Chapter 322 I Was Sick, and Couldn't Go Out Yet
Then, she jumped off the fence and returned to the main bedroom. This escape route was just... wasted.
Sebastian leisurely enjoyed the show, lazily playing with the cigarette between his fingers. After Isabella's figure disappeared from his sight, he calmly closed his eyes.
Not a long time, the butler hurried to the front of the car, bending down to hand a document to Sebastian. "Mr. Lawrence, the document you requested."
Sebastian took it and coldly said, "Without my orders, she is not allowed to go out."
"But, sir," the butler showed some sympathy for Isabella. "Madam might feel suffocated. It's not good for her health or the child."
Sebastian thought of Isabella happily chatting with Jarod face to face, his tone unkind. "This is her self-inflicted punishment."
"...Yes."
"Oh, by the way," Sebastian opened the file, glanced at it, and slowly said, "Summon the family doctor to Willowbrook Estate."
The butler had been by Sebastian's side for many years and was genuinely concerned for the couple. He couldn't help but speak up, "Mr. Lawrence, if you care about Madam, why punish her?"
Sebastian flipped through the documents, and upon hearing this, he paused, then immediately turned to Kaine and said, "Go back to the company."
"Alright." The butler stepped aside, and after Sebastian's car left, he heaved a long sigh.
Sebastian remained silent on the way back to the company. After the car stopped, Sebastian closed the file.
"Sebastian!"
As soon as Sebastian got out of the car, he heard a shout not far away. He paused for a moment and followed the voice.
Lynda didn't expect to run into Sebastian at the company just as she arrived. It was truly a stroke of luck. She hastened her steps, holding up her skirt.
Standing in front of Sebastian, Lynda grabbed his large hand and spoke in a hurry. "Sebastian, what a coincidence! I was just thinking about you. About the other night, I..."
"Lynda, I have a project to discuss. I don't have time today. Please go back." Without waiting for her to finish, Sebastian withdrew his hand and looked at Kaine. "Take Lynda back."
He didn't say anything more, didn't even look back, and walked away briskly. He showed no emotion for her, let alone care or pity.
Lynda bit her lip, gazing intensely at Sebastian's retreating figure.
Indeed... as she expected, he was angry after finding out that she had taken advantage of him and pretended she had slept with him while he was drunk.
But it didn't matter; she would soothe him.
This morning, she secretly arranged for the servants at Willowbrook Estate to report. Sebastian and that wretched woman, Isabella, had a big fight yesterday.
Her plan successfully stirred up trouble between the two.
So, this was the perfect opportunity for Lynda to win back Sebastian's heart and take Mrs. Lawrence's position.
Sebastian's figure had long disappeared, but Lynda still couldn't take her greedy eyes off him.
"Lynda, Mr. Lawrence really has a project to discuss today." Kaine leaned out, "Please get in the car. I'll take you back."
"Alright," Lynda regained her obedient and gentle demeanor as she got into the car. "Thank you, Kaine."
Lynda understood what kind of woman men liked, and she wouldn't cause trouble while Sebastian was working. If it didn't work out today, she would come back tomorrow, and if not tomorrow, then the day after. Eventually, he would agree to talk to her.
By then, with a little tenderness and care, she would surely make Sebastian come back to her. Lynda confidently smiled.
"Kaine, has Sebastian been busy lately?" A hint of worry appeared in Lynda's eyes. "He's just a workaholic. Please take good care of him. Make him drink less and smoke less," she said. "After all, working is not worth sacrificing his health. If anything happened to him, it would surely shatter me."
Lynda's words clearly positioned her as Mrs. Lawrence.
Who gave her the right to say such things?
Kaine could only awkwardly smile and say, "Yes, I will."
Willowbrook Estate.
Isabella was so occupied, constantly pondering how to escape from this mansion. She spent the whole afternoon thinking, her mind not stopping for a moment. Instead of finding a solution, her headache only grew worse. Isabella rubbed her temples, furrowing her brows, lost in thought.
After less than two minutes of rubbing, Isabella suddenly stopped, and... another idea came to her.
Where there was a will, there was a way.
"Madam," a servant came to the door from outside. "Dinner is ready. It's time for you to eat."
Isabella's lips curled up as she walked over in her slippers. "Alright, I'm coming."
But as she opened the door, she held her head, a hint of vulnerability appearing on her face.
"Madam, what's wrong?" The servant hurriedly supported her arm. "Are you feeling unwell?"
Isabella was led forward by the servant, her voice weak as she replied, "I have a slight headache. Maybe I caught a cold from the wind today. Please hold the dinner. I'll go to the hospital first."
The butler's voice sounded, "What? Madam, are you sick?"
Isabella had just come downstairs when she ran into the butler. Hearing the butler's anxious voice, Isabella felt a bit embarrassed.
But there was no other way. She didn't intend to fake being sick, but she couldn't come up with another idea.
"Yes," Isabella nodded. "Arrange a car to take me to the hospital."
"Madam, there's no need."
Isabella raised her eyes and looked at him in surprise. "I'm sick, and I can't even go out? I am carrying the flesh and blood of the Lawrence family in my belly."
If she couldn't go out even if she pretended to be sick, then Isabella was truly at her wits' end.
"No, no, no," the butler waved his hand. "You misunderstood. Mr. Lawrence is worried that you caught a chill, so he has already summoned the family doctor. Please go upstairs, and I will have the family doctor come over immediately."
After hearing this, Isabella straightened up, and there was no sign of illness on her face.
She couldn't believe it and asked, "The family doctor? Sebastian arranged for him to come?"
The butler nodded and reassured her, "Madam, please rest assured at home. Mr. Lawrence does care about you and has thought of everything for your well-being."
Isabella didn't know what to say. Sebastian's actions not only showed his concern, but he also seemed to see through her intentions.
He anticipated every step of her plan before she even implemented it. He understood her better than she understood herself!
What was going on?
"Madam? Madam?"
"I'm fine. There's no need to bother the doctor," she said. "I just need to rest for a while. I'll go have dinner."
Isabella had completely lost her appetite, but being pregnant, she couldn't afford to skip meals.
After forcing down a few bites of rice, she put down her chopsticks and headed upstairs.
Halfway there, she turned to the butler and said, "If you can reach Sebastian, can you ask him to come back? I have something to discuss with him."
The butler quickly responded, "Of course, Madam. I will try my best. Please rest early."
In fact, Isabella knew that her words had no real meaning. Sebastian wouldn't come back.
Despite knowing the outcome, she couldn't help but ask.
