Chapter 323 Don't Lie to Me, I've Guessed It All
Perhaps she... didn't want to miss any opportunity. She didn't want to continue like this. She wanted to have a good talk with Sebastian and clear things up.
Isabella's face was full of exhaustion, her body tired, and her heart even more so. Sebastian was tormenting not only her body but also her spirit.
Throwing herself on the bed, Isabella stared blankly at the ceiling.
This day... had slipped away just like that, devoid of any accomplishments.
Isabella was unaware of when sleep had claimed her.The next morning, she was awakened by a commotion.
"Isabella! Isabella!"
Isabella abruptly woke up. Emily's voice? Was it a dream or a hallucination? Had she gone crazy from being locked up all day?
"Isabella, are you there? Say something to me!"
Why was Emily's voice so hoarse and urgent?
Isabella quickly changed into clothes, tied up her hair, and rushed out the door.
"Let go! Hey, don't you have any manners? I'm a girl! Let go, do you hear me!"
As Isabella descended the stairs, she saw Emily being pulled and tugged by the two guards at the entrance.
How could a young girl handle two burly men?
The two guards held onto Emily's arms from behind, each on one side, escorting her with the posture of a prisoner. Those guards didn't seem to have any regard for her well-being. Isabella could see the red marks on Emily's arms from being pulled.
"What are you doing!" Isabella's anger surged. She quickly approached.
Emily saw her and called out even louder, "Isabella! You finally came!"
"Let it go!" Isabella coldly stared at the two guards at the door.
The two guards glanced at each other and then released their grip. "Madam, it's Mr. Lawrence's orders. You are not allowed to go out, and no one else can come in. Please understand."
"I'm not trying to go out. I just... want you to let her go," Isabella said. "I'm still at Willowbrook Estate. My friend came to see me. How could I possibly escape?"
She really wanted to throw a tantrum, but what did it have to do with the guards?
They were just following orders. If she made it hard for them, then there would be no difference between her and Sebastian, who was authoritative and arrogant.
The two guards exchanged a look and then let go.
With pursed lips, Isabella took a step forward and gently held Emily's arm, looking at her. "Emily, are you okay?"
Feeling guilty, Isabella said, "I'm sorry. I made you suffer."
Emily didn't take it to heart and waved it off. "It's okay, Isabella. I'm fine."
Isabella felt even more ashamed. "Let's go inside and talk."
Emily didn't move. She held Isabella's arms with both hands, checking every inch, not missing anything.
After making sure Isabella wasn't hurt, she finally breathed a sigh of relief and looked up. "What's going on? I called you, and Brittany called you, too, but no one answered."
"Kaine told me not to worry about you, repeatedly assuring me that you were fine. Is this what 'fine' looks like?" Emily said, glaring at the two guards.
Isabella didn't want Emily to worry. She casually said, "I'm really fine, don't worry."
"How is it possible not to worry? I almost felt scared to death. And Grandma, she called you yesterday, you know? You didn't pick up, and she doesn't have Sebastian's number. When she called me this morning, she was about to cry. You really scared the old lady."
Emily used to be carefree, but as she mentioned Mrs. Wallace, her eyes turned red. "What does Sebastian want? He's keeping you locked up and not letting you answer the phone?"
Isabella's pupils instantly contracted, her face ashened. She tightly held Emily's hand and stared at her. "What happened to Grandma?"
It felt as if a pair of large hands were tightly wrapped around her neck, making it hard for Isabella to breathe. Her head was buzzing. Despite the summer sun shining brightly, she felt as if she had plunged into an icy cave, her whole body freezing.
Grandma was the person she cared about the most, her bottom line!
"She is fine," Emily knew she had frightened Isabella and quickly said, "I was just worried about you. I casually made up a reason and told Grandma that you went on a trip abroad and your phone was off on the plane. That calmed her down."
Emily gently patted Isabella's back to help her relax. "Later, you can call Grandma to reassure her. Don't worry, everything is fine."
Only then did Isabella somewhat regain her composure. She lowered her head and realized that she had broken out in a cold sweat just now. The sweat on her forehead dripped down sparsely, gathering at her chin and falling continuously as if water droplets.
She was truly afraid... that Mrs. Wallace would find out everything.
Isabella let go of Emily and checked her pants pocket, but it was empty. Her phone was still upstairs.
Isabella immediately wanted to go inside, but then she realized that even if she got her phone, the signal was blocked, and she still couldn't contact Mrs. Wallace.
"Let's go, Emily. We're going to the nursing home."
Isabella had to go now! If something happened to Mrs. Wallace, she would confront Sebastian with all her might!
Yes, perhaps she was in the wrong, but what did Mrs. Wallace do? What did her friends do? Should they all be punished along with her?
"Madam, please calm down. Without Mr. Lawrence's orders..."
Upon hearing the cold words of the guards again, Isabella couldn't suppress her anger.
Her face hardened, and she sternly reprimanded, "Shut up, can't you understand!"
Then, she turned and held Emily's wrist tightly. "Let's go."
Isabella never expected that after she turned around with Emily, a row of men in black suits would suddenly appear as if they had dropped from the sky. Isabella knew she couldn't escape.
Emily had never seen such a scene and was somewhat stunned. She turned her head to look at Isabella, thinking about everything that had happened in these days. Her eyes blinked lightly, and tears fell in an instant.
"Isabella, what kind of life have you been living? I really felt deceived. My job wasn't given to me by Sebastian at all; it was something you begged for, right?"
Isabella let go of Emily's hand and patted her head. "What nonsense are you talking about? It's a job opportunity you earned with your excellence. Don't underestimate yourself."
She used to mind Emily's admiration for Sebastian and wanted to expose his true face.
But now, at this moment, she hoped that Emily would always see Sebastian through rose-colored glasses.
After all... the truth was too harsh and cruel.
Emily shook her head. "Don't lie to me anymore, I've already figured it out. And I've been praising him in front of you all the time. If it weren't for the news that day, saying that he was having an affair with Lynda, I would still be in the dark."
"What? That's just gossip. How could you believe it?"
"I didn't believe it before, but now I do," Emily said, regretfully hitting her head. "How could I be so foolish?"
