Chapter 446 We Must Tell Her

"Trust me," Isabella's eyes twinkled like tiny stars. "I'll come back to you."

Her words had a double edge, hinting at making up.

Sebastian got what she meant.

He locked eyes with her, a grin spreading across his face.

They stared at each other, the chaos in the hotel fading into the background; it was just them in their own world.

"Alright, I'll wait for you." Sebastian's throat bobbed a few times before he spoke, his voice deeper and more magnetic than usual.

Isabella could hear the mix of joy and nerves in his voice. Her eyes turned into crescents, giving him the brightest smile she'd had in days.

Then, with Sebastian's eyes on her, she headed to find the restroom.

As soon as she stepped out, Isabella felt a wave of relief.

Outside, the wind was howling, but she felt oddly calm.

It wasn't because Lynda was getting what she deserved; it was because Isabella had figured things out and didn't want to waste energy on Lynda anymore.

Bad people and bad vibes just weren't worth it.

Standing at the sink, Isabella adjusted the water temperature, scooped up some water, and splashed it on her face.

The water was perfect, cool but not too cold.

It trickled down her cheeks, leaving just a few droplets behind.

Isabella grabbed a tissue and gently wiped her face, making sure not to miss a spot.

Her movements were slow and almost ceremonial.

It was like she was wiping her face, but it felt like she was healing her heart.

When she was done, she tossed the tissue in the trash, stood up straight, and stretched.

Feeling her muscles and bones relax, Isabella placed her hand on her lower abdomen. "Babies, what I am doing is right, isn't it?"

The restroom was quiet, with the wind outside rattling the glass.

Isabella got no answer; there was no one to guide her.

Laura had passed away early, Janet was old and frail, and Rex had checked out after remarrying. Isabella had made it this far on her own.

She had to be right to forgive and go back to that beautiful relationship.

Isabella reassured herself, 'Yeah, it can't be wrong.'

Then she felt completely at ease.

She took a couple of deep breaths and turned to leave.

With her hand on the doorknob, just as she cracked it open, Isabella heard the familiar voices of Marcus and Heather outside.

At first, she didn't think much of it. Her relationship with Marcus was just childhood friends, no romantic vibes, so it wouldn't be awkward.

She could just walk out.

But Isabella furrowed her brows.

Marcus's voice was low and pained, always blaming the Cooper family, while Heather was using a soft tone to comfort him.

Isabella decided to hang back a bit longer; after all, Sebastian was waiting for her.

He had just said he would wait for her.

Isabella smirked.

As she was grinning, she caught Marcus's voice again from outside, "Heather, if Sebastian really cared about Isabella, how could he drag her to Lynda's engagement party? The chick who caused all this mess? It just shows he doesn't give a damn, right? So, why should I..."

"No, hold up," Heather cut him off, "Marcus, maybe Mr. Lawrence knew ahead of time and wanted Isabella to blow off some steam?"

"How is that even possible?"

"Anything's possible. Let's drop it for now," Heather reasoned, "We've seen Isabella and Sebastian together; they totally love each other, no doubt. So, let's not bring that up."

Marcus shot back, "Really? I don't think Isabella wanted to be here. I think Sebastian's pushing her! She needs to know the truth."

Outside, the two kept bickering, and Isabella was puzzled.

The only thing she got was that Heather and Marcus had been testing her.

Whatever Marcus was talking about was about her.

She thought, 'What is it that I don't know but need to be told?'

Isabella's right eyelid twitched, and her eyes felt sore.

A sense of unease grew in her heart, getting stronger and almost overwhelming her.

Isabella pushed the door open and walked out, raising her eyebrows and looking suspiciously at the two in front of her, directly asking, "What are you guys talking about?"

Marcus and Heather didn't expect Isabella to pop out suddenly and were startled.

"Isabella?" Marcus coughed, his eyes darting around, looking at her and then everywhere else.

Finally, his gaze landed back on her. "What are you doing here?"

Heather silently sighed. What a coincidence that Isabella overheard her chat with Marcus.

Marcus didn't really get women.

Heather, being a woman, could see clearly that Isabella loved her husband. Even if they hadn't patched things up, they were just one step away.

That matter, once revealed to Isabella, would be devastating.

Heather unconsciously glanced at Isabella's lower abdomen and quickly said, "Sorry, Mrs. Lawrence."

Isabella tucked the hair falling by her face behind her ear, feeling more confused, "What are you sorry about, and what were you talking about? I didn't catch a word."

Heather laughed loudly. "It's just really embarrassing."

Then, she scratched her head. "How should I put it..."

After a few seconds, she continued, "A while ago, at a restaurant in College Town, we overheard your conversation with your friend."

"We didn't do it on purpose; we just happened to be next to you and heard it," Heather said with an awkward smile, "You were in a bad mood that day, and Marcus and I have been worried about you since. We didn't want to ask you directly, so we had to test you a bit."

As Heather spoke, she pinched Marcus's arm.

Marcus had something to say but ultimately didn't.

Heather's reminder made Isabella recall that day.

That day, she had just found out about Sebastian's deceit and had run out of Willowbrook Estate, her whole world in darkness.

She was in a terrible state, crying uncontrollably.
