Chapter 317 I Suggest You Tell Brittany the Truth

Joshua pinched his chin and clicked his tongue twice. "You're jealous, don't you?"
Sebastian and Joshua, who grew up together, were not biological brothers, but they were as close as brothers.
Joshua immediately understood. "Isabella doesn't like you?"
Sebastian raised an eyebrow lightly, his eyes warning with a hint of suppressed anger, "Stay put. I'll have Brittany come to look after you. Sounds good?"
As he spoke, he instinctively reached for a cigarette but then remembered they were in a hospital and Joshua was coughing, so he withdrew his hand and rubbed his nose instead.
"You're just being defensive." Joshua shook his head, "I didn't want to provoke you, so don't tell her."
"But, Sebastian, are you sure Isabella doesn't like you? I think she does," Joshua sighed, "But do you really like her? I think you were quite harsh to her. She probably won't dare to celebrate her birthday again in the future. You truly live up to your reputation."
Sebastian lay on the sofa, closing his eyes. "Save your words."
Seeing the dark circles under Sebastian's eyes, Joshua didn't say anything more.
Joshua also understood that Sebastian was a control freak. He was possessive, and had a different way of handling emotions compared to others.
His feelings for Isabella were undeniable, but the way he conveyed them left others speechless.
Sebastian's phone kept vibrating, interrupting what Joshua wanted to say.
Sebastian took out his phone. He coldly stared at the screen, which displayed a picture sent by the person he had arranged to follow Isabella.
In the picture, Isabella was sitting across from Jarod, engaged in a conversation.
Sebastian's expression gradually darkened. He stood up, grabbed his coat, and headed outside.
"What's wrong?" Joshua thought something was wrong with the company and asked with a serious expression as he faced Sebastian's back, "When exactly will you arrange for an assistant general manager?"
Sebastian stopped in his tracks, not turning around. "I'll handle the company's affairs. Just take care of your mess. The side effects of chemotherapy are getting worse each time. Since you want to push her away, do it quickly, or you'll definitely be exposed."
"No matter what you do, I'll clean up after you. Just do what you need to do. But I hope you don't give up on yourself. There is no obstacle that can't be surmounted. So, I suggest you tell Brittany the truth."
Joshua swallowed, not saying a word.
Sebastian didn't force him; he opened the door and left.
After the door closed, only Joshua was left in the ward. Joshua pressed on his chest and took out a photo of Brittany from under the pillow. He stared at it for a long time, then placed the photo over his heart. Joshua could feel his heartbeat, but at the same time, he could feel his weak body.
He gazed at the ceiling and let out a bitter smile. He had known since he was young that loving someone meant letting her go.
Joshua took out his phone and repeatedly read the messages Brittany had sent him these days.
The contents were all about her concern for Larry Hall's safety, asking him to release Larry.
But Joshua found warmth in them.
The side effects of chemotherapy were too much, and he relied on Brittany's daily messages to get through it.
No matter who she was concerned about, as long as the sender was Brittany and the recipient was him, Joshua, it was enough.
Brittany: [I know you're busy preparing for your engagement with Nicole, but can you spare a moment to make a phone call to the police station and release Larry? I beg you.]
Brittany's message came on time today.
This time, Joshua didn't remain silent as he usually did. He typed: [I'll let him go after the engagement is over.]
At that moment, Joshua thought that he and Brittany were completely done.
Brittany replied quickly: [I hope you keep your word.]
Joshua felt a sharp pain in his heart. His Brittany didn't care whether he got engaged or not.
Everything was going according to plan, but why did it hurt so much?
Joshua: [Keep the day before the engagement free. I'll come to pick you up. Behave well and dress nicely, or else let Larry die in prison.]
Joshua had just finished replying to the message when someone knocked on the door.
Joshua thought it was his assistant coming to deliver clothes, so he glanced and called them in.
Unexpectedly, the person who entered was Nicole, whom he hadn't seen in a long time.
"Who allowed you to come?" Displeasure flashed across Joshua's face, and his cold gaze shifted away as soon as it landed on what Nicole was holding. "Put it down and leave."
Nicole bit her lip and walked to Joshua's bed, placing a suit on it. "Joshua, I met your assistant outside. He said you're going out. Wherever you're going, I'll go with you."
She looked at Joshua's emaciated appearance, unable to hold back her tears. Even though this man didn't love her, she couldn't help but love him. Joshua was like an addiction, captivating and irresistible.
"Go out, don't make me say it the third time."
"Joshua!" Nicole exclaimed anxiously, "Aren't you supposed to be busy with the engagement matters? Since we're preparing for the engagement, it's most appropriate for me to be with you. Otherwise... it would disappoint our cousin, wouldn't it?"
"We are partners and business associates, Joshua. Please don't reject me like this." Nicole cautiously looked up at Joshua.
"Don't call me that," Joshua said coldly, picking up his clothes and heading to the bathroom.
Nicole lowered her head in despair, biting her lip bitterly. She couldn't help but wonder if being so humble was the right thing to do.
Soon, Joshua came out after changing his clothes, and they left the hospital.
Not long after, news of Nicole and Joshua's trip to the jewelry store to buy rings spread like wildfire.
Sebastian's car was parked at Willowbrook Estate.
Isabella happened to see the news article about Joshua and Nicole choosing rings, feeling upset, she closed the page without hesitation, finding it repulsive to even stay for another second.
She opened WhatsApp, intending to comfort Brittany. However, after editing a caring message, she hesitated to send it.
Maybe Brittany hadn't seen it yet?
Isabella worried that sending it abruptly might make Brittany feel even worse. She put down her phone, adjusted to a more comfortable position, and closed her eyes. Coincidentally, as soon as she closed her eyes, someone entered the room, bringing in a chill. Isabella's eyes rolled, clutching the blanket, not moving a muscle.
Sebastian stood silently by the bed, his face cold as he gazed at Isabella lying on the bed.
Her smooth skin still had a hint of delicate pink, her lips were slightly curved, and she looked peacefully asleep.
Neither of them made a move, like a silent confrontation, waiting to see who would speak first and thereby lose.
Isabella felt Sebastian's gaze move from her face to her neck, then to her body.
It felt like... a violation.
He was making her feel uneasy all over.
