Chapter 449 Are You Trying to Drive Her Crazy?

Isabella felt a nasty taste in her mouth, like she was gonna hurl.

But her feet felt like they were glued to the floor, and she couldn't budge.

She just blinked, zoning out while Marcus kept yapping. Her brain was all foggy, not catching a single word he said.

So, whatever Marcus was saying didn't even register. She just stood there, quiet as a mouse.

To Marcus, it looked like Isabella didn't buy his story, like she was still fooling herself.

Marcus's face turned beet red, all worked up. "What's your deal? Why don't you believe me? It's just a dude, why's it so hard to move on?!"

"Marcus, enough!" Heather, who'd been watching all worried, stepped in and grabbed Marcus's wrist, saying urgently, "Let her go! How is she not believing you?"

Marcus let go of Isabella and turned to Heather, frowning hard. "Heather, you don't get Isabella. She doesn't believe it! We gotta snap her out of this; she can't stay stuck in a bad relationship!"

Heather could see Marcus was freaking out.

But she couldn't tell if he was worried as a friend or as an ex-fiancé.

Heather glanced at Isabella, who was just standing there, like she couldn't hear a thing between her and Marcus, lost in her own head.

This showed she was totally shocked!

Now, Heather was even more freaked out. She looked straight at Marcus and said, "She believed it; that's why she's like this now! Don't push her, enough! Are you trying to drive her nuts? Are you pushing her so hard to make her see Mr. Lawrence's flaws, notice how great you are, and get back with you?"

Heather was blunt, scared Marcus would drive Isabella crazy, and she was also pissed.

The idea that Marcus might want Isabella to see his good side and go back to their old engagement made her feel super uncomfortable.

"Heather!" Marcus shot back, "How can you say that! I just want Isabella to wake up fast, nothing else."

Heather believed him, but for a moment, she didn't know what hit her, and jealousy flared up.

She felt a bit ashamed.

She thought, 'Isabella's about to break down, in such a bad state, and I'm jealous of her!'

Heather silently cursed herself and quickly said, "If that's not the case, then take it slow. Why are you in such a rush? You can't push her like this."

With that, Heather turned around, about to ask if Isabella was okay, when she saw Isabella smiling like nothing happened.

She was clearly out of it just now, but now she was suddenly smiling.

Heather was stunned and got even more worried about Isabella.

"I'm fine," Isabella chuckled, "Sorry to make you worry."

She casually checked the time, then looked up with a perfect smile. "You guys go ahead with your stuff. I'll stay here and sort things out."

"Mrs. Lawrence," Heather said.

"Isabella," Marcus said.

Heather and Marcus frowned together.

Isabella shot Heather a sly look, raising an eyebrow. "You don't think I'm just faking being strong, do you?"

"Yeah," Heather blinked.

"Nope," Isabella shook her head. "Actually, Marcus is right. I don't buy this whole thing. It's too wild, so I'm staying chill."

Marcus was about to chime in, but Isabella cut him off, "I'll get to the bottom of this. I know you wouldn't lie to me; there's no point. But for something this big, I can't just take your word for it. What if the info you got is bogus?"

"Come on!" Marcus sighed, "I've told you the truth, and you still don't believe me. You don't trust me. I know you too well. You're not shocked; you just don't buy it."

Isabella pressed her lips together, staying silent.

"But," Marcus switched gears, "It's good for you to dig into it slowly. You'll start to see Sebastian's true colors. When you finally get the truth, it won't hit you as hard."

Isabella nodded, her eyelashes fluttering.

"Alright, Heather and I will head out. Think it over."

Isabella looked up. "Okay, it's raining out. Be careful. No matter what, whether I believe it or not, whether the info is true or false, thanks for telling me."

After sincerely thanking Marcus, Isabella gave Heather a small nod and smile. "Thanks, Heather."

Isabella stood there, all calm and collected, looking every bit the classy lady from a rich family.

Marcus and Heather were fooled by her act, not noticing her tightly clenched fists.

Her hands were so tight her knuckles were white, veins popping out.

When they left, her legs gave way, and she stumbled into the wall.

Leaning against the cold wall, she slowly slid down until she was sitting on the floor.

She couldn't cry or laugh, just zoning out again.

When Marcus was talking, she didn't hear a thing, but now, every word was stuck in her head.

Not a single word was forgotten.

Isabella didn't know what to think. She felt drained, powerless, and numb. She had no energy or thoughts left.

Her vision was dark, and Marcus's voice buzzed in her ears.

The hotel cleaning lady came by and saw Isabella sitting on the floor with empty eyes.

She put down the mop, took off her gloves, and hurried over to help Isabella up. "Miss, what's wrong? Is your stomach hurting? Do you need to go to the hospital?"

Isabella felt someone pulling her up, talking to her, calling her name, the voice full of concern.

She thought, 'Why bother?

'Heather and Marcus were worried about me, and feeling sorry for me.'

Isabella hated being pitied. She forced herself to smile again.
