Chapter 209 I Will Make Lynda Apologize to You
Sebastian looked at her, "Aren't you going to ask me where I've been?"
"You can go wherever you want. You're free. How could I possibly control you? It's only you who can control me, Sebastian."
Although she answered in this way, Sebastian voluntarily confessed, "I went to see Lynda."
"Oh." Isabella responded indifferently.
Her indifferent attitude left a bitter taste in Sebastian’s mouth.
He knew that the slap he had given her in his rage had utterly broken her heart.
From now on, Isabella would always treat him with this attitude: cold and indifferent, without joy or sorrow, and her eyes would no longer shine with light.
"You might think that I believed Grace. And you might think that I went to see Lynda just because I wanted to see her. But actually... you're wrong."
Upon hearing this, Isabella finally looked at him, "So, you don't believe Grace?"
"I'm not so naive as to not see through such a scheme. Lynda was wrong, and Grace was even more wrong," Sebastian said, "Lynda admitted it last night."
Isabella was somewhat surprised, then laughed, "So you knew it all along. Good, that saves me from having to explain. When Grace came to Willowbrook Estate to admit her mistake, I thought you had been deceived."
"I can make my own judgments."
But... Isabella wasn't foolish. Even though it was a plot from the beginning, Sebastian had seen through the farce played by Lynda and Grace, but it still implicated many things.
Like her ambiguous relationship with Marcus, the lingering feelings.
Like the fragility of this marriage, all exposed for all to see.
And then... whether Marcus' injury was intentional or coincidental.
Isabella clearly remembered that just as she was about to run out of Ivy Lane, two thugs, one tall and one short, jumped out and approached her.
As if they had been waiting there all along.
But this was something she shouldn't mention in front of Sebastian anymore.
She only hoped that the Cooper Family would soon find the culprit and uncover the truth.
Marcus would surely investigate to the end, and the truth would eventually come to light.
Changing the subject, Isabella asked, "Since you came back in the early morning, why did you sleep on the sofa?"
"I didn't want to wake you up."
"You're really thoughtful." Isabella smiled, "Thank you."
Sebastian looked at her with complicated eyes, but there was nothing he could do.
She was sitting right in front of him, within his reach, but he felt like she was getting farther and farther away from him.
He was about to lose his grip on her.
"I'll make Lynda apologize to you," Sebastian said, "It's her..."
Isabella interrupted, "No need. I don't want to see her."
"She did something wrong. This is something she must do."
"Aren't you just making her hate me more and making me a deeper thorn in her side?" Isabella replied, "Even if she apologizes, so what? Does she really realize her mistake?"
Lynda would only be more annoyed that her scheme didn't work this time.
Next time, she would be more careful and meticulous.
But Sebastian easily seeing through this plot was quite impressive.
He wasn't as stupid as she thought...
Indeed, someone who could be a CEO was not ordinary.
Unexpectedly, Sebastian answered, "She won't."
"Can you guarantee that for her?"
"She's not that kind of person," Sebastian said, "With this lesson, she really won't have such thoughts again."
Isabella laughed, "She did something wrong, and you're vouching for her. That's really quite funny."
Sebastian's voice was very low, "I also want to protect you."
"Forget it." Isabella shook her head, "All in all, we have ten more months to live together, less than a year, Sebastian."
His lips tightened.
Isabella's phone buzzed. She glanced at it and suddenly burst into laughter.
Sebastian was standing right there, but she was laughing so happily at a phone...
Naturally, he felt a bit upset.
Who had sent her a message?
Before Sebastian could ask, Isabella volunteered, "Once the director comes over and confirms the test results, I can leave the hospital, right?"
"Yes."
"That's perfect." She started laughing, "I sent a message to Brittany to meet up, and she just agreed."
Sebastian's face darkened slightly. She was going to leave him to be with someone else.
"It's working hours now," Sebastian said, "Brittany is an employee of the Lawrence Group, even though she's an executive, she should not have so much free time."
Isabella's smile froze, "What are you trying to do?"
"She needs to work."
"But aren't you also hanging out in the hospital right now? You seem to have plenty of free time."
Sebastian retorted, "I'm the boss; what about her?"
Isabella was a bit annoyed, but she didn't want to argue with Sebastian.
He was used to doing things his own way. If she continued to argue with him, he would only insist more on keeping Brittany at the company.
Seeing that she didn't speak, Sebastian softened his tone, "You're pregnant now, so you shouldn't be running around."
"I'm not sure if I'm pregnant yet!"
"We'll know the result soon."
Isabella looked at him, "According to what you're saying, if I am pregnant then, for ten months, I have to stay at home every day, not stepping out of the door, until the child is born safely?"
"I didn't mean that, Isabella, you..."
Before Sebastian could finish his sentence, the door was pushed open.
The head of the obstetrics and gynecology department walked in. Seeing the atmosphere between the two, he hesitated.
Usually, couples who were about to become parents were smiling and harmonious, but these two...
One was standing, the other sitting.
One looked unhappy, the other frowned.
"Um... sorry to interrupt," the director said, "The results are out."
Sebastian immediately asked, "What is it?"
"Mrs. Lawrence is indeed pregnant; she’s four weeks along," the director smiled as he walked to his desk, "Congratulations."
Finally, a satisfied smile appeared on Sebastian's face.
It was confirmed.
She was really pregnant.
He was going to be a father, and she a mother.
With a child, the bond between Isabella and him, and her involvement with the Lawrence Family, would be inescapable for a lifetime.
Even if Isabella went far away, even if she hated him, as long as there was a child, she would always come back.
Isabella was stunned for a moment, then lowered her head, her hand resting on her still-flat belly.
Their reactions made the director feel greatly relieved.
Finally, he saw some normal emotions. If they still acted the same way when he confirmed the pregnancy, it would be truly puzzling.
