Chapter 407 It Hurts So Much
She cried and laughed, wanting to ask God why He was so cruel to her.
Since he had given her such a beautiful life, how could he take it back?
Isabella thought of the bedtime story Laura had once told her, where Cinderella's dream only lasted until midnight. After midnight, all the beauty vanished, returning to harsh reality.
Isabella bit her hand until it hurt, her sharp teeth piercing through the flesh of her palm, causing drops of blood to roll out.
She felt so powerless. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't overcome the excruciating pain in her chest.
Sebastian's voice was getting closer and closer.
Isabella heard him calling her name, calling her to come home.
But where was home?
Isabella didn't trust him.
Trust was so fragile.
Sebastian had deceived her for Lynda, lied to her, and concealed evidence for Lynda, allowing Lynda to remain unscathed after nearly killing her and the baby.
All of this shattered her trust into pieces.
The more she had trusted before, the more she couldn't believe now.
Isabella had no home, nowhere to go.
She had become that drifting, rootless person again.
Isabella's vision blurred. She thought she had cried all her tears, but tears kept streaming out.
Tears rolled down her cheeks, down her neck, and into her clothes, the cold sensation seeping into her skin.
Isabella could barely stand, but she didn't dare to squat down.
Her emotional turmoil might had already affected the baby. If she squatted down, she feared that terrible things might happen.
Her nails dug into the gaps between the stones on the wall.
Unknowingly, a few of her nails broke off.
In severe places, the red flesh was exposed.
"Sebastian," Isabella whispered painfully, "It hurts so much."
Her voice was as low as a mosquito's, blown away by a gust of wind.
Sebastian's voice gradually faded away.
He left the area.
Isabella sniffled and wiped the tears from her face.
She turned around to leave. Unexpectedly, in front of her appeared a pair of long legs wrapped in jeans, with canvas shoes below.
Isabella was slightly stunned and slowly looked up.
It was David, wearing a baseball cap, appearing in front of her again, as clean and handsome as ever, with a cool aura.
Isabella felt like she had seen him somewhere before, but she couldn't recall much.
The only thing she remembered was that day at the hospital when David had rushed past her in a panic and almost knocked her over.
"You have something to tell me, right?" Isabella's voice was hoarse, almost unrecognizable from its usual clear tone.
David quietly nodded.
He lowered his head, took off his backpack, unzipped it, and took out a white handkerchief, handing it to Isabella.
The unsolicited kindness from a stranger made Isabella hesitate, but she didn't want to accept it. "Thank you."
She didn't take it. She paused for a few seconds before saying, "If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving."
David stopped her.
Isabella frowned and asked, "Anything else?"
David opened his tightly clenched left hand, revealing a voice recorder in his palm.
"I recorded it in the café at the airport," David said. "Lynda paid me to."
"My grandma was sick, and I needed money, so I had to give it to her," David lowered his head. "I should have given it to you earlier. I'm sorry for causing a fight between you and your lover."
Isabella's tired brain took a while to recall what David was talking about.
It was a long time ago.
At that time, she thought Sebastian had deceived her for Lynda, acting and talking nonsense, and Sebastian found out.
She always thought Sebastian knew because he had someone watching her.
Now she realized it was Lynda all along.
It was Lynda!
The name was what Isabella hated the most.
Lynda had gone to great lengths!
Isabella gritted her teeth as if they were about to shatter.
She wouldn't let Lynda off so easily.
Why should Sebastian let her go? Sebastian wasn't the victim; he had no right!
Isabella took a deep breath and, After a while, she stared at the handsome David, who was about 6 feet tall. Slowly, her dormant memories began to awaken.
No wonder he seemed familiar. Back then, David had burned his hand in the café, and she had given him burn ointment.
Well, the story of the farmer and the snake was too common in this world to be surprising.
However, the snake that bit the farmer apologized, which surprised Isabella.
She didn't take the voice recorder. Instead, she said indifferently, "This matter is long past. The fight had nothing to do with you. I hope your grandma recovers soon. And I hope you don't do things that harm others for your own benefit."
"Surely, if your family knew where your money came from, they wouldn't use it."
A flash of pain quickly crossed David's eyes. His Adam's apple bobbed, and he clenched his hands, looking away.
Isabella felt a strange sense of closeness to David, for she could sense his discomfort and sadness.
She guessed that his grandma probably didn't make it, and her unintentional words had hit his sore spot.
Her heart inexplicably ached along with it.
Isabella had never felt this way about a stranger before.
How strange.
However, Isabella didn't think too much about it. She just assumed it was residual pain in her heart.
Isabella had more important things to do and didn't have time to waste on David. She turned to leave.
On the roadside, Isabella hailed a cab.
After telling the driver the destination, Isabella glanced out the window.
David bowed to her. From a distance, it was hard to see clearly, but she could vaguely see David apologizing to her.
He was just a tool; the real culprit was Lynda.
Isabella knew very well that everything was orchestrated by Lynda.
Lynda was the real culprit.
Isabella's hatred broke free and grew wildly.
Before Isabella's coma in the car accident, she had sweared that when she woke up, she would make Lynda pay for her blood debt.
Now, she was here.
Sebastian refused to act against Lynda, and even supported Lynda.
No matter, she would do it herself.
She couldn't stand it anymore after what happened to her.
Isabella lowered her head, stroking her belly, and silently said to her babies, "My dears, the grievances you suffered, Mommy will make them pay."
As Isabella stood at the entrance of Pine Ridge Gardens, her eyes were cold.
Impulsive?
Maybe.
Dangerous?
Undeniably.
However, if Sebastian wouldn't help, did she have any other options?
Would calling the police help?
With Sebastian and Samuel, how could Isabella call the police?
