Chapter 361 Isabella's Man, Truly Impressive
Grace finally let go of Lynda's hair and dropped into a chair, staring daggers at her.
"We both failed," Lynda said, a tear slipping down her cheek as she pushed up her black sunglasses. "After I manage to get you out of the country, I'm leaving Maple Valley too."
Grace's fists clenched, her chest heaving. "So, you're just gonna let Isabella take Mrs. Lawrence's place?"
Lynda nodded. "Yeah, it's tough for us to go up against Sebastian. An aunt at Willowbrook Estate told me he's busy this month and traveling. Isabella's got to study during this time. I'll get some friends to help with your identity issue."
"Studying?" Grace spat the word out.
"Yeah," Lynda said, her voice muffled. "She's pregnant, so she'll be studying."
Lynda's tone was tinged with envy. "It's enviable. Sebastian's personally teaching her how to manage the company. By the time the baby's born, she'll probably get shares of the Lawrence Group."
"Let it go," Lynda said, wiping her tears. "It's fate."
Lynda stood up, hands on the table. "Take this card. It's all the money I have. Find a hotel that doesn't need ID, and get an unregistered SIM card on the black market. Don't reveal your identity until I sort things out."
"Otherwise, I can't help you." A determined glint flashed in Lynda's eyes behind her sunglasses as she walked over to Grace. "Don't provoke Isabella or think about harming that child. Wealth and glory aren't worth your life."
Lynda patted Grace's shoulder. "Think it over. I'm leaving."
Grace sat there, motionless. After a while, she slammed her fist on the table, gritting her teeth. "Isabella!"
Outside the café, Lynda saw the hatred in Grace's eyes and smirked.
With Grace's determination, she doubted Isabella would be ready to face her, especially with the baby on the way.
Even if Isabella escaped Grace, Samuel's backup plan was still in place.
Satisfied, Lynda walked away.
Now, she needed to find Samuel to make sure he handled Grace's situation without leaving any traces.
Next, she'd figure out how to reclaim what was rightfully hers.
As days passed, the weather cooled, plants turned yellow, and everything took on a different kind of beauty. Beneath the calm surface, turbulent waves were brewing, unnoticed by anyone.
That evening, as usual, Isabella video chatted with Sebastian.
In nearly a month, Isabella and Sebastian had barely seen each other, except for a prenatal class. Most of the time, even when they did meet, it was just for meals and sleep.
Otherwise, they communicated through video chats.
Sebastian was either working in the country or flying abroad to visit Joshua, dealing with the overseas branches, hardly having time to rest.
Isabella never got mad at Sebastian for leaving her at home; she just felt sorry for him.
With no one to help him, the burden on Sebastian's shoulders was heavy.
He had to support numerous families alone.
Watching Sebastian set down his pen and rub his nose, Isabella felt a twinge of discomfort. It wasn't exactly painful, but the prolonged unease was getting to her.
Sebastian handed the signed contract to his secretary and looked up to see Isabella's red-rimmed eyes.
His heart tightened, and he chuckled softly, like a warm breeze. "I'll be done soon and come home. I lived like this every day before we got married. It's fine. Please don't cry, okay?"
Isabella lay in bed, holding her phone. Peeking out from under the covers, she muttered, "But you got married to me I'm just worried about my husband. Is there any problem?"
Sebastian's hands itched to pinch her cheeks and nose.
He tapped lightly on the table, leaning back in his chair with a sly smile. "Alright, I get it. Mrs. Lawrence cares about me and worries about me."
Isabella stared at Sebastian's face, his smile making her heart race.
She missed him so much.
Sebastian completely dominated her heart.
Blushing, Isabella's lips curved sweetly. "Yes, you must remember that. Don't make me worry."
Sebastian was overseas.
Back home, night had already descended, but abroad, the sun shone brightly, perfect for a day of work.
Sebastian thought maybe it was because Isabella was in bed, so tempting; he felt a bit tired and wanted to hold her in his arms.
"Have you finished studying the basics for today?" Sebastian's voice was low and husky, trying to suppress the heat and emotions in his abdomen.
Isabella pouted. "Of course."
She had the look of "I'll definitely do what I promised."
"Is there anything you don't understand?" Sebastian asked.
"As expected of the super amazing Mr. Lawrence, you guessed right. My man is really amazing." Maybe because Sebastian wasn't right in front of her, Isabella felt bold and spoke directly.
"Your man?" Sebastian found the term intriguing.
When he was young, people called him the heir of the Lawrence family, the grandson of Mr. Lawrence Senior, the son of Jerome.
Later, in college, some called him Jarod's brother.
Sebastian disliked all these titles; he excelled in control and enjoyed turning others into his appendages.
But being called Isabella's man made his heart flutter.
He found the term quite charming.
Listening to Sebastian's magnetic voice, Isabella's ears tingled. Feeling embarrassed, she cleared her throat and buried her head under the covers, leaving only her bright eyes visible.
Blinking twice, she mumbled, "Yes, it's like I'm Sebastian's woman. How fitting."
Isabella's words were muffled under the covers. Sebastian raised an eyebrow. "What?"
When he asked her to repeat herself, she didn't have the courage. She was still very shy.
Quickly informing Sebastian of the unclear professional knowledge points, Isabella said, "That's the question."
Isabella found the problem daunting, but for Sebastian, with his finance background, it was a straightforward matter. He explained it in simple terms.
After finishing, Sebastian found that she had fallen asleep with her eyes closed, looking very obedient.
