Chapter 233 No One Can Covet You

Isabella stood up and straightened her back, elevating her chin. She raised her voice, "I believe that all evildoers and villains ought to bear the consequences."

Isabella admitted she had been greedy.

Grace was already sent to the police station, but what about Lynda, another Lynda, another participant in this mess?

Thus, she conveyed her point rather clearly, leaving little to the imagination without saying any names.

Sebastian listened quietly, his eyes moving from her full lips to her eyes. "Not a bad inspection. I'm pleased with how much you've learned under my tutelage."

"Hmph," she tossed her head with a haughty lift of her chin, "Of course."

"However, you shouldn't be concerned about what comes next. Nobody will be able to frame my wife, and Grace will get payback."

Isabella held her breath, expectation in her unblinking eyes. But after a few seconds, she became aware—with a pang of foolishness—that Sebastian was done talking.

"And what about Lynda?" she asked, pushing her chances.

Sebastian reaffirmed his position, saying, "I’ll handle Grace without evidence, and Lynda will apologize if she's involved. As for you; refrain from getting involved."

He was certain Lynda was incapable of cooperating in murder.

Although she was undoubtedly involved, Grace appeared to have acted alone, driven mostly by her intense dislike for Isabella.

As for Lynda and Isabella, the few occasions they had ever crossed paths were insignificant; it was hardly a basis for drive someone with murderous jealousy.

As expected, Isabella wasn't surprised.

Although Sebastian did have some feelings for her, Lynda was the one who truly captured his heart. Even as Mrs. Lawrence, she seemed to tower above Isabella in his eyes.

"Is that everything?" he asked casually.

"Yep," she responded. What more was there to say?

"Alright, my turn now."

He then put his fingers on her chin, tilting her face side to side while casting a calm, approving look at her.

The gesture seemed humiliating and trampled over Isabella's pride, like a salesperson examining an object to determine its value.

She felt... cheap.

Isabella frowned, "You…"

His finger touched her lips and said, "Shh," before she could say anything to show how outraged she was.

With pursed lips, she swallowed her humiliation and all of her complaints.

With a reassuring pat on her head, Sebastian removed his hand and murmured absentmindedly, "Aren't you jealous of Marcus's fiancée?"

Isabella was taken aback, "Why should I be? I'm not into him."

She really wanted to confront him; didn't she explain already? Did she really need to say it so many times? Despite all that, he was still asking?

"Really?" Sebastian prodded a spot over her heart.

"He's truly happy now, so I'm glad for him."

"Alright," Sebastian said, "I believe you this time."

"You should've trusted me a while ago," Isabella mumbled to herself.

Sebastian's lips briefly lit up in a smile, and the thick cloud of annoyance that had been hovering over his heart lifted like cool wind.

Just like that, he scowled and whispered in her ear, "You can say that you're not into Marcus, but unfortunately, it seems not everyone agrees."

"So what?" she retorted, "Isn't it enough that I already watch myself?"

Her ear tingled with a mixture of heat and cold when his warm breath caressed it, but her heart was cold. "I'm not a miracle worker, Sebastian. What other people believe is beyond my control."

He pulled her into his hug and rubbed her back after lightly squeezing her earlobe. "Isabella, nobody should touch what’s mine."

"I know. I'm yours."

"Now that Marcus is awake and the Coopers have settled their scores, you shouldn't feel any guilt toward them."

With a strong, focused tone, he said, "For your sake, I won't touch Marcus now, but if he dares to act on his emotions or comes visit you, I can't promise I can tolerate it." Isabella listened intently as he continued.

The hospital room was filled with the overpowering smell of disinfectant, which Isabella had always found overpowering. Her chest felt constricted, as if she was having trouble breathing.

But that suffocation was nothing in Sebastian's eyes. Even his smell, which normally gave her comfort, made her uneasy right now.

She genuinely couldn't understand how this intricate issue had developed from a seemingly simple transaction.

Furthermore, she couldn't fully understand why Sebastian, with Lynda's unwavering position in his heart, kept on keeping her on edge, emphasizing Lynda's significance in one breath and pulling it away in the next.

"Sebastian, you've said it many times," she replied, her brain aching with confusion. "Do you think I'm too simple-minded to understand, or are you just repeating yourself?"

"What do you think?" he retorted, looking down at the crown of her head.

Idiot...

The thought echoed in Isabella's head as she fought the urge to roll her eyes.

She swiftly escaped his embrace. "Let's go. Both the baby and I don't enjoy the atmosphere of hospitals."

"Okay."

She moved forward, but Sebastian caught her hand after a few paces.

When she looked down, she saw big hands holding little ones together, their fingers tightly linked.

She murmured to herself, "Do you even know what these tender gestures truly mean, Sebastian?"

Isabella excused herself to use the toilet after leaving the room, telling Sebastian to go get the car from the garage.

Though he was hesitant to leave her, she managed to persuade him with a stronger excuse.

She left the bathroom and walked out of the hospital. Looking over her neck, she briefly glanced in Marcus's direction. She didn't look that way when Sebastian was with her in order to prevent difficulties.

A long, lingering look later, it was time to say goodbye.

This would be her goodbye to Marcus; she hoped he'd take over the Cooper family and find happiness and tranquility. She wanted him to fall in love as well as live a long and fulfilling life.

"Help, someone's kidnapping me! Somebody save me, please!"

A sudden, piercing ache shot through Isabella's head as she heard a woman's cry. The voice was familiar in an uncanny way. She stared toward the source of the disturbance, startled.

Grace!

They hadn't taken her away yet.

She was seated on the ground, weeping furiously while holding to the railing. With little more than her collar in his hands, the security guard who had tried to escort her away was at a loss.

A crowd of bystanders appeared around them as a result of her loud shouts, all gesturing and murmuring.

The bodyguard seemed to have never encountered such a scene before. He didn't dare to act aggressively because he knew that if he did, he'd be incriminated.

Just as Isabella was considering calling the police, the sounds of a siren grew closer. Apparently, someone had already alerted them, and their target was Grace.
