Chapter 455 Hurry up, I Don't Want to See Him

He was a bit thrown off and yelled, "Isabella!" in a raspy voice.

But just like that, the figure in the rearview mirror vanished. It was like a ghost, here one second, gone the next.

Still, Sebastian was sure it was Isabella in that car.

Sebastian's heart started racing, and he picked up his pace.

The hotel's entrance was a mess of people and cars, with police cars adding to the chaos. Samuel's car was barely moving.

He wasn't in a rush; the traffic had him pinned down.

Samuel leaned back in the driver's seat, tapping the steering wheel with one hand and rubbing his nose with the other.

His eyes were glued to the hotel's entrance.

Seeing Lynda get cuffed and taken to the police car gave Samuel a twisted sense of joy.

Out of nowhere, a pair of pale hands reached from behind and weakly tapped his shoulder.

The car was dead quiet, and the sudden touch made Samuel jump.

"Drive, go, quickly, please," Isabella's voice was low and rough, like she'd been screaming.

Samuel whipped his head around and saw Isabella curled up in the corner, looking like a scared bird. Her face was pale, eyes swollen and red.

"When did you wake up?" Samuel asked, his voice softer than he intended.

Isabella didn't catch the concern in his tone. She pulled her hand back, hugged herself, and tried to make herself smaller.

Samuel couldn't see her face, just heard her keep saying, "Drive, please, can you drive? Don't stop here."

As the police car drove off, the road started to clear. Once the light turned green, Samuel could finally move.

"Okay. But what's wrong? Did you see someone?" Samuel asked, his tone gentle but confused.

Isabella stayed quiet, like she didn't hear him. Her mind was a mess, drowning in pain.

She had no idea how she woke up.

After waking up, she didn't know why she was in Samuel's car or why Lynda was getting arrested.

Isabella just watched, thinking it was all a dream.

She thought, 'No way Lynda's getting arrested, right?'

She glanced away quickly. But as soon as she turned her head, she locked eyes with Sebastian in the rearview mirror. Even with the heavy rain outside, Isabella recognized Sebastian. She'd gotten lost in those eyes too many times.

Because the car was stuffy, Samuel had cracked all four windows a bit. The rear ones were barely open, but the front ones were almost halfway down.

This let people inside see out through the rearview mirror, and those outside see in.

That was how Sebastian and Isabella saw each other.

Isabella couldn't tell if she was dreaming or awake, but either way, she didn't want to face Sebastian.

"Doesn't matter. Samuel, please drive, close the windows, go fast. I don't want to see him, I can't."

Samuel was still puzzled.

'Who is "him"? Sebastian?' he wondered.

He knew he wouldn't get an answer, so he stopped asking, closed the windows, and nodded. "Alright, don't worry. We'll go as soon as the light changes."

"Thanks." With that, Isabella went quiet, curling up in the corner, looking all defensive.

Samuel turned back, not looking at her anymore. He focused on the red light ahead.

Finally, the light changed, and Samuel started the engine and drove off.

They hadn't gone far when Samuel saw the "him" Isabella mentioned in the rearview mirror.

It had to be Sebastian.

In the pouring rain, Sebastian was soaked, his hair plastered to his face. It was a mess Samuel had never seen him in before.

From a practical standpoint, Samuel knew he should stop the car and hand Isabella over to Sebastian, maybe even strike a good deal.

But ever since he used Ruth to get Lynda jailed, going against Sebastian's wishes, he had become Sebastian's enemy. Plus, he couldn't help but want to protect Isabella.

This time was no different.

Samuel drove off without a second thought. Sebastian ran as fast as he could, chasing the car with Isabella inside.

His shiny leather shoes splashed through puddles, dirtying his spotless shoes and clean trousers.

Sebastian didn't care; finding Isabella was all that mattered. But he couldn't keep up with the car. He had no chance; he could only watch as it got further away.

He almost had her, only to lose her again.

A fire burned in Sebastian's chest, fueled by anxiety and fear.

He kept calling Isabella's name in his heart, 'Isabella, Isabella. Wait for me, wait for me.'

Sebastian gritted his teeth, forcing himself to stay calm. He flagged down a taxi. When it stopped, Sebastian yanked open the driver's door, pulled the driver out, and jumped into the driver's seat. His 6-foot frame looked cramped in the small taxi, but he didn't care.

The driver was stunned. "What are you doing?"

Sebastian tossed a card into the driver's lap. "The password is one two three four."

Before the driver could react, the taxi sped off like a bullet.

Sebastian had raced cars with Joshua before, so even in a taxi, he didn't lose speed as he tailed Samuel's car.

The windshield wipers swung back and forth, clearing the rain. Sebastian squinted, locking onto the license plate ahead.

After a sharp turn, Sebastian freed his left hand and pulled out his phone.
