Chapter 290 Happy Birthday

This was a scene that Sebastian had never imagined before.

Various colored fairy lights hung above, looking strange yet creating an unusually cozy atmosphere, warming the heart.

On the string of fairy lights were hung numerous photos of him from childhood to adulthood.

Sebastian walked over and looked up at each photo.

After circling the room, Sebastian noticed a birthday cake and a bowl of spaghetti on the coffee table.

The cake was terribly ugly, and he couldn't make out the design on top... the only thing he could understand was his age.

But Sebastian was moved. He felt as if he was walking on clouds, a sense of unreality.

He had forgotten how many years it had been since he last celebrated his birthday. Others didn't dare to mention it, nor did anyone dare to celebrate it for him.

But she did, always daring and presumptuous.

Sebastian had always assumed that if someone were to celebrate his birthday, he would be angry. However, today someone actually celebrated his birthday, and he didn't feel angry at all. Instead, he felt loved.

Perhaps, he wasn't angry simply because... It was Isabella?

Isabella sheepishly said, "Although it's a bit ugly, the taste should be all right, right?"

"Is that so?" Sebastian said, curiously, and turned his head slightly.

Isabella met Sebastian's gaze and guessed that he was not unhappy. Thus, she became less reserved than before.

"Try it and you'll know," Isabella walked over, sat on the soft wool carpet, lit a candle, and waved her hand at Sebastian, "Come here."

Sebastian sat next to Isabella, holding her hand to prevent her from reaching for the lighter. He lowered his voice, "Can I have a taste of it?"

Isabella's mind wandered for a moment, and she instantly understood that Sebastian was feeling guilty and sad on his birthday.

Just because he didn't get angry didn't mean he wasn't upset. It was indeed inappropriate to blow candles and make wishes.

Isabella helped him cut the cake and placed it on a small plate, pushing it towards him, "Here, give it a try."

Isabella had never tasted it before, so when Sebastian forked a bite of cake into his mouth, her heart started beating quickly, feeling nervous.

"Do you think... it's good?" Isabella rested her elbow on the coffee table, propping her head with her palm, pretending to be nonchalant.

But her heart was beating faster and was about to jump out of her throat.

Sebastian smiled mischievously, and suggested, "Why don't you try it?"

Isabella didn't answer the question. She sat up straight, took out a few tissues, and pointed at the corners of Sebastian's mouth, saying, "You have cream on your mouth."

"Okay," Sebastian responded and put down his fork, making a motion to reach for the tissue.

Isabella was deceived by this action and reached forward with her hand. Unexpectedly, Sebastian grabbed her wrist.

With a slight pull, Isabella leaned forward, and her lips met Sebastian's mouth, just where the cream was.

Isabella was stunned, feeling an incredible sweetness.

Sebastian moved away from her lips and lazily asked, "How was it?"

Isabella didn't know what had gotten into her head, she actually stuck out her tongue and licked her lips.

Sebastian muttered, "Damn it."

Isabella heard Sebastian mutter lowly and realized what she had done.

She looked at Sebastian in shock, only to find his eyes had become deep and profound, like the sea, as if they could engulf her.

"And there's spaghetti!" Isabella quickly turned around, trying to change the topic, holding a plate of spaghetti and placing it in front of Sebastian, "It's a bit cold, but still warm. Give it a try, I think it tastes okay."

Sebastian took it, but his gaze remained deep, like he wanted to devour her.

Isabella squinted her eyes, pretending not to notice.

She stood up, walked to the switch, turned off the lights in the room, and then lowered her head to take out her phone. With her fingers tapping the phone twice, she placed it down and sat back next to Sebastian.

Then, a white curtain slowly descended on the opposite wall, and a bright light shone from behind, projecting images onto the white cloth.

Sebastian put down his utensils and looked over.

First to appear was Elder, who played with birds while leaning on a cane, and smiled, saying, "You little rascal, happy birthday."

Next was Jarod Lawrence.

Then came Amber, who was acting and wearing a movie costume. She playfully smirked and said, "Brother, happy birthday."

After that was Joshua, standing by a window in a suit, basking in the sunlight. He smiled casually and said, "Bro, another year older."

Finally, Isabella was by Sebastian's side, whispering softly, "Happy birthday. You are not to blame, no one has ever blamed you, never."

The more Isabella spoke, the more deeply Sebastian looked into her eyes...making her heartbeat quicken.

She licked her dry lips and said, "I'll...I'll speak on behalf of the baby..."

Isabella's words were stuck in her throat as Sebastian sealed her lips.

His big hand protected the back of her head, pushing her down to the ground.

For quite some time, Isabella turned her head away, gasping for breath as if she were suffocating.

At the same time, Sebastian's fingers pressed against her chest, as if threatening her, "Isabella, if you dare to treat someone else so well, I will tear out your heart."

Then, he nudged her knee with his leg, and said, "If you dare to leave me, I will break your leg."

He added, "Isabella, if you dare not love me, I'll kill you."

His voice was soft, but each word spilled out like it was squeezed from between his teeth, firm and genuine.

Isabella couldn't bring herself to meet his gaze.

She was confused, once again disturbed by Sebastian's words, stirring up her thoughts.

"Why can't you look at me?" Sebastian asked as he squinted his eyes, staring at Isabella.

Isabella seemed to see clarity in his eyes, but taking another step forward, she couldn't go any further.

Everyone has a fear of cowardice, and Isabella is also afraid.

But the closeness was too much, their breaths intertwined, and the ambiguity in the air invaded their minds, manipulating their thoughts.

Suddenly, Isabella asked without warning, "What if you don't love me? Can I bully you then?"

Her voice trembled, unsure if it was a genuine question, even though she couldn't figure it out.

He chuckled, and said, "Why not?"

Isabella had imagined many possible answers from Sebastian, but she hadn't expected such a relaxed and rhetorical response.

It was as if...as if it should be this way.

It seemed that he was not afraid...

Between their words, there seemed to be an answer.

He hadn't lied to her.

Isabella dared not delve deeper into the thought. It was often said that a man's words in bed were not to be trusted. Hormones controlled their brains, making them say things they didn't mean.

In this ambiguous atmosphere, it was the same when saying things in bed.

"Lying like this can harm the baby," Isabella pushed Sebastian, "Get up quickly."

She didn't want to continue this topic, so she had to divert with something else. "I made spaghetti myself. If you don't eat it soon, it'll get cold."
