Chapter 357 Samuel got Grace out
Isabella bent down a bit to match the elder man's height, her warm smile radiating kindness. Even without words, you could tell how gentle she was with strangers.
You could tell a lot about a person by their everyday actions—whether they were good, lovable or not
Sebastian stopped in his tracks, his exhaustion from the past few days melting away at the sight of her smile.
But then, he noticed he wasn't the only one captivated by Isabella's smile.
Standing at the hospital lobby entrance was Samuel, watching them for who knows how long.
Sebastian's smile vanished.
His expression darkened, and his fists clenched unconsciously.
Maybe sensing Sebastian's gaze, Samuel turned to look at him.
Sebastian could see the same undisguised interest in Samuel's eyes that he had seen at the Silvercrest Golf Course.
That look made Sebastian's blood boil.
"Mr. Lawrence?" Samuel greeted him with a sly smile.
"Sebastian?" Isabella, having just said goodbye to the elder, heard Samuel and looked up, meeting Sebastian's eyes.
Seeing him, Isabella's heart swelled, filling the emptiness she felt even though they'd only been apart for a few hours.
'Isabella, you're so hopeless!'
But she couldn't help stepping toward Sebastian.
Sebastian walked toward her too, wrapping his arms around her waist.
She looped her arm around his just as naturally.
This unspoken connection made Isabella's heart race.
She smiled up at him, her smile now radiant and intimate, unlike the distant one from before.
"Joshua's awake, isn't he?" Isabella asked, her fingers gently tapping Sebastian's arm to comfort him.
With Isabella at the center, everything else faded away for Sebastian.
The annoyance in his chest disappeared instantly.
"Yeah, he's awake," Sebastian said, holding her tighter.
"Good. Kaine told me you've been with him all morning and probably haven't eaten. Let's grab lunch," Isabella said, concern furrowing her brow. "You can't skip meals, no matter how busy you are."
In Sebastian's dark eyes, two small reflections of Isabella were visible.
"Okay," he replied, his voice magnetic, as they walked out together.
He positioned himself on Isabella's left, blocking Samuel's malicious gaze.
As they chatted, they unconsciously reached the lobby entrance.
Remembering something, Sebastian turned and nodded at Samuel before turning back to Isabella.
In those few seconds, he coldly withdrew his gaze, focusing entirely on Isabella and their lunch plans, ignoring Samuel completely.
Watching them, Samuel knew he was in the wrong.
But thinking about how their happiness was built on Lynda's suffering, Samuel's eyes darkened.
He watched their backs, the intimate scene exuding a sense of happiness.
Isabella occasionally tilted her head to chat with Sebastian, the sunlight casting a glow on her face. The curve of her lips was especially clear as she spoke.
The smile she offered now was a familiar echo of the one she'd given the elder man, but this time, it was laced with more affection.
Samuel's heart skipped a beat, feeling a pang of envy toward Sebastian.
His expression darkened as he recalled Lynda's words, disgust flickering in his eyes.
A woman with ill intentions, skilled in using seduction as a strategy—maybe her every move was carefully planned.
"Samuel." A woman's voice behind him made him smile and turn around.
Lynda walked up, her face flushed with joy. "You're here! I thought you'd have to wait a while before picking me up."
"I promised you, so of course I came," Samuel said, not taking his eyes off her. "How were the test results? How are you? Any issues?"
Lynda had come to the hospital because Samuel urged her to. He was worried their intimate life might affect her health.
Lynda sneered inwardly at his concern.
If it were Sebastian, he would have come to accompany her personally, unlike Samuel, who only showed up after her check-up, offering a few perfunctory words of care.
Lynda took Samuel's hand, her fingers lightly scratching his palm, filled with implications but wearing an innocent expression. "If it affects me, can you go easy on me tonight?"
Samuel held her hand firmly. His eyes gleamed mischievously, his voice slightly hoarse as he changed the subject, "Grace can come out this afternoon. Any rewards tonight?"
"Really?" Lynda tightened her grip on Samuel's hand. Grace could be of help!
"When have I ever lied to you?" Samuel said.
"You're so good!" Lynda tiptoed, lightly brushing Samuel's face with her lips.
"As long as you know." Samuel pinched her nose, "Let's go, have a meal. You can pick up Grace in the afternoon."
The weight on Lynda's heart lifted. She gave Samuel a smile she thought he would like, expressing her gratitude affectionately.
Watching her smile, Samuel suddenly thought of Isabella's smile and couldn't help but compare the two.
It might have been an illusion, but he felt Isabella's smile was more sincere.
Was it because Isabella was too good at acting?
"Samuel, what are you thinking? I asked what you want for lunch. Did you hear me?"
Due to the comparison just now, a hint of annoyance crossed Samuel's handsome face. It was when he heard Lynda's question that he returned to his usual self.
He lowered his head and replied, "Whatever you like, I'm fine."
"Okay, how about we go to your place? I'll cook for you." Lynda had a clear plan in mind. She knew she had to rely on Samuel now. So, she didn't mind being nice to him.
Lynda understood perfectly well what kind of woman Samuel liked and how he could be swayed.
The current situation showed that she had done the right thing, didn't it?
In just a few days, Samuel had managed to get Grace out, just as he had promised.
"I like that. Just don't tire yourself out too much." Samuel opened the passenger door, gesturing for Lynda to get in.
Once Lynda was seated, he went around to the other side to get in.
As Samuel opened the car door and lifted himself in, he glanced across the street from the hospital at the Azure Horizon Restaurant window, where a familiar couple was sitting.
