Chapter 180 Sebastian, It's All Your Fault
Every fiber of her being was becoming wholly possessed by him.
"Sebastian... ah..." mumbled Isabella, but her words were swallowed by a deeper kiss.
Suddenly, a series of knocks, a persistent "tap, tap, tap," echoed from the door accompanied by Kaine's voice, "Mr. Lawrence."
Isabella's eyes widened in shock.
Oh, heavens... How mortifying it would be to be caught like this!
She pushed at Sebastian's shoulders, but he refused to let go. She exerted more force, only to find herself lifted and perched on his waist.
This man...
As Isabella's fluster grew, so did the fierceness of Sebastian's kisses.
"Outside... ah... Sebastian," she spoke between kisses, "there's someone..."
Before she could finish, a sharp pain on her lip signaled a biting kiss from him.
Sebastian's husky voice cut through the tension, "Focus."
"But outside..." she tried again.
"Doesn't matter."
Isabella was at a loss for words, both speechless and helpless.
Meanwhile, Kaine continued to knock several more times, but to no avail.
How peculiar... Mr. Lawrence and his wife should be in the office. He had seen them enter with his own eyes.
Why was there no response?
Kaine pressed his ear against the door, attempting to discern any movement inside, but the soundproofing was too effective; he heard nothing.
"What are you eavesdropping on?" A voice jested, as a hand clapped down on Kaine's shoulder. Joshua's playful tone ensued, "Mind if I take a listen?"
Startled, Kaine jolted upright and faced Joshua with a flustered expression. "Mr. Sinclair."
"What's the situation in there?"
"Mr. Sinclair, there's... there's no situation," Kaine stuttered.
"No situation, yet here you are, eavesdropping?" Joshua stroked his chin, "Keeping secrets from me?"
Kaine let out an awkward laugh, "Mr. Sinclair, are you here to see Mr. Lawrence?"
"Yes. He's in there, isn't he?"
"He should be..."
"Should be? You don't seem certain."
Kaine was at a loss for words.
"Alright then," Joshua stated, "the door's unlocked; I'm going in."
Kaine hastily tried to intervene, but it was too late.
The door wasn't locked; Sebastian never made it a habit to lock his office door.
Who would dare to barge in without his permission?
Yet, within the company, there were a few audacious individuals and Joshua was certainly one of them.
He yanked the door handle down and pushed—
The door swung open.
In the center of the office stood a couple locked in an embrace, kissing as if they couldn't bear to part.
The sound of the door opening made Isabella's heart sink. "This is it," she thought.
She dove into Sebastian’s arms, squeezing her eyes shut, not daring to look toward the door.
"Ah... Sorry, so sorry," Joshua stammered, still clutching the doorknob. "I knocked, but nobody answered, so I thought I'd check. Didn't mean to intrude, my bad, my bad."
The interruption naturally irked Sebastian.
He glared at Joshua, "Then why are you still here?"
"Leaving right now," Joshua nodded. "Just... wanted to say sorry."
Kaine felt like crying... If Mr. Lawrence blamed anyone for this, it would be him taking the fall!
It was his oversight!
Sure enough, Sebastian's piercing gaze shifted from Joshua to him.
Kaine felt helpless.
Yet, while Joshua made his apologetic speech, his body didn’t budge an inch from the doorway. He was wearing a grin that seemed to say he was enjoying the spectacle.
Lucky for Isabella, she remained hidden, well aware she couldn't show her face.
If she saw Joshua looking smug, she probably would've wanted to run even more.
"Carry on, please, do continue," Joshua said. "I'll come back later. How long do you need? Three minutes? Five, or..."
"Leave!" Sebastian said icily.
With an unflustered chuckle, Joshua replied, "Leaving this instant."
Unable to stand it anymore, Kaine reached and removed the doorknob from Joshua's grip, "Let's go, Mr. Sinclair..."
"Keep going, don't mind me. Totally didn’t mean to. Oh, by the way, Isabella, what are you hiding for? I can't even see you..."
Thud!
The sound of the door slamming cut Joshua off completely.
It was obvious Joshua had done it on purpose.
Sebastian didn’t really care; he wasn’t bothered by these interruptions, but the woman in his arms...
He looked down at her. "He’s gone," he said softly.
Isabella still buried her face in his chest.
"You can look up now."
Still, she didn't move.
"Are you going to keep hiding?"
Isabella raised her hand and thumped his chest hard. "Sebastian! This is all your fault!"
"You blame me for Joshua barging in?"
Sebastian did not want to take the blame for this.
"You insisted... I told you to stop," Isabella accused. "You were the one telling me to focus; it’s all on you!"
Although she was angry and annoyed, a faint smile was playing at the corners of Sebastian's lips.
"Alright, alright," he said as he took her hand. "That must have hurt your hand."
Isabella paused for several seconds before she realized what he meant.
At the mention of pain, she instinctively thought that she had hurt him.
But what he meant was... her hand must be in pain.
After a brief moment of shock, Sebastian wiped away the saliva at the corner of her lips with his thumb. "So Joshua saw us, so what?"
"You're shameless, but I have some pride!"
"We're married; isn't this kind of thing perfectly normal?"
Isabella knew she couldn't win this argument and didn't want to continue.
So, she punched him hard in the chest one more time and turned to leave.
Sebastian didn't try to hold her back; he just watched her go with that light smile still on his face.
But...
Isabella stopped at the door. Outside were Joshua and Kaine. If she went out now, she'd walk right into them!
After a moment's thought, she turned back.
Sebastian leaned against the edge of his desk and slightly bent his long legs. Surprised to see her return, he raised an eyebrow. "Not leaving?"
"Who said I'm not leaving?"
"Then why are you..."
"Hmph!" Isabella glared at him. "Because of you, I'm almost too embarrassed to show my face!"
"That's nothing," Sebastian replied. "Isn't it just the natural state of things?"
"You think everyone is as thick-skinned as you are!" She retorted.
Sebastian couldn’t help but laugh out loud at this.
He even teased, "So?"
Frustrated, Isabella was almost at the door to the break room when she heard him. She turned back and stomped hard on his glossy shoe before finally leaving.
Sebastian watched her enter the break room. "So, you're planning to escape this way..."
"Shut up!"
Only after her footsteps faded did the amusement on Sebastian’s face dissipate. He then straightened his collar and walked to the door.
With his hand on the doorknob, he paused for a second before yanking the door open with a swift pull.
The person leaning against it stumbled in.
