Chapter 287 Trying It Out

Isabella considered it carefully but couldn't figure out what Sebastian needed.

Suddenly, she looked up and saw a huge billboard displaying an ad for lighters.

Isabella quietly watched the entire ad, which mentioned that giving a man a lighter had a hidden meaning. It meant, "You are my first love."

That's when Isabella's heart skipped a beat. In a way, Sebastian was her first love.

This subtle and hidden expression of affection was something that even if she gave it to Sebastian, he wouldn't know.

At the same time, it could also be seen as her way of expressing her feelings for this relationship.

Isabella didn't want to let any of her emotions go to waste, whether it was a secret admiration or an open relationship. Even if they were filled with obstacles, they were still her experiences of love.

With this thought, the gift seemed just right.

After understanding this, Isabella entered the lighter shop.

The gift for Sebastian had to be impressive, and it practically cost Isabella three-quarters of her personal savings.

As she signed the receipt, Isabella felt a pang in her heart. It was too expensive.

But for Sebastian, these were just everyday items, not worth mentioning.

However, while Isabella felt the pain, she was also happy. She tightly held onto the bag containing the gift and walked out of the store.

But as soon as she stepped out, she ran into Lynda, who happened to be walking towards her.

Isabella's expression immediately turned cold, and all the cells in her body became active, urging her to slap this woman.

Lynda was also surprised to see Isabella.

Now that she had obtained the voice recorder, it was the most powerful leverage she had, and she didn't even consider Isabella a threat.

In Lynda's eyes, Isabella was just a fool.

She sneered, lifted her head slightly, and walked past Isabella with a contemptuous look in her eyes as if she was telling Isabella that she was the legal wife.

Although Isabella hated Lynda, she had learned her lesson. During her pregnancy, she steadfastly avoided confronting the green tea mistress head-on.

Isabella rolled her eyes and turned around to leave.

She couldn't be bothered to argue with Lynda. If she provoked her, who knew if Lynda would immediately feign illness and lie on the ground to seek sympathy?

She had suffered once, and she wasn't going to be a fool and suffer again.

Conveniently, the mall exit was right next to her. Isabella immediately walked out.

Lynda could only see Isabella's back, and she couldn't even say a harsh word before Isabella got into the car and left.

It felt like having a fist full of strength but punching into thin air.

Lynda was irritated. "Buzz," her phone rang, but she didn't even glance at the caller ID before answering it. "Hello," she said in a gentle voice.

"Lynda," a woman's voice, full of resentment, came through the receiver. "You didn't forget about me, did you?"

Lynda paused, taking her phone away from her ear. Biting her lower lip, she noticed that it was an unfamiliar number with no name attached to it. She looked around, lowering her head and finding a discreet spot. "Grace?"

"Good, so you haven't forgotten about me!" Grace's tone remained haughty and domineering. "Come to the police station to visit me and do it quickly. I've been in a bad mood lately, and I'm running out of patience!"

"Beep beep..." Without giving Lynda a chance to retort, Grace hung up.

Lynda furrowed her eyebrows, calculating with shrewdness in her eyes. In fact, she had already decided not to save Grace, but she hadn't expected that Grace would find her again.

To avoid unnecessary trouble, Lynda decided to visit the police station and temporarily appease Grace. After all, she had important things to do in the following days and couldn't let Grace ruin them.

Worried that Sebastian would find out about her visit to Grace, Lynda specifically asked Samuel for help. Although Samuel wasn't a local, it was still an easy task for him to help her quietly visit the detention center.

Fortunately, Samuel was busy with official duties and didn't inquire too much about Lynda's specific situation. This satisfied Lynda greatly.

At the transparent glass window of the police station's visiting area, Lynda waited for a few minutes before Grace was brought in by a staff member.

In just a few weeks, Grace had lost a lot of weight. Her cheeks were sunken, and her cheekbones protruded. Her once meticulously cared-for hair now looked like dry grass.

One couldn't even recognize her as the mayor's daughter, who used to be wild and reckless.

Only her eyes carried a hint of shrewdness compared to before, hinting at the cunning thoughts hiding within.

Lynda felt anxious and had a severe headache. Thankfully, she had come today, because who knows what strange things Grace would have done otherwise.

Both of them picked up the phone, but neither spoke, as the crackling sound of electricity made Lynda's scalp tingle.

"I promise I'll take care of what you asked for," Lynda spoke first, "but you have to give me some time."

Grace glared at Lynda viciously, as if she wanted to tear her apart and eat her. "Time? How much time have I given you!"

Grace's voice was now low and her words were sharp. Lynda felt unhappy.

Having evidence is better than having none, and Lynda started to take this matter seriously.

Grace had her vulnerable point.

"Quickly, calm down," Lynda's voice was as soft as ever, she looked into Grace's eyes and raised her eyebrows, gesturing for Grace to calm down first.

"How can I calm down!" Grace's emotions instantly collapsed, her voice sharp, shouting, "You bitch, how can I calm down! Come and stay here for a few days!"

Lynda was startled by Grace's reaction, furrowing her brow and putting her phone away.

The police guarding Grace quickly restrained her, pressed her onto the chair, and ordered, "Stay put!"

"Don't touch me!" Grace yelled as she struggled repeatedly, the handcuffs clanging against the table.

Unfortunately, it was futile, as no one would pity her.

Grace seethed with hatred, holding the receiver in her hands, she leaned against the glass, pressing her entire face against it, "One week, I'll give you only one week! Otherwise, you just wait, I will make you regret it! I promise!"

Lynda looked at her, feeling that she was extremely terrifying.

She bit her lip lightly, suppressing the panic in her heart and maintaining her composure, "I will, just be good for once, don't cause any trouble for me recently. As long as Isabella abdicates, everything can be negotiated."

"Click." After finishing speaking, Lynda hung up the phone, not daring to look at Grace again.

Then, Lynda quickly took two steps and left this oppressive room.

Under the sunlight, she covered her chest, taking deep breaths.

Just now, she was indeed scared by Grace.

Lynda took a deep breath.

Grace, she must find a way to bring her out, but how?

Lynda silently came up with a plan, but for now, she couldn't let Grace's situation distract her.

She needed to focus wholeheartedly on arranging every step ahead.

Lynda opened her umbrella, a faint smile of satisfaction appearing at the corner of her mouth as she lowered her head and left the police station.
