Chapter 297 Isabella, Do You Love Me

Isabella pursed her lips and, based on the position of the cigarette butt, accurately pressed her fingertips against Sebastian's furrowed brow.
After smoothing it out, she said, "Actually, I don't really celebrate my birthday that much. It doesn't have to be so formal, and you didn't have to rush back."
Isabella's hand rested on Sebastian's forehead, and he remembered something she had said before. She wanted to be the one to smooth away his worries.
Sebastian's heart skipped a beat, causing a twinge in his chest. Who would have thought that everything was a lie?
He caressed Isabella's cheek, saying, "If I didn't come, it would be a joke, so I had to. No matter how busy, I had to come."
His actions were tender and affectionate, causing a shiver to run down Isabella's skin, making her feel her heartbeat faster. She was a bit overwhelmed.
"Isabella," Sebastian suddenly whispered in her ear, "Do you love me?"
Isabella was about to reply with a question, but Sebastian, as if anticipating it, gently placed his calloused fingertips on her lips. "You have only one chance, and your answer will decide what kind of birthday gift you'll receive. Tell me, do you love me or not?"
"Or perhaps... you have something else to say to me," Sebastian's Adam's apple bobbed, giving Isabella a chance to be honest.
Isabella's legs went so weak that she could barely stand. The proximity was too much, Sebastian's breath caressing her neck, right where her sensitive spot was. Her mouth was slightly agape, and she could clearly feel her heart pounding. She told herself it was all just a performance.
"I... I... love..."
When she slowly uttered the word "love," her voice trembled, filled with an almost teary quality. Isabella knew she had lost again; she hadn't stopped loving Sebastian.
Falling in love with someone is easy, but letting go completely is incredibly difficult. Being near that person again undoes all previous efforts.
At that moment, Sebastian chuckled softly above her and complimented, "Very good."
Sebastian leaned down and kissed Isabella's earlobe, his breath tickling her ear. Isabella trembled, wanting to retreat, but she was met with a wall behind her. She had nowhere to hide.
Then, Sebastian's expression turned ambiguous. He paused for a few seconds before saying, "Happy birthday. I will give you a big gift later as a token of your love for me."
He emphasized the word "love," biting it heavily.
Someone was knocking on the door outside.
"Isabella, are you there? The elders want you to come down so they can introduce you to some ladies."
"Go ahead," Sebastian ruffled Isabella's head and said, "I'll come down later."
The atmosphere was too ambiguous, and Isabella knew she had to run.
"Okay." She muttered as her heart pounded, and she quickly opened the door to leave.
A beam of light shone into the room, illuminating Sebastian's face.
There was not a smile on Sebastian's face; his expression was especially cold.
He leaned against the door, watching Isabella's retreating figure, with his eyes filled with hatred.
'Isabella, this is your last chance. But you are still playing tricks and refusing to tell the truth.' He thought.
Veins bulged on the back of his hands.
Isabella stepped out of the villa, took a deep breath, and calmed herself, adjusting her state.
After all, she held the title of "Mrs. Lawrence," so she couldn't lose her composure. She had to wear a smile, be graceful, and act with elegance and poise.
The servant led her to Mr. Lawrence Senior, who was chatting with some esteemed guests.
Isabella greeted him respectfully, "Grandpa Lawrence, you were looking for me?"
When he saw Isabella approaching, he smiled and said, "Look, this is our Sebastian's wife."
Then he proceeded to explain the identities of the people in front of Isabella, such as the matriarch of the Jackson family from Maple Valley and the lady from the White family.
Isabella had impressions of these people because she had done her homework beforehand. She greeted them obediently, and her training in broadcasting made her voice intentionally sweet.
Isabella was obedient and polite all the time, with impeccable smiles, facial expressions, and demeanor.
Mr. Lawrence Senior nodded in satisfaction.
Usually, senior women in the family would introduce the entire family to the new bride. However, since both Mrs. Lawrence Senior and Mrs. Lawrence had passed away years ago, Mr. Lawrence Senior had to attend to honor Isabella personally.
With the introductions completed, Mr. Lawrence Senior excused himself, "I'll leave you all to chat."
Isabella could sense his good intentions and understood that he still had to attend to the male guests, including Sebastian, who held even greater respect for him.
After Mr. Lawrence Senior left, Isabella naturally engaged in conversations with the ladies.
As the wife of the Lawrence family, she had to fulfill her duties and maintain her dignity, not only for herself but also to live up to Mr. Lawrence Senior's trust.
The butler followed Mr. Lawrence Senior toward the male guests and praised, "It seems that
Mrs. Lawrence is quite capable. Your trust in her is worthy."
Mr. Lawrence Senior smiled, his eyes almost disappearing into slits. He walked steadily with his cane and said, "Yes, I have to admit, the boy has a good eye this time. This girl is devoted to him, not seeking wealth or power, and handles things fairly. In the future, she will be a worthy mistress of the Lawrence family."
"Unlike some people who are not respectable," Mr. Lawrence Senior's tone changed abruptly, mocking, "using such lowly means. Does she really think the Lawrence family is a trash dump?"
The only person who could make Mr. Lawrence Senior so disdainful was none other than Lynda.
The butler played along, comforting Mr. Lawrence Senior, "Fortunately, Sebastian and Isabella have a stable relationship. Some people are just ridiculous, adding to the amusement."
Mr. Lawrence Senior smiled and agreed, "Yes, I can rest assured about these two. After this banquet, I need to plan for Jarod. Amber mingles in society while still concealing the identity of the Lawrence family's heiress. Her father and I can't openly arrange for her to meet potential suitors."
The butler continued to agree with Mr. Lawrence Senior, making him laugh heartily.
"Oh, by the way, remind Sebastian to come down. It's almost 8.00 p.m., and the opening dance requires the couple to dance together," he added.
The butler replied, "Yes."
"Mr. Lawrence Senior, long time no see..." Someone came over to greet him, and he joined in the socializing.
Isabella chatted with the ladies for a while, and then the Wallace family arrived.
As Mr. Wallace stepped into the old mansion, the butler led him to meet Mr. Lawrence Senior and Mr. Lawrence.
Judy and Sharon naturally walked toward Isabella couldn't stand to see Isabella doing well
Worried that something might happen, Isabella politely dismissed the female relatives and instructed the waiter to take good care of them.
