Chapter 165: The Possible Stepmother

"Who...are you?" Isabella asked, "Did you deliver to the wrong place?"

"Is this Miss Isabella?" the delivery person asked.

"Yes, it's me," she replied, "but I didn't order anything."

"The address and recipient's name are correct."

Isabella was about to say something more when Wei Ping hurriedly approached, "Madam, these are your things."

"But I didn't buy anything."

"They were purchased by Mr. Lawrence for you."

Isabella became even more confused, "But I didn't ask him to buy anything for me! What's inside these boxes?"

"Snacks," Wei Ping answered. "Two large boxes, I think they should last you a month. Too much is not good, they may expire if kept for too long."

As he spoke, he motioned for the delivery person to place the boxes in the office.

While busy, Wei Ping didn't forget to add, "Madam, didn't you go to the convenience store this morning to buy snacks? So, Mr. Lawrence specially had these delivered for you. Look, how concerned Mr. Lawrence is about you."

Isabella: "..." She chuckled and just wanted to leave quickly.

"If you like to eat them, just let me know..."

"Well, alright, thanks, just leave them there," Isabella said. "It's fine, I'll handle it."

"It's not me you should thank, it's Mr. Lawrence."

"Oh, right, thank you, Sebastian, I'm really grateful to him, to his whole family..."

Wei Ping laughed, "Mr. Lawrence will be happy to see that you like them so much."

"Yes, yes, I really like them..."

Isabella responded half-heartedly and finally managed to persuade Wei Ping and the delivery person to leave.

She glanced at the pile of snacks in the corner, feeling puzzled.

What the heck, Sebastian bought snacks for her? What kind of concern is this?

She didn't really enjoy eating snacks in the first place.

Isabella walked out of the office and hurriedly went to the restroom.

There's a saying, "Guilty conscience," even though it was a perfectly normal thing, Isabella felt extremely nervous, as if someone was watching her and reading all her thoughts.

Once inside the restroom, she locked the door, sat on the toilet, and tapped her chest, taking a long breath of relief.

After repeatedly taking deep breaths, Isabella took out the pregnancy test kit hidden in her pocket.

She bought two of them, to test twice to make sure there were no mistakes.

If this step confirmed it, she would tell Sebastian and then go to the hospital for further examination.

These few minutes felt immensely long for Isabella.

She stared at the red line on the pregnancy test kit, afraid to even blink, fearing she might miss something.

Slowly, another red line began to appear, but...

Isabella looked at the pregnancy test stick in her hand. Just like the first one, there were two red lines. Two lines... She was pregnant!

Holding the test stick, Isabella felt a chill running through her fingertips and her heart. She couldn't describe how she felt right now, but she was confused and helpless. The child Sebastian wanted might actually be coming.

Although the accuracy of the pregnancy test stick wasn't one hundred percent accurate, it was usually pretty reliable. It shouldn't be wrong. Suddenly, footsteps sounded outside.

Startled, Isabella quickly wrapped the two test sticks in layers of tissue paper and threw them into the trash bin, making sure nothing could be seen. Only then did Isabella stand up and leave the bathroom.

She stood in front of the sink, looking at herself in the mirror. Isabella's menstrual cycle was always regular, and when it didn't come on time this month, she paid attention. She also recalled the sudden increase in appetite and the morning sickness that had appeared in the past two days...

Now, with the positive result from the pregnancy test, her thoughts were confirmed. Water flowed in the sink as Isabella lost herself in thought. She wondered how she should tell Sebastian, and what to say. The arrival of the child was to be expected.

For some reason, she wanted to keep it a secret. Her hands were wrinkled from the water when Isabella remembered to turn off the tap. Just then, her phone rang.

Hastily drying her hands, Isabella took out her phone and saw an unfamiliar number.

"Hello, who is this?" she answered.

"It's Isabella," a familiar female voice spoke. "Let's meet up."

She looked at herself in the mirror and said a name, "Lynda."

"It's me. Since I came back to the country, we haven't met alone. Would you like to chat?" Lynda suggested.

"I'm busy with work. I don’t have time," Isabella declined.

"Are you afraid to see me?" Lynda chuckled. "Yesterday, when you were drunk, Sebastian answered the call and left me to go find you. I didn't expect... you to have some skills."

"I just don't want to see you, you are wasting my time," Isabella replied.

"I saved Bob from your hands, letting your precious Wallace fall from grace. Don't you have anything to say to me?" Lynda asked.

"Not really. If you hadn't mentioned it, I would've forgotten about it," Isabella answered.

"You're not a good person to deal with," Lynda said. "Well, I'm not easy either. Let's talk privately, honestly."

"I said I don't want to see you. Can't you understand?" Isabella snapped.

"But I want to see you. And I want to tell you... some secrets," Lynda said.

"I'm not interested. Your tricks, your manipulations, they're all boring. Lynda, in front of Sebastian, you pretend to be weak, pitiful, and loving."

"Pretend to be innocent, and it's best to keep acting that way."

"Okay, since you're like this, there's no need to hide the secret I want to tell you." Lynda smiled and said, "Actually, it's nothing much. It's just about how I should take care of the children you'll have in the future."

Isabella suddenly griped her phone tightly.

The custody of her child would definitely end up in Sebastian's hands.

And Lynda...she was the most likely person to become a stepmother to her child.

"Sorry." Lynda was very polite, "Sorry to disturb you."

"Wait a moment."

"What's wrong?"

"Where are you?" Isabella said, "I'll come over now."

"Alright."

Isabella put away her phone, looked at the address Lynda had sent, and bit her lip.

Lynda couldn't hold back and came to find her first.

It was because...last night, Sebastian was supposed to stay with Lynda but left because she went to a bar.

Lynda realized something was wrong.

Truthfully, Isabella was also surprised.

Sebastian not only left Lynda behind and rushed to the bar, bringing her home while she was "drunk", but also stayed by her side...saying those things.

Isabella could still clearly remember Sebastian's expression at that time.

But since she woke up this morning, he had returned to his usual self, deep and stern.

Was it that only when she was unconscious, Sebastian dared to show his true side to her?

At the Coffee shop, Lynda sat by the window, wearing a white dress

At first glance, Isabella thought...she really resembled a blooming white lotus flower.
