Chapter 146 Daughter-in-law, You Have to Keep an Eye on Him

Sebastian's reminder made Isabella realize something.

"You want me to talk to Grandfather about you and Lynda?" she asked.

"Only you can do it. You're the best person for the job." Sebastian replied.

Isabella asked, "So, what should I say? How should I say it?"

Sebastian countered, "What do you want to say?"

She pondered...

She wanted to reprimand Lynda fiercely, igniting strong opposition from the Lawrence family, and preferably have her immediately sent out of the country, leaving today!

But... it was just a thought.

"I don't have anything specific to say," Isabella answered. "If you want me to say something, I'll say it."

"Grandfather will only believe your words," Sebastian said.

Suddenly, Isabella felt a twinge of guilt in her heart.

"Grandfather trusts me so much, yet here I am, deceiving him... Sebastian, I never expected that you could deceive even your own grandfather."

If old Master Lawrence knew that she was just one of Sebastian's pawns, that their marriage was merely a transaction, she wondered how disappointed he would be.

After saying that, she laughed, "Sebastian, who haven't you deceived?"

He furrowed his brows. "Why are you asking that?"

"Because I thought about it, and it seems as though you deceive everyone. I won't say it though. Lynda is your true love, and you've deceived her too, right? You implemented our marriage plans first before telling her."

Being guessed correctly didn't feel particularly good.

"It has nothing to do with you," Sebastian said. "You are on a ‘Need to know’ basis, and you don’t need to know."

Isabella, however, continued to smile mischievously, pushing her luck a bit.

"Sebastian, have you even deceived yourself?"

"Deceive myself?"

"Yeah, maybe you don't actually like Lynda that much," Isabella leaned closer to him, close enough to see his eyelashes.

"You only like that feeling of youth and innocence."

Sebastian looked up, gazing at her smiling face.

In a calm tone, he said, "You're the first person to say something like that."

"Is that so? When others talk about you and Lynda, they always mention how loving and sweet you are, and how much you adore her. They attribute the obstacles to Lawrence family's opposition..."

Sebastian pursed his thin lips slightly. "Should we make the call?"

"Yes," Isabella pouted. "If you don't want me to mention Lynda, then I won't. It was just a passing comment."

After hearing the gossip from Anthony, she actually wanted to confirm it with Sebastian.

But she couldn't be too direct either...

Sebastian was clever, and if he sensed something and found out that Anthony was the source, Anthony would be in trouble.

Isabella found old Master Lawrence's number but hesitated to dial it.

Sebastian asked, "What are you waiting for?"

"I'm thinking about what to say and how to say it. You haven't given me any hints."

"You know what to do, Isabella."

She smiled and pressed the dial key.

Yes, she knew. Sebastian was too clever, clever enough to see through her thoughts.

The Lawrence family opposed it, Lynda had already returned to New York, staying by Sebastian's side... What could she say?

Naturally, she had to do her best to disguise and protect, so that the Lawrence family wouldn't trouble Lynda.

The call was answered quickly, but the tone of the old man was particularly aggressive.

"You still know how to call me? If it weren't for the sake of my daughter-in-law, afraid she'll be sad, I would have disciplined you long ago! Day after day, I don't know what you're thinking!"

"You're already married, going to be a father in two years, and you're still indecisive in your feelings. Have you forgotten everything I taught you before? Those in high positions can't afford to be mentally unsettled!"

"I'm asking you, what's good about that Lynda! She approached you, seduced you, and from beginning to end, it was all for money! With such shallow tactics, she was able to deceive you?"

"You married Isabella, to be honest, even if the Wallace family hadn't gone bankrupt, when she married into the Lawrence family, it would still be a good match. But I think she's better than Lynda."

"And now, what are you doing? You're in charge now, calling the shots. Whatever you want to do, there's nothing you can't achieve. Your wings have hardened, so I can't control you anymore?"

Isabella held the phone, feeling a bit dumbfounded, looking at Sebastian.

She pointed to the phone, then pointed at herself.

Should she say something, but Sebastian spoke first.

"Grandfather, you think a bankrupt heiress is better than Lynda? The mess in the Wallace family cost me more than Lynda's illness."

"Is it about money? Ah, Sebastian, it's about people, people!"

"Alright." Sebastian responded, "Then, I'll have someone explain it to you properly."

As soon as his words fell, with the hand resting lightly on her waist, he pinched her.

Isabella almost screamed in surprise and gave him a glare.

What was he trying to do!

If she hadn't controlled herself just now, she would have been disrespectful in front of his grandfather!

She would settle the score with him later!

"Grandfather."

Isabella quickly composed herself, softening her voice, speaking in a gentle and soothing tone. It was incredibly pleasant to listen to.

"Don't get angry for now, Sebastian has always been like this, you know that. Just scold him a little, don't let it affect your health."

As she spoke in her soft tone, Sebastian couldn't help but look at Isabella a few more times.

He knew that Isabella had learned...

When Sebastian was studying broadcasting, he had some doubts. But now, he believed it.

As long as she wanted, she could do the innocent voice, cool big sister voice, and all kinds of professional voice acting... It was all possible.

As Sebastian pondered, his thoughts involuntarily went astray, and his body had a somewhat unnatural reaction.

He averted his gaze and coughed softly.

On the other end of the phone, upon hearing Isabella's voice, the old Master immediately changed his tone.

"It's my Isabella! I have just scolded Sebastian on your behalf and gave him a good talking to. Don't worry, the Lawrence family will always stand by your side!"

"I know, Grandpa, so in my heart, I've always been very grateful," Isabella said.

"These past few days, Sebastian and I have had several candid conversations."

"What did he say?"

"We are already married and are meant to spend our lives together. I also know that Lynda, to him, is just a beautiful memory, nothing more. Who hasn't been young, who hasn't had a first love? I believe he will soon move on."

Sebastian's eyebrows raised.

Old Master Lawrence couldn't be easily fooled, so he asked, "Lynda actually returned to New York. Her presence will definitely have an impact on your current marital status."

"I know, so, Grandpa, I've been keeping a close eye on him recently. Just think about it, we go to work together, leave work together, and spend our nights together at Willow Brook Estate. If he plans to meet Lynda, I'll be the first to disagree."

"Yes, yes, yes, my dear, you must keep an eye on him! Absolutely do not let him meet Lynda, and do not let Lynda come to Willow Brook Estate!"
