent, he asked, his voice a bit hoarse, "Not mad at me anymore?"

"Not at all! I'm being good!"

Isabella rested her chin on his chest, looking up with sparkling eyes, "Arguing with my husband over another woman is silly!"

She smiled, full of trust, "I believe in you. If one day isn't enough, then two days, or a month! You'll find the evidence and deal with those who hurt me."

Her smile was as bright as the morning sun, "Right?"

Sebastian was captivated by her smile, his heart racing.

He stared at her, trying not to look away, and gently rubbed her head, "Silly."

He didn't answer directly.

Isabella took that "silly" as his agreement.

She hooked her fingers around his, gently stroking them.

Sebastian felt a tickle in his heart, his Adam's apple moving slightly.

Their eyes met, and sparks seemed to fly.

Isabella thought that a little quarrel could indeed spice things up.

That was exactly how it is with her and Sebastian.

Lynda wanted to break them up, but that was only her wishful thinking.

Only a fool would be provoked by Lynda, and Isabella wasn't a fool.

She would defend her hard-won love and home with all her might.

Isabella smiled, "Yes, I'm a fool, but you like fools, don't you?"

Sebastian's gaze became evasive.

Isabella's sincerity made him feel guilty.

He changed the subject, "Where's Amber?"

Isabella sensed something was off but couldn't pinpoint it.

"I sent her home. She's busy with a film crew and a variety show. She needs rest."

"I'm almost recovered and don't need anyone to accompany me."

Isabella smiled, "Don't worry. I'm not a child."

Sebastian's heart softened. He looked at her and rubbed her head, "Hungry? I'll get lunch."

"Not hungry," Isabella said, suddenly twitching her nose. She sniffed the air, her brows furrowing, "You smell..."

The scent was faint but familiar and repulsive.

It was Lynda's scent.

Isabella's smile froze.

"You smell like Lynda," she said. "You went to see her, didn't you?"

Sebastian usually didn't notice other people's scents, except Isabella's.

So, he hadn't realized he'd carry Lynda's scent so easily.

"Yeah," Sebastian admitted. "I just came back from there."

Isabella knew she shouldn't be affected by Lynda, but she couldn't help it. She wanted to ask why he went to her, what he did, and if Lynda had used her heart condition to force him.

But she held back and waited for his answer.

"I won't go there anymore," Sebastian said seriously. "Never again."

Isabella's eyes brightened. She grabbed his arm excitedly, "Did you find out the truth? You know she's the culprit, right?"

Otherwise, why wouldn't he go?

Her happiness only made Sebastian feel more guilty, like a heavy stone on his chest.

He pulled her into his arms.

Isabella was puzzled and poked his chest, "What's wrong?"

He spoke hoarsely, "Sorry, I haven't found out yet.

"I checked the surveillance at Serenity Way, but nothing unusual. I went to Pine Ridge Gardens to ask, but Lynda denied everything."

His voice was low, filled with guilt.

Isabella's chest tightened, a slight pain in her heart.

"It’s okay," she said, patting his back. "We can keep investigating. We don't need to find out right away."

Sebastian's muscles tightened as she gently patted him, her touch softening into a caress.

"Don't pressure yourself," she said gently. "Even though we haven't found the truth, you've decided not to go to Lynda's. That alone makes me very happy. I'm not disappointed."

Her warm breath on his chest spread warmth through him.

Sebastian looked down at her hair, "Are you so easily satisfied?"

Isabella suddenly pushed him away, catching him off guard.

She took his hand seriously, "That's not it. You misunderstood."

"What?" Sebastian raised an eyebrow.

Isabella licked her lips, "Without evidence, without the truth, you still went to Lynda. What does that mean?"

Sebastian wanted to avoid her joyful eyes but held back.

"What does it mean?" he asked.

"It mean trust. You trust me," Isabella chuckled, "You were too dumb just now, Mr. Lawrence. Did you have a brain malfunction? How couldn't you answer such a simple question?"

Sebastian pinched her nose, a slight smile on his lips, "Maybe I just wanted to hear you say it?"
