Chapter 386 The Surprise That Has Always Hooked Me
Isabella's earlobes turned red, and the color spread to her neck. She lowered her head, her smile widening. "I get it now. I'll never doubt your trust again."
She spoke softly, like soothing a child. "Yesterday, I had doubts. You kept asking for proof, and I thought you didn't trust me."
As she remembered last night's discomfort, her voice softened. "But then," she brightened up, "you went to find Lynda without evidence. This is a big deal, showing I'm number one in your heart!
"Our relationship has grown! We trust each other, and no one can separate us."
Isabella stood on tiptoe and kissed Sebastian lightly. "I'm fine, and the baby is, too. Take your time investigating. Lynda will get what she deserves."
Sebastian's eyes reflected Isabella's small figure, and a current spread through him. His heart fluttered, and his eardrums pounded with his heartbeat. He could only think about one thing - to hold onto the smiling Isabella in front of him and never let go.
Isabella felt shy under Sebastian's intense gaze. She coughed, trying to escape, but Sebastian's hand on her waist pulled her into a sweeter kiss. They were so close they could hear each other's heartbeats. Isabella's heart pounded wildly. She only knew she loved him and the baby.
As time passed, the kiss calmed. Sebastian's emotions stabilized, his mind cleared, and his heartbeat faded. A cold, mocking voice questioned him: "Do you really trust her? The words that made her so happy are lies. You have evidence, and Lynda admitted everything, but you hid it to protect her. Are you as good as she thinks? What will she do when the truth comes out? Will she leave?"
The intimacy vanished. Sebastian's eyes narrowed dangerously. He wouldn't let Isabella know. Then, she wouldn't leave him.
"It hurts," Isabella murmured. Sebastian realized he had grabbed her wrist too tightly. He frowned and let go, seeing a red mark.
"Does it hurt?" he asked, gently massaging her wrist.
Isabella said it didn't hurt and asked, "What were you thinking about? I called you several times."
"Nothing," Sebastian shook his head. "I was just distracted."
Isabella didn't push further. She noticed Sebastian's slight frown, something only she could see. Knowing him well, she saw the worry and hint of fear in his eyes.
Isabella had said what needed to be said but didn't know how to comfort him. Lynda was cunning, and investigating her would be tough. Sebastian probably felt guilty for not finding the truth and evidence right away.
Isabella felt it wasn't worth letting someone like Lynda affect their mood. She wanted to cheer Sebastian up. 'How could I make him happy?' she thought, and the answer was simple.
Isabella gently stroked her belly, gave Sebastian a mysterious smile, and led him to the hospital bed. She stood on tiptoe, pressed down on his shoulders, and made him sit.
"What's going on?" Sebastian asked, puzzled, instinctively reaching to pull her into his arms.
"Sit still," Isabella said, playfully swatting his hand away. "Don't move. I have a little secret to tell you."
Sebastian leaned back slightly, looking intrigued. "The surprise you've been hinting at?"
"Yes!" Isabella couldn't stop smiling. She pinched his chin, her thumb brushing against his stubble. She slowed her pace, teasing him. "Sebastian, are you nervous?"
The noon sunlight cast a golden glow across the room, highlighting Sebastian's chiseled features. He raised an eyebrow. "Mrs. Lawrence, the nervous one is you."
Isabella tilted her head. "You don't seem very calm either." She nodded towards his hands. He looked relaxed, but his tightly clenched fists betrayed his nervousness.
"Isabella," Sebastian chuckled softly, his voice dangerously magnetic. "Don't flirt with men like this. It's been over three months. We are allowed to do something dirty." He swallowed hard.
Isabella's thumb and forefinger pinched his chin, while her ring and pinky fingers played with his Adam's apple. She felt it move because of her actions. Suddenly, her hand felt numb, and her throat felt hot. She licked her dry lips, a mischievous thought popping into her head. She pushed his shoulder, making him fall back.
With her arms on either side of him, Isabella leaned over. Hovering above him, she smiled seductively. "How do you want to get dirty?" She poked his shoulder.
Sebastian was usually dominant, always taking the lead. He had never let Isabella be so bold and assertive. But now, his blood was boiling with excitement.
