Chapter 316 I Wish I Could Tie Her on My Belts

She murmured, "That explains why you lied to me, saying that Sebastian liked me and why you were afraid I would divorce and take the child away."
Isabella, aware of the awkwardness between her and Jarod, shifted the conversation back to the initial question in a timely manner.
"Isabella, you're overthinking," Jarod's voice remained steady, devoid of any fluctuation. "Even if you get divorced, you won't be able to take the child."
Well, Isabella had to admit that Jarod, just like Sebastian, was equally detestable and held himself high above everything.
However, he was right. She couldn't compete with the Lawrence family for the child.
"Then why did you tell me so much?" Isabella pressed down the restless answer in her chest and asked, furrowing her brows.
Jarod stared at Isabella and said in a faint voice, "Don't merely skim the surface. Only by digging deeper can you find the truth."
"Just like digging into my situation, go back and check into Sebastian. You'll discover things you wouldn't dare to believe or think about. That's the real truth."
"Happiness and sweetness, within your reach, should be held onto tightly."
Isabella's gaze evaded. She was lost now; his words were shocking. How was that possible that Sebastion truly liked her?
She couldn't even imagine what it meant if he did like her. What was she doing all this time?
She couldn't believe it, because Sebastian truly cared for Lynda. In her mind, Sebastian unquestionably stood by Lynda's side every time, and Lynda had always been his firm choice. The hickey, the lighter symbolizing their first love, and... the recent birthday banquet, where he uttered all those heartless words, along with the sight of them in bed together this moring...How could Isabella possibly believe that she was the one Sebastian truly loved after witnessing all these?
Isabella couldn't believe it, but Jarod was so confident, even revealing this disguised secret to her as a gesture of sincerity...
Isabella felt physically weak. She was in a state of chaos, her mind buzzing.
"Think about it," Jarod said lightly.
Isabella couldn't even meet Jarod's eyes. She didn't want to see the certainty and insight in them.
"Jarod, rest assured, I won't meddle in your affairs." she stood up, a little flustered. "I'll leave first."
She took two steps, then paused. Isabella bit her lip, conflicted for a long time, before speaking again.
"People can't come back to life. Jarod, don't be so stubborn. Only if you're alive will your wife be remembered and cherished by others.
"But... if even you're gone, perhaps your wife will gradually be forgotten. That would be the true disappearance of her."
Jarod was playing with the ring on his ring finger, slowly turning it. Upon hearing Isabella's words, his adam's apple rolled down and then up. He loosened his grip, and the ring fell onto the table with a crisp sound.
Isabella let out a heavy sigh. Emotions could be deadly. Some people, though still alive, were like the walking dead.
Just like... Jarod.
After Isabella finished speaking, she didn't linger and left with her head down.
Jarod silently put the ring back on. However, his eyes were empty, staring at the scene outside the window, lost in thought for a long time. He had indeed entertained thoughts of suicide because reality was just too exhausting.
But Isabella's words just now seemed to cast a spell on him.
If he left like this, who would remember his wife in the future?
She, who was so vibrant, would truly be gone.
Jarod... was afraid.
Isabella looked very haggard on her way back to Willowbrook Estate. She took a shower and curled up in bed. Her mind was in a mess.
Sebastian liked her?
How was that possible?
He even forced her to do such shameless things and told her to leave...
Isabella became completely woke. Jarod's revelation of his long-standing pretense of power struggle caught her off guard!
Otherwise, how could she have been so conflicted about whether Sebastian loved her or not?
In reality, this matter was straightforward and clear.
It was clear that neither love nor even like was involved.
Isabella lay on her side in bed, casually browsing her phone.
Sebastian went to the hospital at the same time.
Joshua had just finished a round of chemotherapy, and his condition had stabilized slightly in the past few days.
However, chemotherapy had its side effects, and Joshua's body was weak, his complexion pale.
Sebastian glanced at him outside the ward, then turned to find the doctor to inquire about the situation.
After inquiring, he eventually entered Joshua's room.
From the bathroom in the ward, the sound of Joshua's constant coughing echoed.
Sebastian silently poured a glass of water for him and placed it on the bedside table. Then he sat on the sofa, legs crossed, lazily pressing his throbbing temples.
Joshua dried his hands and came out of the bathroom, holding his phone. In a hoarse voice, he commanded the person on the other end of the line, "Send a car to pick me up and bring two sets of clothes."
Sebastian leaned back on the sofa, giving him a sideways glance.
"Oh my God." Joshua was startled to see him and almost dropped his phone. "When did you come in?"
Sebastian didn't say anything, wearily closing his eyes. Half of his face was shrouded in shadow, giving off a cold and hard impression.
Joshua took the phone, noticed the water Sebastian had prepared, and took a sip before sitting across from Sebastian.
"I have to ask, what's going on with you? You made quite a scene," Joshua lowered his voice.
Sebastian squinted, a sharp light flashing in his eyes. He tightened his hand and remained silent.
Joshua shook his head helplessly. "Weren't things fine before? On your birthday, Isabella even came to me and recorded a birthday greeting for you."
"You have to understand that because of Brittany's situation, she really dislikes me. She wouldn't come to me unless it were absolutely necessary."
"And what did you do? Everything seemed fine, but a few days later, you left her at a banquet and ended up sleeping with another woman in a hotel."
"Fortunately, I kept an eye on the media last night and suppressed this news."
Sebastian's chest burned. If it weren't for the birthday greeting, he could have controlled his temper.
Now that Joshua mentioned it, he recalled all the deceptions Isabella had pulled on him.
"Don't worry about my affairs. Take care of yourself," Sebastian slightly suppressed his anger and looked in Joshua's direction. "I heard that you're going out?"
Joshua replied, "In about a week, I'm getting engaged, and there are many things to handle."
Sebastian sneered, "Brittany loves you so much, and yet you dumped her. Have you no shame?"
"Get lost. I wish I could tie her on my belts. You know very well why I did it. But..." Joshua touched his nose, looking innocent. "Who's got you so riled up? Why do you sound so awkward and aggrieved?"
