Chapter 420 Want Revenge? I'll Help You
Lynda shook her head, muttering, "Nah, even a new plan's a bust too. Someone's always got my back."
"That slap? Consider it a freebie. I messed you up before, so we're square," Lynda grinned. "Try hitting me again, and someone won't let it slide."
Isabella had always pictured this showdown with Lynda.
Just like the Lynda standing here now, all smug and full of herself.
And it was all because of Sebastian.
Isabella's hands were shaking. Sebastian. Freaking Sebastian!
Lynda kept messing with her because Sebastian had her back.
Who was Sebastian?
Her husband, her lover, the guy who shielded Lynda without a second thought.
Isabella was over it; facing Lynda was pointless, and she'd lose anyway.
Besides a little spat, how could she get back at Lynda?
Kill her? No, three lives for one, Lynda wasn't worth it.
Kick and insult her? No, that would just make her look bad and hurt herself. What if she accidentally hurt the babies?
Call the cops? No way; Sebastian wouldn't allow it.
Isabella mentally tallied it up; she had no way to deal with Lynda at all!
She smirked sarcastically, whatever.
As Isabella walked into the nursing home, brushing past Lynda, she heard Lynda's arrogant laugh. "You really don't deserve to be my rival. Sebastian will be back with me soon."
"Alright," Isabella said flatly, not even bothering to look up, "congrats then."
With that, she kept walking.
"Isabella, thanks for the congrats," Lynda called after her. "Maybe I'll even invite you to the wedding for a drink."
That morning, when Sebastian left, Isabella had thought about forgiving him in a week.
But now, she was so exhausted, too tired to even talk, let alone forgive Sebastian.
Contrary to what Sebastian said, Lynda had always been a wedge between them.
As long as Lynda was around, she and Sebastian had no future.
Isabella pulled her clothes tighter; she felt a bit chilly and wanted to see Janet ASAP.
Lynda watched Isabella's lonely figure walk into the nursing home, a smug smile on her face.
Then Lynda pinched her chin, frowning in confusion.
She thought, 'What's Isabella doing at this nursing home?
'Is there someone she cares about here?'
Suddenly, her phone rang.
"Samuel," Lynda answered, "Okay, no rush. I'll wait in the car; you go ahead."
Lynda had just found out that Samuel came to Maple Valley not just for some projects but also to find someone.
Supposedly, it was an aunt who'd run away for love years ago. But Maple Valley was huge, and he hadn't found her yet. He finally got a lead from this nursing home, so he came over.
Lynda wasn't interested in that; she was more curious about who Isabella was visiting.
She looked up at the peaceful nursing home, a knowing smile on her lips.
Isabella walked step by step towards Janet's room. Halfway there, she ducked into the bathroom to get her emotions and expression in check.
She couldn't let Janet worry about her.
After about five minutes, Isabella finally managed to pull off a sweet smile in the mirror.
Her lips curved like little crescent moons, and her eyes followed suit.
Isabella looked like an innocent, cute little girl.
Samuel leaned against the bathroom wall, arms crossed, and couldn't help but be drawn to her. He flashed a genuine smile.
Isabella kept her smile as she turned around, only to be startled by Samuel's sudden appearance, causing her to step back a few paces.
"Am I that scary?" Samuel chuckled at her reaction. "Mrs. Lawrence."
"Samuel," Isabella regained her cool and greeted him distantly, "What a coincidence."
She gestured towards the sink, making a "please" gesture. "Sorry, I might've taken a bit long. Even though this is the ladies' room, some folks might have special preferences. Now, you can use it; I won't bother you any longer."
"Mrs. Lawrence," Samuel laughed, "You seem to dislike me."
If it weren't for the fact that he had given her a blood transfusion, Isabella would've rolled her eyes at him.
Samuel was Lynda's fiancé, not on her side, and had once let Grace go, almost causing her death. He was a total enemy, so of course, she disliked him.
"Samuel, you're overthinking it," Isabella replied coolly.
Samuel stopped teasing and got serious, "Mrs. Lawrence, a real smile isn't just on the lips but in the eyes. Your eyes tell me you're upset; your smile makes me feel heartache, understand?"
The air seemed to freeze for a moment.
Isabella was momentarily stunned.
"What are you talking about? I don't get it," Isabella quickly regained her composure and smiled. "I have something to do, so I'll be going."
Samuel didn't let her leave; he stood up straight, blocking her path.
Isabella's face darkened, and her tone turned cold, "What do you mean, Samuel?"
"Mrs. Lawrence, do you want revenge?" Samuel got straight to the point, raising an eyebrow and smiling seductively. "I can help you."
Isabella felt like he was trying to lure her in.
"Samuel, can you speak in a way I can understand?" Isabella wasn't tempted at all; she stepped back, putting some distance between them.
Samuel said confidently, "You can understand."
"I don't know where you get your confidence from."
Isabella didn't want to waste time chatting with Samuel and walked past him with a serious expression.
"Just now, I heard your conversation with Lynda. Are you really going to let someone who almost killed you go?" Samuel asked lightly.
"What does this have to do with you? Are you here to get info for Lynda?"
Isabella stopped and looked back at Samuel, her cheeks full of suspicion.
But Samuel could tell she was using her suspicion to cover up her inner unease.
Isabella was furious.
Her outward calm hid her inner sadness, making him want to uncover her secrets and hug her.
Samuel seemed to hear the sound of a heartbeat pounding in his ears, one beat after another, in a chaotic rhythm.
"I was deceived by Lynda, manipulated like a fool, and almost fell into disaster because of her connections in prison."
