Chapter 434 Taking Care of Him
"If Betty hadn't chipped in, Mom wouldn't have made it after popping out Sebastian. I wouldn't be here, Dad would've lost it, and Sebastian would be drowning in guilt."
Amber bit her lip. "So, Sebastian had no choice."
Isabella finally got it.
She understood what Sebastian meant when he said he owed the Baker family big time.
This favor was huge.
Sebastian had to cover for Lynda. If the cops got the evidence, Lynda would be toast, even if she didn't die, she'd be locked up.
"Isabella, Sebastian had no other choice. Can you cut him some slack this time?" Amber's cheeks were streaked with tears as she held Isabella's hand, pleading, "He really cares about you, Isabella. Sebastian did what he did today because he had no other option. When Sebastian wakes up, let him send Lynda abroad, and you and Sebastian can live a good life together, okay?"
Isabella stayed quiet, still trying to wrap her head around Amber's words.
She thought, 'So, this is why Sebastian wouldn't punish Lynda.'
After learning about the Baker family's favor to Moore, Isabella suddenly realized she had no chance to get back at Lynda.
Her revenge plan was totally shot.
At first, Isabella thought forgiving Sebastian and letting Lynda go were two separate things.
But now, they were the same deal.
She not only had to forgive Sebastian but also let Lynda off the hook.
She thought, 'Amber's last words meant exactly that, right?
'Everyone here, except for Jarod, who was Sebastian's half-brother, probably thought the same way, right?
'But what about what I went through? Is everything supposed to end with forgiveness and forgetting?'
As several pairs of eyes stared at Isabella, waiting for her answer, the light in the operating room went out.
Isabella immediately turned around.
Everyone's attention shifted to the surgery results.
The air was thick with tension.
Soon, Wayne, dressed in a white coat, took off his mask and smiled, "Relax, everything's fine. The patient's arteries aren't hit. The knife wound isn't deep and missed the heart. A few days of rest, and he can go home."
Isabella stared intently at Wayne. At his words, her highly strung nerves finally relaxed.
From the Willowbrook Estate to the hospital, Isabella hadn't relaxed for a second.
She was really scared, so scared that something might happen to Sebastian.
Luckily, he was safe.
William, standing next to Isabella with a cane, sighed heavily in relief.
Amber covered her face and cried. "I knew it, I knew Sebastian would be okay."
Everyone else also felt relieved.
Isabella closed her eyes, her eyes slightly moist, and a relaxed smile appeared on her lips.
Then Isabella's body couldn't handle the huge emotional shift, and she blacked out.
She fainted right there.
Amber peeked through her fingers, quickly withdrew her hand, and grabbed Isabella's arm nervously. "Isabella!"
Isabella was out cold.
Vaguely, she heard someone calling her, but she was too tired to open her eyes.
She tried hard to open her eyes, not wanting to freak out those who cared about her, but no matter how hard she tried, it was useless.
Isabella vaguely heard a stranger's voice, "Overwrought with worry, she'll wake up after some rest."
She couldn't catch the rest of the words.
She fell into darkness.
When Isabella woke up again, the next day's sun was slowly creeping into the sky.
After opening her eyes, Isabella stared at the white ceiling, her mind blank.
She breathed slowly.
After a minute or two, Isabella remembered she was in the hospital!
She thought, 'Where's Sebastian?
'Has Sebastian woken up? Where is he now?'
Isabella looked around but didn't see Sebastian.
She placed her hand on the bed to support herself and got out of bed, shuffling in her slippers towards the door.
As she passed the bathroom door, she heard the sound of running water and stopped.
"Sebastian?" Isabella knocked on the door. "Is that you in there?"
The sound of water stopped.
Then, the bathroom door opened from the inside, revealing Sebastian's pale face.
Seeing his face, Isabella felt a pang of pain in her heart.
Her gaze gradually moved down to Sebastian's left chest. After a glance, Isabella bit her lower lip.
Sebastian was wearing a white shirt, unbuttoned and loosely draped, exposing a large part of his chest.
Naturally, it revealed the location of his wound.
There, layers of gauze were wrapped around.
Probably because Sebastian moved too much, the wound was pulled, and the white gauze was stained with blood, with a tendency to spread.
Isabella was instantly furious.
She gritted her teeth and said, "Sebastian, don't you care about your body at all! Can you stop moving around!"
Sebastian's deep, dark eyes locked onto Isabella. Seeing her worry and unease for him, his nerves relaxed.
"But, Isabella," Sebastian said innocently, "I need to wash my face, brush my teeth, and shave. I wasn't moving around."
He pulled his pale lips into a light smile. "Even though it hurts a lot after the anesthesia wears off."
Sebastian gazed at Isabella with deep affection. "To see you, I need to be in good shape."
Knowing full well that Sebastian was saying this on purpose, Isabella couldn't help but feel moved.
Besides, if Sebastian said it hurt, Isabella couldn't ignore it.
"I'll get you some water to brush your teeth," Isabella said, "Then I'll help you wash your face and shave."
Being with Sebastian still felt strange to Isabella.
She gently pushed him to the sink.
Isabella squeezed toothpaste onto Sebastian's toothbrush and filled a cup with warm water, handing them both to him.
"Here."
Sebastian took the toothbrush but didn't touch the cup.
He met Isabella's questioning gaze, guiding her to look at his wound, and said, "I can't use my left arm."
He said it plainly, as if just stating a fact.
She thought 'Such a performer.'
Isabella really wanted to splash the water in his face.
Sighing silently in her heart, she pursed her lips and took the cup.
Isabella blushed under Sebastian's triumphant gaze, and she urged him seriously, "Hurry up."
