Chapter 285 Don't Shed Tears
He didn't ask for much, so why did everyone want to fight for it?
Brittany continued, "Of course, if you disregard your reputation, you can continue to threaten me with the Everly family."
Joshua held Brittany's chin and his expression suddenly turned cold. "Brittany, do you think this can threaten me?" he questioned.
Brittany was not afraid, and with the same expressionless face, she replied, "Obviously, it can."
Joshua laughed, causing Brittany's heart to sink, and a sense of unease gradually enveloped her.
"Brittany, maybe you forgot, but I'm very twisted," Joshua whispered in Brittany's ear. "There are surveillance cameras in the room, and I have videos. There are no blind spots."
Brittany was stunned and her eyes widened.
"So, your greediness displeases me. Let Larry Hall stay there for a few more days, suffer a bit more, and then I'll let him go," Joshua said.
With that, Joshua kissed Brittany's cold forehead.
Then, he stood up, facing Brittany's angry face, and lightly smiled. "Don't do anything foolish, listen to me," he advised.
He looked out of the window behind Brittany, the twilight enveloped everything, and the sunset was about to descend. "Who knows, in a few days, I might...get tired of you," he said.
Brittany felt a sense of being belittled. She stared at Joshua's back as if wanting to poke a hole in it.
"Joshua, you devil, you...won't have a peaceful death," she said.
Brittany's eyes turned red, and tears welled up in her eyes.
"I see. If I die, don't shed tears," Joshua said, almost using all his strength to utter those words.
Brittany smiled and said, "I definitely will shed tears."
Joshua was taken aback, a hint of joy appearing in the corner of his eyes.
However, the next second, he heard Brittany add, "Tears of joy."
Joshua's back stiffened, and a wave of pain swept through his stomach. A metallic taste filled his throat, and an uncontrollable nausea surged up.
He clenched his fist, not daring to stay any longer, and stepped out of the bedroom.
After closing the door, Joshua endured it, his Adam's apple rolling incessantly.
Not long after, Joshua's face was filled with indulgence and smiled. He had achieved his goal, hadn't he?
His pair of peach blossom eyes were filled with pain, and his sexy lips grinned. With his broken body, he took each step away from the place where his loved one was, leaving their home.
His figure was so haggard, so lonely, so desolate.
In the garage, Joshua was in so much pain that cold sweat broke out all over his body as if he had been soaked in water.
He had no other choice but to call Sebastian with difficulty and weakly say, "Sebastian, Willowbrook Estate, New York, come pick me up. Don't call an ambulance, don't let her... hear it."
At this moment, Willowbrook Estate.
Although Isabella had received the message of Brittany's safety, she couldn't let go of her worries.
During the meal, Isabella sighed.
She held the hamburger in her hand, almost without an appetite.
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, and remarked, "Joshua has a sense of propriety. It's none of your concern. Eat."
Isabella was lost in thought, not holding back her words. She subconsciously said, "Joshua is just as trashy as you. What sense of propriety? I..."
A probing gaze fell sharply on her face, and Isabella suddenly woke up.
What did she just say?
"I-I-I..." Isabella coughed, "I was talking about the old you, not the current you."
She looked into Sebastian's eyes, holding onto her utensils tightly, trying hard to hide her feelings, "The old you, you can't deny it, can you?"
Sebastian vaguely perceived that Isabella was avoiding him, which made him feel a sense of insecurity.
An urgent phone call interrupted any further questioning.
He took out his phone, and glanced at the screen, a crease forming between his eyebrows. He stood up with his phone in hand.
Keeping a distance from Isabella, Sebastian finally answered the call.
With Sebastian's departure, Isabella let out a sigh of relief. She pursed her lips and looked in the direction Sebastian had left.
She lowered her head, coldly humming in her heart. Could this person be too ostentatious?
Isabella realized that it was obvious that Sebastian was hiding something from her and plotting something. Otherwise, why would he bother to take such a long trip just to answer a phone call?
After hanging up the phone, Sebastian furrowed his brows and walked towards Isabella with a cold expression. "Don't be picky about food," he said. "Go to bed early tonight. If I have time, I'll come back and accompany you. Don't wait for me."
He quickly gave Isabella a few instructions, took the coat handed to him by the butler, and walked out.
Isabella wanted to ask him what was wrong, but he walked away without even turning his head.
It must be Lynda again...
Isabella lowered her head and ate her dinner. The exquisitely delicious meal tasted like wax.
Annoyed, Isabella squeezed the hamburger in her hand and felt frustrated.
How could Sebastian still easily influence her emotions even at this point?
And at that moment, a shadow loomed above her.
Isabella put down her utensils and looked to the side, and said, "...Sebastian?"
She was quite surprised. "Didn't you go out for something? Why did you come back?" she asked.
Sebastian raised his palm and pressed Isabella's head against his abdomen, patting her on the back of her head. "I'm not a scumbag. I wasn't one before, and I won't be in the future," he remarked.
Isabella looked up, puzzled, "Huh?"
"Remember that." Sebastian let go of her, bent down, lightly kissed her forehead, and said, "I probably won't be back tonight. Rest early. Goodnight, my Isabella."
After Sebastian left for a long time, Isabella remained in a daze, motionless.
Sebastian's words were a little fake, but they sounded so... nice.
Isabella lowered her head, a bitter smile forming at the corner of her mouth. This means that the more beautiful things are, the more dangerous they tend to be.
Sebastian's face was cold as he sped towards New York Number One.
The originally 20-minute drive was compressed to 10 minutes by him, running countless red lights.
Upon arriving at his destination, Sebastian quickly found Joshua's car. He opened the door and saw Joshua on the passenger seat, clutching his stomach and trembling.
"Trouble... brother." Joshua's face was pale, and there was no color on his lips. He looked lifeless but made an effort to lift his eyelids and look at Sebastian.
Sebastian's temples throbbed as his heart sank.
He glanced at the scratch marks on Joshua's neck and cursed, "You damn person, you're almost dying and still sleeping with someone?"
Joshua grinned, and replied, "I'm fine."
"Shut up!" Sebastian scolded.
After being scolded, Sebastian didn't dare to say anything else. He immediately got into the car, knowing that he couldn't waste a single second.
The black luxury car sped off like lightning, quickly leaving the garage of One New York.
Among the people that Sebastian cared about, Joshua was one of the most important. They grew up together, went to school together, and worked together. When he thought about it, Sebastian realized that they had spent the most time together.
At eleven o'clock in the evening, Sebastian remained outside the operating room. He stood by the window, pressing his forehead in pain.
