Chapter 382 Lynda, Take Care of Yourself
"I thought you loved me deeply, and I felt guilty. I promised to set up a foundation for you and even planned to give you 2% of The Lawrence Group's shares," Sebastian said.
"I believed in your innocence and kindness, that you stayed true to your intentions. Even when Isabella accused you, I defended you, which caused a rift between us, leading to this morning's events."
Sebastian's grip tightened. "Isn't this exactly what you planned?"
Lynda groaned in pain, her face turning red and white, clearly wanting to speak but unable to.
Her mouth was pressed by the phone, and her jaw was gripped so tightly it felt like it might dislocate, making it impossible to speak.
Sebastian released her coldly. "Speak."
Lynda collapsed, clutching her chest and gasping for air. She looked up, crying, "No! I didn't. I truly love you, only you! I don't care about anyone else!"
Outside, Samuel paused with his hand on the door.
Pamela, standing beside him, broke out in a cold sweat, wondering why did they both suddenly come here.
Pamela wanted to warn Lynda inside, but the warning look above her made her shiver.
She lowered her head, clasping her hands together, her shoulders trembling.
Inside, Lynda's voice grew louder, drowning out the faint noises outside.
"I'm the one who loves you the most," Lynda shouted. "What makes Isabella so special? She is nothing! No one loves you as much as I do!"
Sebastian looked down at her, imposing. "Do you really want me to gather all the evidence?"
Lynda realized the person in front of her was different from Samuel.
She couldn't seduce him. Her heart sank.
"Answer me!" Sebastian's voice deepened. "Did you say and do those things?"
"Yes!" Lynda nodded. "I said Isabella's baby is a bastard. I said it."
Sebastian's hands clamped around Lynda's neck like hot irons.
Lynda's face quickly lost color, her lips trembling. "Let go."
She flailed like a fish out of water, her hands slapping and struggling against Sebastian's arms.
"I was just talking," Lynda said, "I did save her. But I was unwilling. Can't I say something in anger?"
Sebastian looked at her, his gaze colder than looking at a stranger. "Excuses."
"No, let go." Lynda struggled in vain, clutching her chest again. "It hurts."
Considering Betty, Sebastian let her go.
He shook his head wearily. "This ends here. Take care of yourself."
With that, Sebastian turned around.
Lynda's pupils contracted, and her heart skipped a beat.
She lunged forward, hugging Sebastian's leg desperately. "No, don't go!"
She coughed continuously, explaining, "You misunderstood me. I really saved Isabella. I was just talking. I love you. If Isabella died, I could be with you. But I had to save her, so I said some harsh words."
Sebastian never thought the once obedient Lynda could turn so deceitful and malicious.
He closed his eyes, his lips parting briefly. "The surveillance video shows your crime in detail. Do you think I don't want to believe you?"
"You saw it wrong! You must have seen it wrong!" Lynda clung to Sebastian, refusing to let him leave.
Sebastian opened his eyes, coldly asking, "Fine, then tell me. How did Grace get out of prison, and how did you and Samuel hide it from me?"
"I didn't, I don't know what you mean, Sebastian, I don't know!"
Lynda still wouldn't admit it, claiming ignorance.
"The influence of Embercrest Heights, you don't know?"
"What Embercrest Heights? I don't know!"
As soon as Lynda finished speaking, Sebastian's phone rang.
He glanced at the screen but didn't answer. "Whether it was you and Samuel who released Grace, the answer and evidence are already complete. I'll ask you one last time, was it you?"
Lynda's heart skipped a beat. Sebastian was so calm, she had a bad feeling.
But she didn't believe he could uncover the whole truth in such a short time.
Lynda and Samuel had started plotting a month ago. How could he have found out everything in less than a day?
She believed that Sebastian must be lying to her.
Lynda clung to a glimmer of hope, firmly denying, "No, it wasn't me!"
Sebastian suppressed his anger. "Do I need to remind you again that this is Maple Valley, my territory?"
The phone kept buzzing, each buzz striking Lynda's heart.
She was in agony, swallowing nervously.
Sebastian's words were indeed frightening.
"Countdown. Three. Two."
Lynda felt like she was enduring endless torment.
She couldn't withstand Sebastian's overwhelming presence.
This was a psychological battle, a judgment.
"Time's up," Sebastian said mercilessly.
"Speak." The phone stopped buzzing as Sebastian answered the call.
Inside, Sebastian's low, cold voice echoed again. His simple word cut like scissors, severing the taut string in Lynda's mind.
Lynda had been hugging Sebastian's leg, kneeling on the ground.
Now, she sat on the floor in despair, her hands weakly releasing his leg.
Facing off against Sebastian was terrifying.
Lynda couldn't bear this suffocating atmosphere.
Her mouth slightly open, lips trembling. She pressed her hands on the floor, her nails scratching the floorboards, making a grating sound.
"So, the person behind all this is Samuel," Sebastian summarized for Kaine on the other end of the call.
"Yes, Mr. Lawrence," Kaine's respectful voice came through the receiver. "I'll send the relevant evidence and documents to your email."
Sebastian responded and hung up.
For a moment, all sounds in the room disappeared.
With his back to Lynda, Sebastian spoke hoarsely. "From releasing Grace, to the car accident, to pushing people, to saying hurtful things to provoke Isabella, it was all you.
"At this point, do you have anything left to say?"
Lynda's mind went blank. She no longer cried or shed tears, just staring blankly at Sebastian's tall, straight back.
