Chapter 39 Don’t go, don’t leave me
The next day, when Isabella woke up, the air around her was already icy cold.
Glancing at the time, it was already past ten in the morning. She had slept for so long... Sebastian must have already gone to the office.
She got up and dragged her exhausted body to the bathroom.
Looking at her reflection in the mirror, Isabella's foggy mind suddenly became clear. She widened her eyes and grabbed onto her collar.
So many love hickeys... Sebastian seems afraid that no one knows what she went through last night!
It's early summer now, how is she going to hide these marks?
He clearly did it on purpose, making her look bad, just like yesterday at the Lawrence family, when he left shallow marks at the corner of her mouth!
Isabella spent a long time in the dressing room before finally finding a high collar dress that could barely cover the green and purple marks on her neck.
"Madam." After coming downstairs, the butler respectfully asked as usual, "What would you like for breakfast?"
"It doesn't matter."
"Mr. Lawrence specifically instructed before leaving that you should rest at home today because you don't feel well." The butler said, "Madam, do you want me to call the family doctor?"
Isabella quickly declined, "No need, I'm fine..." Isabella closed her eyes and surrendered completely, giving herself up.
Since... giving in sooner or later, it's all about giving herself to him, why bother trying to escape.
Just enjoy it.
If Isabella is able to completely immerse herself in the role of "Mrs. Lawrence," actually, she would live very well.
Sebastian may have a bad temper, a cold expression, like an iceberg, with a poker face, but in reality, he knows very well what a woman needs and when to give it to her.
But she got greedy, she wanted more... Sebastian can give her a lot of money, but he won't give her a lot of love.
Who made Sebastian meddle in everything? Any discomfort is because of him... He's too enduring, making it unbearable for her!
He even said that this time he let her off, but next time, will she even be able to get out of bed?
The butler hesitated, "But Mr. Lawrence..."
"After I finish breakfast, I will go to the hospital to see my grandmother, then make a trip to the Wallace family," Isabella said, "Prepare the car for me."
"Yes, madam."
The butler agreed and left the dining room to call Sebastian for instructions.
Sebastian paused for a moment and said, "Arrange two bodyguards to protect her secretly."
"Okay, Mr. Lawrence."
Sebastian hung up the phone and glanced at the employees in the conference room, raising an eyebrow, "Continue."
Joshua coughed deliberately, "Mr. Lawrence, during work hours... it's better not to answer personal calls, it doesn't look good. As the boss, you should lead by example."
He was the only one in the company who dared to speak to Sebastian like this.
"Pay attention next time." Sebastian replied nonchalantly, "But it concerns my wife, I prioritize her."
The others in the conference room looked at each other, excited in their hearts, but dare not show it on their faces.
Mr. Lawrence got married!!!
"Oh, by the way," Sebastian tapped the table with his fingers, "Kaine, after the meeting, have the PR department come to my office."
"Yes, Mr. Lawrence."
Joshua sat in the first seat to Sebastian's right, leaning over and lowering his voice, "I can tell that you're in a good mood today... radiant."
"Don't want to see me doing well?"
"Perhaps Isabella is suffering, being drained by you..."
Sebastian kicked him under the table, but a smile curved his lips.
The words were crude, but not without merit. After utterly devouring Isabella, he did feel refreshed and satisfied.
"A married man is different." Joshua said, "Mr. Lawrence, you must restrain yourself!"
As soon as he finished speaking, he received another kick.
Isabella went to the hospital, and the nurse sitting by the bedside was taken aback when she saw her. "You are..."
"I came to see my grandmother."
"You must be Mrs. Lawrence." The nurse immediately stood up. "I'm sorry, I haven't met you since taking care of Grandma, so..."
"It's okay." Isabella walked to the bedside. "Has my grandmother not woken up yet?"
"She woke up for a while when the doctor came for rounds in the morning. She drank some water and a few spoonfuls of porridge and then went back to sleep."
Isabella carefully observed her grandmother, who was still sleeping, but her complexion had clearly improved compared to before.
After a few words with the nurse, she went to the attending physician's office.
"...Your husband sent a medical team over, and we discussed a new treatment plan. Grandma's condition has obviously improved, Miss Wallace, you don't have to worry too much."
"I understand, thank you."
"However, family members should still spend some time with her." The doctor pushed his glasses up his nose. "Although the medical expenses have been paid, and a top-notch medical team has arrived, none of your family members have come during this time."
Isabella lowered her eyes. "I will try to find time to spend more time with my grandmother."
It was no surprise to her that Judy and her daughter didn't come, but why hadn't her father come to visit her grandmother?
She had to go to the Wallace family.
Leaving the doctor's office, Isabella was walking toward the elevator when suddenly a sinister voice came from beside her. "Isn't this Mrs. Lawrence? What a coincidence to meet you here..."
She followed the voice and smiled. "Yes, what a coincidence, Grace. It seems that we keep running into each other."
Grace looked at her, unable to hide her hatred in her eyes. "Fancy Mrs. Lawrence, why are you alone in the hospital? Don't tell me there's some infertility problem that's too embarrassing to be seen?"
Isabella calmly replied, "When I get pregnant with Sebastian's child, I will invite you to our wedding banquet."
"Isabella, you're going too far! After you humiliated me last time and made me lose face, I will remember it for the rest of my life!"
"Since you suffered last time, why don't you learn your lesson and still come here to provoke me, Miss Turner?"
Grace said, "You can be proud all you want, but you're nothing without Sebastian! Without him, who do you think you are? Just a bankrupt heiress that no one in New York dares to lend money to!"
"But luckily, fate brought me Sebastian," Isabella smiled. "Do you have a problem with that? Even if you don't like it, you have to swallow it. You know how much he protects and loves me."
Grace was infuriated but dared not do anything to Isabella.
If she were to confront Isabella head-on, she would be the one to suffer.
"Oh, by the way," Isabella remembered something. "How did you manage to leave the house? If I remember correctly, the Turner family...
"You're grounded for reflecting on your actions!"
Grace's face changed, "I... what does it have to do with you?"
"It's none of my business, but I'll ask Sebastian what's going on."
"Isabella!" Grace clenched her teeth, "Don't push people too much."
"If someone doesn't provoke me, I won't provoke them." She shrugged, "You should put yourself in the right place first and clean up your mouth, then come talk to me."
After speaking, Isabella turned and walked away.
She didn't have time to argue with Grace and waste her expressions.
"Ultimately, men can't be relied upon, especially without a powerful family background!" Grace stopped her way, "Isabella, do you really think Mrs. Lawrence's position is easy to attain?"
"Whether it's easy or not, only those who have sat in it have the qualification to judge. You haven't even come close, so just shut up."
"Let me tell you, Isabella, don't be too arrogant now. Someday, you will fall hard. At that time, I will give you back the humiliation you gave me, tenfold!"
"Maybe you won't live to see that day, Miss Turner."
Suddenly, Grace smiled, getting closer to her, "I know Sebastian treats you well, but how long have you known him? You have no idea what he's been through and what he's thinking. Isabella, I know better than you."
Looking at the smile in Grace's eyes, Isabella almost simultaneously thought of the words of Jarod Lawrence, the eldest brother of the Lawrence family.
Could it be... Does Grace know something?!
