Chapter 389 Who Do You Think the Murderer Is

"This is the good news, right?" In the sunlight, Amber's smile was pure and clean, her eyes brimming with excitement.

"Yes."

Amber stuck out her tongue playfully. "Isabella, you broke your promise. You said I would be the second to know the good news. But Grandpa found out first."

Isabella affectionately ruffled her hair. She had been busy teasing Amber all morning. Now that she thought about it, Brittany was the first to know she was having twins, and Sebastian was at most the second.

Just as Isabella was about to apologize, she saw Amber bend down and wave at her belly.

"Babies, I'm your aunt," Amber said with a gentle smile, her eyes curved, "Be good and listen to your mom while you're in her belly. Don't make her uncomfortable. When you come out, I'll give you lots of rewards, okay?"

Isabella was enveloped in a warm and gentle feeling of being moved.

It was wonderful!

Everything now was so perfect, so perfect that it felt unreal.

Isabella's gaze drifted off into the distance.

Suddenly, her eyes met Jarod's not far away.

He was sitting in a wheelchair, giving her a gentle smile.

Isabella nodded to him.

"Jarod actually cares about you, Isabella," Amber stood up straight, wrapped her arm around Isabella's, and whispered in her ear, "But Jarod and Sebastian don't get along. So, Jarod didn't go to the hospital.

"Jarod isn't a bad person. There must be some misunderstanding with Sebastian. Isabella, don't worry."

Isabella knew this. She nodded. "Actually, it was Jarod who reminded me to reconcile with Sebastian this time."

"Really?" Amber was a bit surprised. "I told you, Jarod is a good guy."

"Yes." Isabella confirmed, patting Amber's hand. "Amber, you go inside first. I'll thank Jarod."

"Actually, there's no need to be so formal." Amber paused slightly. "But."

She gave a bright smile. "Isabella, you could talk to Jarod more. Get to know him better, and praise Sebastian. Maybe Jarod and Sebastian can reconcile."

Amber thought this was a great idea and was delighted, immediately showcasing her acting skills from work.

She led Isabella to Jarod's side, looked at him, then at Isabella, and said, "Isabella, can you help me push Jarod inside? I need to go upstairs to handle something, okay?"

"I'll be off then." She ran off, turned her head, and smiled.

Both Isabella and Jarod had smiles on their faces.

Who could refuse Amber?

"It seems you has something to say to me." Once Amber's figure disappeared, Jarod's smile faded slightly, and he spoke calmly.

Isabella admitted. "Yes, thank you, Jarod."

Jarod understood why Isabella was thanking him.

He responded lightly, "Others can see things more clearly. Even if I didn't remind you, you two would have figured it out sooner or later."

Isabella noticed that Jarold seemed even more detached from the world this time, getting more like a walking corpse.

This was Jarod's choice, and no one had the right to question it.

But seeing such an excellent person immersed in his own world, drowning in sorrow and aging day by day, perhaps quietly leaving one day, made Isabella feel very sad.

"Jarod, can you do me a favor?" Isabella pondered for a moment and took the initiative to speak.

Jarod saw through her thoughts. "This favor, you're so conflicted about it. You probably prefer not to ask me for help."

Isabella was speechless.

The Lawrence brothers were very smart. It was impossible to hide anything from them.

She had previously thought about asking Jarod to help investigate the car accident, but later felt it was inappropriate and didn't think further.

The reason Isabella sought help was that she was worried Jarod, having no ties, might do something rash.

According to Sebastian, the car accident was difficult to investigate. Perhaps it could delay Jarod from doing something foolish.

"Isabella, you once said something that I remember very clearly." Jarod gazed into the distance and said softly, "You told me that if I died, it would be Joyce's true death."

"With those words in mind, no matter how much I suffer, I won't do anything foolish." Jarod's tone was flat, without any fluctuation.

Just like him, calm and unruffled.

Isabella, after putting herself in his shoes, knew that Jarod's words were true.

She wasn't one to meddle, so she nodded. "I understand."

"Your words reminded me. So, as a reward, go ahead and tell me," Jarod said seriously. "You want me to help investigate the car accident?"

Isabella wasn't indecisive. Since Jarod had said so, she spoke directly, "Yes."

"You don't trust Sebastian to investigate?"

"Of course not! On the one hand, he's been very busy lately. On the other hand, I also wanted you to..." Isabella felt she was overstepping and didn't continue.

Isabella hadn't considered that if Jarod investigated the car accident and later Sebastian found out, Sebastian would definitely think she didn't trust him.

"Let me just push you inside." Isabella decisively dismissed the idea.

But Jarod said, "Since that's the case, tell me. Maybe I can help you."

"Also, tell me who you've had conflicts with and give me a direction to investigate."

Isabella worried that Sebastian would misunderstand her. It was never too late to know the truth, but trust issues were a big deal.

"No need, Jarod, I..."

Jarod interrupted her, his tone calm. "Don't worry. I won't let Sebastian know. Just consider it me helping him. The company's matters have been very troublesome lately. As a member of the Lawrence family, leaving all the burdens to Sebastian is quite selfish."

Isabella thought it over and stopped hesitating. She thanked him first, then frowned and answered honestly, "The people who have deep conflicts with me, who wish I were dead, are Lynda, Grace, and my stepmother and stepsister."

"Who do you think the culprit is?"

"Lynda." Isabella clenched her hands, anger rising in her chest. She gritted her teeth and said, "It can't be anyone else. Unfortunately, there's no evidence. Sebastian is investigating, but Lynda is too cunning, and there's no evidence for now."

After hearing this, Jarod looked up at Isabella.

A brown look flashed in his eyes, but he didn't say much, responding lightly, "Okay, I understand."

At this moment, a horn sounded outside.

Jarod looked towards the door, and Peter's car was steadily parked at the entrance.

Then, Peter got out of the car and walked over.

"You have things to do, so I'll go inside first," Isabella said, "About that matter, thank you in advance, Jarod."
