Chapter 102 Swallowing One's Pride When One's Daughter is Betrayed

"...No one knows how much it hurts."
"I know."

"But you wouldn't take care of me," Brittany replied, "Next time, when I'm feeling down, I'll still go drinking..."

As she spoke, she shifted and found the most comfortable position, leaning back against the chair with her eyes closed.

She reclined her seat a bit, lying on her side and facing Joshua.

Unfortunately, Brittany was wearing a low-cut black dress today. So when she leaned towards Joshua like this, her front view was fully exposed.

Joshua's Adam's apple bobbed up and down.

However, he couldn't control himself and his gaze fixated on that snowy expanse.

He had once loved this woman in front of him so much...

Joshua was a normal man. How could he resist such a situation?

He could only endure and not look at her, grabbing his suit jacket and covering her, concealing that alluring sight.

When the car stopped, Brittany woke up at the right time.

Rubbing her eyes, she looked outside and felt it to be slightly unfamiliar, but as if she had been here before. She couldn't help but ask, "Where...where is this?"

"Your home."

"My home? I don't live here..."

"This is the Everly’s residence," Joshua said, "Your parents live here."

Brittany finally realized, "This...this is the Everly’ family home. I haven't been here for several months..."

"You got drunk, it's better not to live alone," Joshua said, "Otherwise, I worry."

"Who told you to act on your own and bring me here..." Brittany's tone was filled with resentment, "My parents will definitely scold me when they find out I've been drinking."

"You're already this drunk, yet you're still worried about being criticized by your parents?"

"You're the drunk one! You're the one who's drunk, how could I possibly be drunk!"

As she spoke, Brittany, not knowing what got into her, climbed up from the seat and leaned towards Joshua, her beautiful eyes staring directly at him, "Look, look at me. Am I drunk?"

Her speech still had a hint of alcohol, faintly mixed with her fragrance.

And the suit jacket that was covering her had already slipped off.

Brittany leaned forward, her alluring front view exposed even more blatantly in front of Joshua...

"Don't keep challenging me time and time again," Joshua's tone was filled with helplessness, "Brie, I am no gentleman."

"Don't call me Brie, I'm asking you if I'm...hic...drunk."

Watching the enchanting figure in front of him, enduring all the way with her argument, relentless, simply not wanting to give up, admit she is drunk...

Joshua lifted his hand and caressed Brittany's face, "You...uh..."

Brittany's lips were sealed by him.

The familiar touch, the familiar taste, everything was as natural as if it was engraved deep in his bones.

Joshua’s hand trembled slightly, savoring it bit by bit, careful not to go too deep or exert too much force, fearing it might awaken the intoxicated Brittany from her dreamlike state.

Stopping at a mere taste, wanting more was highly unlikely.

For Joshua, this kiss was already an extra gain, one he didn't dare to expect.

After the kiss ended, he gently kissed her eyes and forehead, feeling somewhat unsatisfied. "Go home and get a good sleep... Tomorrow, tomorrow you won't remember anything."

Joshua got out of the car and as his feet touched the ground, he noticed the Everly family butler standing not far away.

His face changed slightly.

When did the butler arrive? What did he see? What would he say?

"Mr. Sinclair," the butler lowered his head, politely greeting, "You've arrived."

Joshua calmly asked, "Why are you here?"

"I just arrived."

These four words revealed the butler's attitude.

Just arrived, so he hadn't seen anything, didn't know anything, and wouldn't say anything.

Joshua nodded slightly, "I like talking to clever people."

"You flatter me, Mr. Sinclair. Is our Miss... alright?"

"Just a little drunk."

"Alright, I'll have the kitchen prepare a hangover remedy."

Joshua walked around the front of the car and carried Brittany out, but considering they were at the Everly family's place, he put her back down, only assisting her.

In addition, he took off his suit jacket and carefully draped it over Brittany, buttoning it up securely, not leaving a single gap.

When Brittany's parents saw him, they were startled.

And when they saw Brittany, they were even more shocked.

"Uncle, Aunt," Joshua spoke, "Brittany got drunk, so I brought her here. "

Mrs. Everly quickly took Brittany from his hands, saying, "This child... drinking out there so late, she really doesn't make us worry. Joshua, thank you, thank you."

"You're welcome, it's my pleasure."

"I'll take her to her room, come sit and have a cup of tea."

"No, Aunt," Joshua declined, "I have something to attend to, I'll have to leave now. I’m happy as long as Brittany has returned home safely."

He nodded slightly, his manners were very refined, appearing as a dashing nobleman.

As he left, Joshua glanced up at Brittany.

She had her eyes slightly lowered, looking as though she had fallen asleep, leaning against Mrs. Everly, docile and obedient.

Thinking of that kiss... a smile tugged at his lips.

Mrs. Everly settled Brittany into her room and called for a servant to watch over her before coming downstairs herself.

Mr. Everly sat on the sofa, silently smoking.

"Why is she getting involved with that member of the Sinclair family again?" Mrs. Everly said, "This matter will only complicate things further."

“The Sinclair family knows. I wonder what will happen now."

"You ask me, who can I ask? Didn't she break up with him? Didn't she say in front of us that they would never have any dealings with each other?"

“Are you blaming Brittany? In this matter, she is so pitiful, so innocent...”

Mr. Everly took a deep drag of his cigarette, "It's all my fault. I always had to accommodate the Garcia family, think about putting the Garcia family first in everything. Even when my own daughter was betrayed, I had to swallow my pride and advise her to be magnanimous!"

He sighed again, "Joshua is not a good person either. When he was with Brittany, he had a complicated relationship with Nicole. Now that he finally got what he wanted and is with Nicole, he's stirring up trouble with Brittany again!"

Mrs. Everly replied, "We can't afford to provoke the Garcia family, and the Sinclair family... sigh, I just feel sorry for my daughter."

Brittany lay in bed, peacefully asleep.

It was late at night, and Isabella sat by the window, holding a book and reading. She had already finished her work, yet she slumber eluded her.

The clock's hands pointed to twelve o'clock. Isabella looked up, staring at the clock, ticking away second by second. Sebastian hadn't come back yet.

She knew in the deepest darkest parts of her heart... he would be with Lynda tonight. It's just that she couldn't restrain herself from thinking... a man and a woman, deeply connected, spending the night together... what would they do?

What else could they do?

The mere thought made her heart twitch, causing pain so intense she could hardly breathe.
