Chapter 145 I Dare Not Make You Jealous
Joshua's face had turned so black that it seemed as if ink would drip from it any moment.
"I overheard your conversation with Isabella earlier," he said coldly. "You still plan on taking her out for drinks and getting drunk?"
Brittany's expression also turned sour. "You have a habit of eavesdropping. How did I never notice before?"
"You two were so loud, it was like using a megaphone for publicity."
"Yeah, we're going to have a drink together, relax a bit. Any problem with that?"
Brittany asked.
"Even if you can control me, can you control Isabella?"
"I can't control her," Joshua replied. "But Sebastian can."
"What are you planning?"
"Do you think Sebastian would agree to let her go to a bar?"
Brittany felt the urge to kick him hard. "Joshua! Does your family live in the Pacific Ocean or something?"
"If Sebastian finds out that going to the bar was your idea, he won't let it slide," Joshua warned.
"He's not someone you want to offend."
"As long as you don't say anything, he won't find out."
Joshua took a step forward.
"Brittany, I don't want you to become like this..."
"I have to go. I have an appointment with a client and I'm almost late," Brittany interrupted him.
"If I offend the client, will you take responsibility for the loss?"
Joshua stared at her for several seconds but didn't say anything. Instead, he took out an invitation card.
Brittany glanced at it but remained silent.
"This is an engagement banquet for me and Nicole. I kindly request you attend."
"There's already one at home, so I won't take this one. I can't be bothered," Brittany said as she opened the car door and got in.
Joshua wanted to say something more, but she slammed the car door shut, narrowly missing his hand.
When a woman's heart turns ruthless...Not many people can withstand it.
Joshua lowered his head and looked at the crimson invitation card he had been holding, tore it apart without blinking, and threw it into the trash can.
CEO's office.
Isabella glanced at the closed dark wooden door and walked towards the secretary's office.
Kaine seemed to appear out of nowhere. "Madam, you're here."
"Yeah, what's the matter?"
"Mr. Lawrence is looking for you," Kaine said. "You should go to his office."
"Did he say what it's about?"
"No, Mr. Lawrence only said that you should go to his office once you have arrived."
Isabella shrugged. "Since there's no urgency, why bother going?"
Kaine looked helpless.
"Madam, this... please don't make it difficult for me."
"Fine." Isabella sighed.
"Your job as my assistant is really tough. Alright, just for the sake of your face, I'll go."
She lightly knocked on the door and walked in. "Mr. Lawrence..."
Sebastian looked up from his desk and stared straight at her. Despite spending so much time with him, Isabella couldn't resist his intense gaze.
She turned her head and asked, "What do you need?"
"Come here," he said.
Isabella walked over to him.
"I said, come here," he repeated.
She stood still and replied, "I've already come here."
"I don't want to repeat myself for the third time."
Isabella knew very well that when he said "come here," he meant to come next to him. She hesitated, and Sebastian calmly said, "I heard that the Cooper Corporation is going to hold a board meeting."
Isabella said nothing, circled around the desk, and walked to his side.
Sebastian reached out and pulled her into his embrace, seating her on his lap, and held her slender waist with one hand.
He smirked, "So it's true, only by threatening you with Marcus can have an effect."
"I just don't want to involve him."
"But he hurt you."
"So, we won't have any dealings with each other anymore," Isabella replied, "Isn't that enough?"
Sebastian whispered, "But I always feel... you still have feelings for him."
"I don't. I'm with you now, almost completely enchanted by your charm. How could I have even the slightest interest in other men?"
Whether it pleased him or not, Sebastian let out a few faint laughs. His fingers moved downwards and rested on her fair and slender neck.
"I remember very clearly that I've left my mark here."
Isabella wanted to roll her eyes. How dare he say that!
Isn't it because of her?
"Why hide it?" Sebastian asked, "Do you feel ashamed?"
"Do you think it should be something to be proud of?"
"Not necessarily, but you seem disgusted," Sebastian held her chin, "Disgust that comes from the depths of your heart."
"Yes," Isabella admitted. After all, she had offended Sebastian more than once, "You always like leaving so many marks. Asserting your dominance, I suppose? It's boring and childish!"
Sebastian's eyes narrowed dangerously.
"You are already mine. Why would I need to assert dominance? Or is it that this body of yours, besides me, belongs to other men too?"
"Even if you gave me ten guts, I wouldn't dare to cheat on you!"
Sebastian coldly snorted and leaned against the back of his chair, but his arm was still around her waist.
He looked like an arrogant lord as he glanced at the table. "Bring me my phone."
Isabella reached out and picked it up, handing it to him.
He didn't take it.
"Turn it on."
Isabella was about to say that it has a password, but as soon as she touched it, the screen turned on.
She was a bit surprised that Sebastian's phone didn't have a password. Doesn't that mean anyone could unlock it?
But then she realized, with his status and position, who would dare to touch it without a reason?
His phone? She didn't have the guts for that.
"And then?" She looked at him, "What do you want to do?"
Sebastian gazed at her, "Aren't you curious about what's on my phone?"
"I'm not curious," Isabella pouted, "I'm not interested. Can you just hold it yourself? I'm not your robot."
"I want you to make a call," he said, "My grandpa's number is the first one in the contacts."
"I have to call grandpa?"
"Yes."
Isabella felt a bit flustered, "What should I say? I... I..."
"When grandpa came to Willow Brook Estate last time, what was it for? How did you respond to him? You've forgotten it all?"
