Chapter 337 Resentment as Romantic Rivals
Isabella hadn't been to a grocery store in a long time. This time, she felt quite tired from shopping.
She estimated that she had bought almost everything she needed and decided to head to the checkout.
On the way to the checkout, she passed by the baby products section.
She gently touched her belly, pushed the shopping cart, and led Sebastian into the baby products area.
After scanning around, she raised her chin, turned to look at him, and asked, "Isn't it a bit early?"
Sebastian's heart softened amidst the mall's hustle and bustle, but his attention was solely on a certain cute woman.
"As long as you're happy, it doesn't matter whether it's early or late."
Her heart was in turmoil, filled with sweetness, and she silently said, "I love you."
After saying that, she turned around, leaving the emotionally moved Sebastian behind.
She stopped in front of a row of baby books.
Looking up, she saw a prenatal education book recommended by a teacher in the baby class.
The book was on the top shelf, so she tiptoed and stretched her arm.
Unfortunately, she was just a little short. She tiptoed again, trying hard to reach it.
At that moment, a warm chest enveloped her from behind, a familiar scent filling her nostrils.
Soon after, a firm arm covered hers.
"This one?" Sebastian's slender fingers pointed to a certain book, slightly lowering his head to meet Isabella's gaze.
Isabella's heart raced.
"Yes." She nodded repeatedly like a pecking chicken, then quickly bent over to escape from between his chest and the shelf, turning to push the shopping cart.
Sebastian watched her shy demeanor, arms crossed, looking very relaxed.
As she pushed the cart past him, he stepped forward, one hand on the cart handle and the other on Isabella's shoulder, gently embracing her, softly saying, "Let me hold it."
She was shy but unable to resist turning to look at him, her eyes sparkling.
Sebastian's eyes held a smile as he led her to the checkout.
While shopping, she didn't feel she had purchased much. Upon leaving, carrying bags of items, Isabella realized how much she had bought.
Of course, it wasn't tiring for her; she just held onto the prenatal education book while Sebastian helped carry the rest.
She walked up the steps, and he walked down, side by side, in sync.
She smiled brightly. "I didn't truly feel like I have a home until now. The daily grind, the ups and downs. You're not just the lofty CEO of the Lawrence Group. You're just my husband. Together, we worry about life and daily matters, and in every little moment, we find joy and satisfaction."
"Thank you. I always thought that we were destined to a couple bound by a contract. But now, it seems we love each other," Isabella said, looking at him. She noticed he had been staring at her the whole time.
She instantly forgot what she was going to say.
Sebastian's heart softened greatly. He was enamored with this life, more fulfilling than signing billion-dollar projects.
He leaned down, his slightly cool lips touching Isabella's forehead, adding, "We can be together forever."
"Isabella!"
However, at this affectionate moment, another tense voice interrupted.
The voice was familiar. It was Marcus.
Isabella's first reaction wasn't to look at the speaker but to look at Sebastian. Sure enough, Sebastian's face immediately turned cold.
The air seemed to freeze.
"Let's go." Sebastian coldly continued walking forward, carrying the two large bags, his aura unaffected.
Isabella had already made it clear to Marcus that she didn't want to contact him anymore.
However, now that he had greeted her, she couldn't ignore him, given his past favor.
Sebastian, on the other hand, clearly intended to ignore Marcus. Considering his jealous nature, it would have been odd if he paid any attention to Marcus.
Isabella felt troubled. Clutching the prenatal education book, she took a few quick steps to catch up with Sebastian, and actively linked her arm with his.
Her palm subtly rubbed his arm several times. Sebastian lowered his gaze, still very displeased when he looked at her.
Isabella lightly bit her lip, smiling, "Say hello with me, okay? Otherwise, It would be impolite. You should set a good example for the baby."
Her tone was particularly gentle, coaxing, like grooming a dog.
Sebastian coldly snorted in pride.
However, before he could refuse, a gust of wind suddenly swept in front of him.
"Isabella." Marcus strode up to her. "Are you okay?"
He didn't hide his concern for Isabella at all, his voice nervous and anxious, treating Sebastian as if he were invisible. His eyes were only on Isabella.
Sebastian's throat burned, squinting his eyes, a dangerous, mocking smile forming on his face.
He didn't even have to speak; he effortlessly shifted the focus back to himself.
How would Marcus possibly ignore Sebastian? He was just pretending not to see him.
Both steeped in mutual resentment as romantic rivals, it was unthinkable for Marcus to turn a blind eye to this adversary.
Marcus's fingerbones tightened, his face full of anger, looking at Sebastian with hatred in his eyes.
The atmosphere became even more tense.
"Marcus," Isabella had to speak up, smiling to ease the tension, "Thank you for your concern. I'm alright. Are you doing well? Is your injury from last time okay?"
"Isabella, this man by your side abandoned you in public and went off with another woman. Why are you still with him?" Marcus interrupted Isabella, his eyes full of sorrow as he looked at her.
"We grew up together. We are childhood friends. Due to my father's mistake, I couldn't help you back then. Just because of that, you refuse to forgive me. So why do you easily forgive him?" Marcus tried to forget these years of feelings, but it wasn't that easy.
Slightly crazy and eager, he continued, "Isabella, was Sebastian forcing you?"
As he asked, Marcus's gaze fell on Isabella's hand, seeing her intimately linked with Sebastian's arm.
It wasn't an act; it was genuine intimacy.
Actions speak louder than words.
"No, he wasn't." Isabella denied firmly, "No one forced me."
Marcus's pupils contracted, and he opened his mouth, trying to deny it, but he couldn't get the words out, as if something was blocking his throat.
"Marcus, you saved me. If you ever need help in the future, I will definitely help."
Isabella wouldn't be in a relationship with two men at the same time.
