Chapter 338 I Believe Him
She was firm and decisive. "However, I am in love with my husband. I implore you not to make any misleading statements. There's no longer anything between us. We can't be lovers, and equally, we can't be friends."
She severed ties with him without any hesitation.
Marcus's face turned pale as he stepped back. "Isabella, how did you get so deeply involved with Sebastian?"
"I love him."
These three words were the best answer. Marcus was stunned, and so was Sebastian.
However, once Sebastian realized, Isabella's words put him at ease.
Marcus's lips trembled. "Do you remember what I said to you at the hospital before? Sebastian is hiding something from you. He's not a good person. Although I haven't found out yet, there's definitely something, absolutely something!"
Sebastian's good mood lasted for only three seconds before Marcus shattered it once again.
His sharp and cold gaze pierced through Marcus like a sword.
Marcus sneered, glanced at Sebastian, and once again, with unwavering determination, said to Isabella, "Isabella, you can't outplay him. You will get hurt."
"I believe him." Isabella lifted her head, her tone firm, the light in her eyes astonishingly bright.
All of Marcus's words were stuck in his throat; he couldn't say a single word.
Sebastian also seemed distracted. He felt very comfortable inside as if embraced by a warm current, and eager to hug and kiss her.
He smirked silently, mocking Marcus's futile attempts.
After that, he lowered his head and said softly, "Let's go, Isabella, let's go home."
Isabella had already said everything she needed to say. There was no need to linger any longer.
However, she still wished Marcus well.."Marcus, I sincerely hope that you can find someone who truly loves you. Goodbye."
She smiled faintly, shifted her gaze away from Marcus, and hugged Sebastian's arm as she passed by Marcus.
After the rain, the weather turned cold. A gust of wind blew on Marcus's face, causing his body to shiver. He felt the coldness, the chill penetrating his pores and seeping into the crevices of his bones.
The person he had loved for so many years, at this moment, was truly irretrievable.
His father had destroyed and flattened his love.
Suppose only the Cooper family had been willing to help the Wallace family back then. In that case, he, Marcus, should have been the one to have Isabella, and the person she trusted unconditionally!
Why should Sebastian have that chance?
Marcus couldn't wait to return to the Cooper family and ask his domineering father why. Why did he do this back then?
He turned around and headed back to the car.
Marcus got into the car, closed the door, and, with his gaze heavy, instructed the driver, "Back to the Cooper family."
Inside the car, Heather propped her head up, playing games out of boredom.
Due to her engagement with Marcus and their collaboration, she spent a lot of time with him and lived in his apartment.
The two got along well, gradually becoming familiar, almost inseparable.
Sensing Marcus's anger, Heather stopped playing the game, turned her head to look at Marcus, teasingly said, "What's wrong? You just saw your beloved, but you're still so angry."
Marcus coughed softly. Although he felt the fire inside, he had no reason to vent on an innocent person, only saying, "It's nothing."
With her legs crossed, Heather reached out and held Marcus's chin, forcing him to look into her eyes.
"Darling, holding in your anger is bad for your health. If you want to cry, just cry."
Her actions and tone were very familiar and natural as if it wasn't the first time she had done this to Marcus.
Marcus's face visibly reddened. Every time faced with Heather's boldness, he became a bit awkward and at a loss.
Marcus pushed Heather's hand away, speaking somewhat hesitantly, "I'm a man. How can I just cry?"
Heather's countenance lit up instantly; compared to games, her fiancé was far more entertaining. This innocent man was truly tailored to Heather's tastes. With a gleam in her eye, she appraised Marcus's figure with satisfaction.
Drawing closer to him, she inquired, "Darling, how shall we engage in our kiss?
Drawing near, she pulled back as he evaded her. It wasn't until Marcus found himself cornered against the car door with no room to escape that he, with a composed demeanor, leveled with her, "Heather, it's warm inside the car; please refrain from standing so close."
"Could it be..." Heather's face drew nearer to Marcus, her enigmatic gaze locking onto his, "That you are still a virgin?"
Unsure of where to direct his gaze, Marcus cleared his throat, and gently pushed Heather away, blushing. "Don't do this. We are doomed to ba apart, I cannot tarnish your reputation."
Heather burst into laughter. She sat back, crossed her arms, and whistled at Marcus. "Darling, has anyone else seen this cute side of you besides me?"
Marcus cleared his throat, unsure of what to say, pretending to deal with something on his phone.
Heather's gaze never left Marcus. The more she looked, the more she felt that Marcus satisfied her preferences.
He was affectionate, cute, and innocent. He was good-looking with a good physique. Where else could she find such a man?
Although he had someone in his heart, challenging situations were more fun!
Marcus felt uncomfortable under her gaze, but fortunately, the car soon arrived at the Cooper family.
As soon as the car stopped, he got out and took a few quick steps, leaving Heather behind.
After walking a few steps, Marcus slowed down. He felt it was impolite to leave a girl behind like that.
Heather clearly felt Marcus slowing down, so she quickened her pace to catch up.
Standing behind Marcus, she suddenly stomped her foot. "Darling, are you waiting for me?"
Marcus was startled by her.
Heather laughed even more happily. "Why are you so cute?"
"Don't be shy." Before Marcus could get angry, she added in time, "You suddenly came to the Cooper family tonight. There must be something. Go ahead and take care of it. I'll be waiting for you in the living room. Hurry up; I don't want to act demure in front of the elders. Free me to go back to your place soon."
After spending time together, Marcus understood that Heather was carefree and unconstrained, finding it very difficult to maintain a demure appearance in front of the elders.
Amused by her, Marcus's lips curved slightly with a hint of a smile, his expression not as tense as before. "Alright, be right back."
