Chapter 467 You Get Divorced, I'll Find Someone
"Seriously, there's no need for this."
Samuel tried to calm her down, "Look, I don't know the details of your fight with Mr. Lawrence, but it's clear you want out. No guy can handle his wife cheating, and Mr. Lawrence is no exception. This might actually be a good way to get him to agree to a divorce."
"Since Mr. Lawrence doesn't buy your story, why not just go with it? If a day doesn't work, try a week. If a week isn't enough, try a month. Sooner or later, he'll give in."
Isabella knew he was right.
She had explained herself countless times, but Sebastian just wouldn't believe her. He was convinced she had cheated.
"But what's in it for you?" she asked.
"What's in it for me?" Samuel replied with a sly grin, "I'm a businessman."
Isabella was confused, "What do you mean?"
"Let's keep working together," Samuel suggested, "What do you say?"
Isabella stood up, feeling the breeze, and asked suspiciously, "How do we cooperate?"
Samuel said, "I'll take the hit to my reputation, and you help me find someone. I'm here in Maple Valley to find a woman in her fifties, my aunt.
"She's the only daughter of the Carter family. She ran away for love when she was twenty and ended up here. She's one of the social elites in your Maple Valley circle.
"Given her status, she should be easy to find. But I've been searching for months with no luck. You're more familiar with the upper-class circles here, so help me out."
Isabella had been attending various parties since she was a kid, and as Mrs. Lawrence, she knew most of the wealthy women in their fifties and sixties.
She thought, 'Finding her should be a piece of cake.'
Samuel said, "Give it a shot. Maybe with our second collaboration, you'll get your divorce, and I'll find my aunt. It's a win-win."
Isabella still didn't answer.
Samuel didn't push her, "After what happened last night, no one would advise you to reconcile. Think it over, and hit me up when you're ready."
What happened last night was a nightmare for Isabella, a hell she didn't want to remember.
Thinking about it felt like tearing her heart apart.
Isabella couldn't bear it. She bit her lip, her eyes becoming resolute.
There was nothing to think over. She had vowed to get a divorce, no matter the cost. As long as there was a chance, Isabella would seize it.
"No need to think," Isabella said, "Do you have a photo of your aunt? Send it to me. Just add me on Facebook with my current number."
"I have the photo."
"Wait, I have something to do here. If there are any questions, we'll contact each other on Facebook." Isabella saw Sebastian's car slowly driving in and hurriedly interrupted Samuel, hanging up the phone in a fluster.
After hanging up, Isabella suddenly realized that since she really planned to carry out the lie of cheating to the end, there was no need to hang up!
It would have been best if Sebastian saw her talking to Samuel, got angry on the spot, and took her to get a divorce.
But since she had already hung up, it was unnecessary to call back.
She thought, 'I just wasted a good opportunity!'
The bedroom door got a knock. "Ma'am, Mr. Lawrence is drunk. Mr. Sinclair brought him back. Is it okay to come in?"
Isabella thought, 'Drunk? Sebastian went drinking?'
Her heart tightened, and she walked quickly to the door, but halfway there, she stopped.
She realized she didn't have to worry.
Sebastian had plotted against her, almost killed Janet, and treated her like a baby-making machine.
Isabella questioned herself, and her worried thoughts gradually faded away.
"Ma'am?" Carl knocked on the door again.
Isabella plopped down on the sofa, casually picked up a book, and pretended to read seriously.
She responded flatly, "You can come in. If you can take him to the next room, even better."
Her words were heard.
Carl awkwardly smiled at Joshua and then said, "Mr. Sinclair, what do you think?"
"Open the door." Joshua raised his chin.
Carl got the order and immediately pushed the door open.
Joshua swaggered in, supporting Sebastian, and saw Isabella, who didn't even lift her head. He thought, 'My God, could she really have fallen for someone else?'
After putting the drunk and unconscious Sebastian on the bed, Joshua looked at Isabella again.
"Isabella, he was so anxious to find you yesterday that he got into a car accident. As soon as he woke up this morning, he went to find you. You were being ambiguous with another man. Imagine how angry he was. He cares about you too much and might have misunderstood you. Please understand him and talk to him."
Isabella kept her head down, pretending to read, but in reality, she hadn't read a single word.
She thought, 'Sebastian had a car accident?'
Suddenly, fear surged in her heart.
No wonder his face looked so bad today. Isabella's fingers pressed against the book pages, but she couldn't move, slowly becoming cold and stiff.
"Okay," Isabella swallowed her worry, stared at the small print in front of her, and said lightly, "But he looks pretty healthy now. He is just fine. What's there to make a fuss about?"
Joshua was shocked by her words, frowning in disbelief, "Isabella, do you know what you're saying?"
Isabella closed the book, hugged it to her chest, and stood up under Joshua's gaze.
"I'm not stupid. Of course, I know what I'm saying." Isabella provocatively looked at Joshua, sniffed, and then smiled, "The smell of alcohol and the stench of a jerk in this room are too strong. I'm leaving. Mr. Sinclair, make yourself at home."
She walked out.
Joshua was almost dumbfounded, his eye twitching. He thought, 'Is this still the Isabella who used to look at Sebastian with love in her eyes? She has completely changed! Is this really related to Samuel?'
Joshua couldn't even focus on being called a jerk again. He turned to look at the haggard Sebastian on the bed and finally understood why Sebastian thought Isabella was cheating.
If it were him, he might have believed it too.
"Mr. Sinclair," Carl whispered, "We will take care of Mr. Lawrence. You don't need to worry."
Joshua had stayed long enough today, and the painkillers were about to wear off. He couldn't stay here any longer.
He frowned tightly and nodded, "Take good care of him and prepare some light food. When he wakes up, call your family doctor."
"Yes, Mr. Sinclair, don't worry."
Joshua took one last look at Sebastian, shook his head helplessly, and left.
