Chapter 291 The Meaning Behind The Gift

The room was not lit, with the carpet between the sofa and coffee table in darkness. They could barely see each other's faces, relying on the light from the projector.

However, Sebastian keenly sensed that something was wrong with Isabella, the same uncomfortable feeling he had before... It was back.

"Let's eat," Isabella's stomach suddenly growled.

Since they were both hungry, naturally, Sebastian wouldn't continue the previous topic.

He stood up, supporting Isabella's waist and helping her up.

Isabella caressed her stomach, suddenly remembering something. She turned around and picked up the gift box from the sofa, stuffing it into Sebastian's arms.

She announced, "Here's your birthday gift."

Sebastian lazily leaned against the sofa and happened to see Isabella's ears turning red. The discomfort that had just risen dissipated instantly.

Isabella coughed a few times, looked away, and said, "I'll go to the kitchen. The housekeeper should have prepared other dishes for dinner."

She didn't know where to look.

It was the first time she had bought a birthday gift for a man, and it was a meaningful one...

The more she thought about it, the more Isabella regretted giving Sebastian this gift.

"Take your time," Sebastian raised an eyebrow, playfully glancing at her. "Don't trip."

Isabella made a sound of acknowledgement and stood up to leave, but her wrist was caught.

"What's wrong?" Isabella tilted her head, looking at Sebastian who was still sitting on the carpet. "Do you...have something else?"

He didn't say anything.

But with a click, a flame shot out from the lighter, and the red light illuminated Sebastian's face.

Isabella could clearly see his face.

It was strange, she had seen this face countless times, yet there was always a new experience with each encounter.

More handsome, more profound, and with more perfect lines.

Then, with such a handsome face, Sebastian seemed to slightly smile and said, "I understand, I've received your confession."

He extinguished the lighter, and a few seconds later, he lit it again.

Isabella's pupils contracted, wha... what? Does he know something? Did he receive... a confession?

Could it be that he understands the meaning behind a woman giving a man a lighter?

Sebastian is a straightforward and tactless man. Isabella doesn't believe he can understand the underlying meaning.

"Your good sister never told you that the advertisement for this lighter was... created by the Lwarence Group design department, checked by me?" Sebastian deliberately elongated his tone.

Boom.

Oh my god!

Isabella was dumbfounded.

Isabella instantly averted her eyes and dared not look at Sebastian, so her gaze fell on Sebastian's neck.

Under the light of the fire, his Adam's apple kept moving, so sexy that one would want to take a bite.

Sebastian's tie had already been loosened, and two buttons of his shirt collar were unbuttoned.

He leaned so leisurely against the sofa as if hoping to be bitten!

She would rather look into his eyes!

"I'm going to the kitchen!" Isabella insisted and abruptly pulled her hand back and hurried away.

From behind, came a hoarse chuckle of a man.

What's so funny?

Isabella's face blushed like fire, very red.

Finally, in the kitchen, she closed the door behind her and leaned against it, breathing heavily.

It took a long time for Isabella to calm down.

How could such a coincidental thing happen in the world? It's unbelievable.

Oh my god.

Isabella really wanted to find a place and shout a few times.

She really didn't intend to confess her feelings to Sebastian. The current situation between them is not appropriate.

She just wanted to give this relationship closure. And also wanted to discreetly indicate something,

"Madam?" The kitchen aunt looked at Isabella strangely, "Is something wrong?"

Isabella rubbed her temples, raised her hand to cover her unnatural expression, and said, "It's nothing."

She coughed and continued, "Keep busy, don't mind me."

Isabella took a deep breath and prepared to bring back a few plates of light dishes to the side room.

As soon as she stepped out of the kitchen door, Isabella froze. It felt as if her legs were tied to a heavy rock, and she couldn't continue moving forward.

Isabella's gaze stared at the familiar small square box on the coffee table in front, unmoving.

This small box was no stranger to Isabella. It's the packaging box for the lighter she bought.

But the one she bought is currently in Sebastian's hands in the side room.

Then... what about this one? Who gave it?

The answer was too obvious; there was no need for speculation.

Isabella laughed, a laugh filled with irony.

The meaning of a woman giving a man a lighter was what Lynda had told Sebastian, right?

The creative department of some company was all a lie, and he lied again.

But, after laughing twice, Isabella returned to calmness.

Having been deceived by Sebastian too many times, she had long become accustomed to it. Every time she exposed his lies, she felt herself becoming more and more numb.

She believed that one day, she would completely lose trust in Sebastian.

Unfortunately, the lighter she bought was too expensive, it was simply humiliating!

Isabella really wanted to scold herself and snap out of it!

Walking towards the side door, Isabella took a deep breath, pursed her lips, and forced a smile.

After entering the room, the small colorful lights inside emitted a soft glow. Sebastian remained in his original posture, holding his phone and messaging someone.

The bowl in front of him was already empty, and when he heard the sound of the door opening, he raised an eyebrow at her.

Isabella also raised the same smile.

Stepping into the small house that she carefully designed and decorated, Isabella's heart didn't feel as warm as before.

She understood that Sebastian actually didn't need her.

All of this was just her own self-importance. Lynda could also create surprises and romance for Sebastian.

Isabella disliked this side of herself. She shouldn't have expected to leave behind a beautiful memory that didn't belong to her.

The pain she felt today couldn't be blamed on Sebastian, she could only blame herself.

Isabella suffered especially during Sebastian's birthday, but she finally made it through dinner.

Isabella originally wanted to find an excuse to go upstairs first. Luckily, Sebastian needed to have a video conference, so they both left through the side door together.

At the entrance of the master bedroom, Sebastian rubbed Isabella's head. "Go to sleep early, you don't need to wait for me," he said,

He was in a good mood, with a hint of a smile at the corners of his mouth. Rubbing her head wasn't enough, he even bent down and held Isabella's face.

Isabella was slightly startled, and asked, "What's wrong?"

Sebastian held Isabella's face, tracing her contours and smooth lines. "Goodnight," he greeted.

Their gaze met, and Isabella always felt like Sebastian was trying to see through her heart through her eyes.

"G-Goodnight," Isabella said.

Sebastian nodded, let go of her, put his hand in his pocket, and raised his chin, replying, "Go to sleep."

Isabella entered the bedroom, closed the door, and then heard Sebastian commanding the housekeeper in a low voice outside

"Clean up the guest bedroom without damaging any decorations or designs," Sebastian instructed.
