Chapter 266 My Heart Beats for You, Can You Feel It?

Being watched by Sebastian like that, she felt like prey in the jaws of a predator, his meal on a plate.

She looked away, but it was too late...

Sebastian grasped the back of her head, facing her directly with passionate eyes as he whispered, "What am I planning? What do you think I can possibly do?"

He gave a bewitching smile, "Of course, I’m going to kiss you."

Isabella's pupils shrank, her eyes wide as a shower of fervent kisses descended, sealing her lips.

This kiss stole her breath away, dominating her rationality as her brain turned to mush.

He didn’t let go until she was gasping for air, her breathing scarce.

Isabella always believed that she was just an ordinary woman among many, with no special abilities and only average self-control.

Thus, her disarray, her dizziness, as well as her flushed cheeks and racing heart from his kiss were all normal reactions.

However, she hated how easily he could manipulate her.

She said while tired, "A few days ago, you said I was despicable, so what are you doing now? You’re kissing someone you've called despicable; what does that even mean?"

The more Sebastian listened to her words, the more uncomfortable he felt. He was angry at his unfiltered mouth and at Isabella's self-degradation.

He sharply interrupted her, "Enough; that’s all in the past."

He then caressed her quivering lips; they were soft like jelly.

His anger had somewhat dissipated, his tone almost gentle as he said, "Don't talk like that anymore. Everything that happened before doesn't count; Come back and love me properly."

His eyes held slight doting as he said, "Well? Did you hear me?"

Isabella was frozen, staring at Sebastian like he was a monster.

Her lips shook and her throat felt stuck, unable to utter a single word.

Was he talking nonsense now?

Just a few days ago, he made it crystal clear that he wanted her gone; even calling her cheap and warning her against spying on him. How did he change like this now?

Was he bewitched or possessed?

She didn’t feel joyful. Instead, a tinge of shame washed over her.

Did he really see her as someone at his beck and call?

Perhaps he only saw her as nothing more than a pet.

"Are you being nice now because I fished out information from Thomas to help you out?”

She smiled stiffly, "You don’t actually need to do this, Mr. Lawrence; I really didn’t help much. If you really think I deserve compensation, then... Just let me spend more time with our child in the future."

Sebastian seethed, anger surging within. He squinted, hiding the embarrassment in his eyes as he coldly asked, "Do you not understand what I'm saying?"

Isabella couldn't read his thoughts, nor did she try to. She only shook her head.

Without realizing it, he grabbed her wrist and pressed her hand against his chest.

She could feel his abs and, with her palm warming up, she frowned and tried to pull away.

Sebastian held on tightly, "Can you feel that?"

Isabella was at a loss. What was this all about?

Why did he want her to feel his abs? What sort of fetish did he have?

"Are you really Sebastian?" she cautiously asked.

His mouth corners twitched, "Only a child we both create could avoid being as foolish as you."

"What are you talking about... Did you hit your head or something, Sebastian?"

He pressed her hand stronger against him, leaning in as he whispered in her ear, "My heart is racing for you. Don’t you feel it?"

After he said that, the room fell silent; so much that even the drop of a pin could be heard.

Sebastian felt his throat bob, his mouth strangely dry as his heartbeat raced.

Although approaching his 30s, he felt like he was back in his late teens; immature and silly. This made him strangely unable to raise his head.

Confessing like this was something a person could adapt to after a few tries, but he never did anything like this before.

Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at Isabella. She hadn't moved at all.

Her beautiful eyes were only blinking back at him, void of excitement or shock. They seemed like a serene, tranquil lake.

His face darkened when he didn’t see the joy he anticipated from her, biting down hard on her earlobe.

Isabella hissed, snapping back to reality as she abruptly pulled her hand away.

Her heart thundered in her ears, so loud as if it was occupying her entire ear canal and turning her thoughts messy.

Sebastian’s bite had jolted her awake. Rubbing her eyes, she uttered a confused "Huh?"

On the other hand, Sebastian was displeased. He instantly frowned, poking her chest as he put on finger as he arrogantly huffed, "Your heart is mine, got it?"

Isabella's body felt limp, as if she had been drugged, especially her legs. If she jumped down from the table right then, she was sure she won’t be able to balance herself.

Her mind struggled to process everything, but a thought faintly lingered— was Sebastian confessing his love?

Despite her fluttering heart, she had no reservations about admitting her feelings. However, she didn't believe him.

"It's deeper than just liking," Sebastian whispered softly, "In any case, you’re the only one I’ve given my heart to."

"Since it’s come to this, let’s wipe the slate clean, Isabella. We can start over from now on, and I'll be good to you; we'll have a child, and it’ll be the three of us, a family."

He cursed himself internally; getting emotional wasn't like him at all. However, what's done was done, and there was no turning back.

He tousled her hair and said, "Love me properly, okay?"

Isabella felt bitterness in her throat, her hands gripping the edge of the table and afraid to let go.

This wasn't a dream; it was real. He said it—he liked her, he loved her...

She was so thrilled that she wanted to leap into the air, wrap her arms around his neck, and fiercely kiss him. However, she didn’t dare to.

He had to be lying, right? How could someone shift from extreme hate to falling head over heels in an instant? Not even children could be convinced by such a drastic change.

Although tempting, Isabella knew better. Temptations like these were often poisonous apples.

Just like last time, when he seemed to say he was starting to like her. What happened after that? His ‘like’ was trivial compared to his feelings for Lynda.

Now, he was speaking of love; something deeper than liking. The more enticing his words were, the deeper the pain she’d suffer.

It’d be better to be smart and not fall for it; to not believe from the very start rather than to be struck down later.

Thus, Isabella's heart gradually calmed down.

"Did you hear me?" Sebastian asked with a stoic face, his prominent features giving him a cool, self-possessed look. However, his lips were pursed to hide the slightest nerve behind his composure.

Isabella didn't want to keep up the ambiguity. She lifted her gaze to ask, "What's your goal this time? Can’t you be more direct?"

"What are you talking about?" he looked at her in shock, his chest feeling like he was hit by a silent but cruel punch.

"You have power and authority; crushing me would be like crushing an ant. Moreover, my grandmother is in your hands. Obviously, I shouldn't go against your wishes. However, I still have to refuse. Do you know why?”
