Chapter 346 I am the Predator and You are the Pray

Tasting the metallic tang of blood, Brittany calmed down once more, like a tranquil lake without ripples. The faint flush on her face disappeared as well.

She gazed ahead, unmoving.

Joshua caught sight of that hint of red. Lowering his head, a smile twitching at the corner of his lips., resembling a lovestruck teenager.

Even the painkillers couldn't stop the remnants of pain in his body, but now, it dissipated instantly.

Joshua's words were sweet, devoid of any bitterness from the medicine.

His Brittany was indeed a sweetheart.

From a shoebox, Joshua took out a pair of small white shoes, carefully put socks on Brittany, then slowly slid the shoes on and tied the laces.

Brittany continued to look straight ahead instead of glancing at Joshua. Yet, her eyes seemed slightly moist.

She had already firmly remembered how Joshua would help her put on shoes, undoubtedly with seriousness, helplessness, and yet willingness.

He had performed such actions too many times during their university days, leaving an indelible mark in her mind.

Now, what was he like?

Brittany lacked the courage or the interest to look.

After both shoes were changed, Joshua straightened up, wiped his hands with a disinfectant wipe, dried them, and then pulled out a hair tie from his wrist.

Brittany accidentally glanced, feeling her throat tighten as tears threatened to well up, and quickly turned her head away.

As she turned her head, Joshua's long arm reached out, his slender fingers gathering Brittany's hair draped over her shoulder. He meticulously tied it into a ponytail, revealing her slender and attractive fair neck.

There was a hint of moisture in the corner of Brittany's eyes.

Every time Joshua's handbones touched her scalp, memories long buried in her mind surged forth uncontrollably.

No man was born knowing how to braid a woman's hair; it cost a lot of practice.

Brittany didn't know if Joshua was practicing with Nicole now, but his familiar actions were all learned for her.

Taking a deep breath, Brittany eased the tightness in her chest. Under the sunlight, she blinked repeatedly, allowing the moistness at the corners of her eyes to evaporate.

"Let me see." Suddenly, Joshua grabbed Brittany's chin, catching her off guard as their eyes met.

A flash of admiration passed through his eyes.

"My Brittany is still as beautiful as ever. Back in college, the first time we met, you looked exactly like this."

Clean-faced, with arched brows and cool, red-lipped defiance, she held his gaze, and he was lost.

Brittany paused for a moment, trying to maintain a composed smile. "Mr. Sinclair, you have a good memory."

Joshua smiled proudly. "I remember everything."

His charming eyes sparkled, exuding a handsome aura.

Brittany almost teared up, smiling as she said, "Speaking of which. Why would you remember all this since you're getting engaged tomorrow?"

'You should forget them!' Brittany suppressed her true thoughts.

Joshua looked at her with affection, not saying anything.

Starting the car, he instructed, "Buckle up, we're off."

Brittany nodded. "Okay."

"Let's go." Joshua accelerated, and the car drove off.

Once the car started moving, the top was open.

As the car accelerated, The wind rushed by swiftly. Brittany closed her eyes, hoping the wind would blow away her restlessness and pain, but it didn't work.

Forty minutes later, the car came to a stop, and Brittany slowly opened her eyes.

In front of her was Maple Valley University.

How dare Joshua come here?

Brittany's face darkened, her eyes widening in disbelief as she looked at Joshua in shock.

"Get off." Joshua ruffled Brittany's hair, seemingly unable to understand why she was so surprised. He asked, "What's wrong? Don't you recognize your alma mater?"

Brittany clenched her fist, gritting her teeth. "Joshua, you've ruined my love. Are you going to destroy my memories and my college days, too?"

Although their relationship had turned into a mess, Brittany cherished the memories of their past.

She dared not recall the memories, but in her heart, she did cherish them.

"Joshua, stop it." Brittany's eyes showed a hint of bloodshot. "Let's go somewhere else, I beg you."

Joshua gazed at the luxurious gates of Maple Valley University, speaking softly, "Brittany, you don't have the right to argue with me. Mark my words. Spend this day with me."

There was an unresolved pain in his eyes, but he hid it so well, unknown to others.

Brittany grabbed Joshua's arm. "Joshua, with what mindset are you revisiting this campus with me? Tomorrow, you're getting engaged to Nicole. Have you forgotten?"

Only then did Joshua turn to her. Pinching her chin, he smiled gently. "But I loved you. I loved you from our college days."

I loved all of you, from university to work, now and in the future. But Joshua couldn't say it.

"Soon to be married, I need to reminisce about my college days before I can commit to my wife wholeheartedly," Joshua cruelly retorted. "Right?"

Brittany clenched her teeth, hatred surging. "You're ruthless."

"I am the predator, and you are the prey." Joshua let go of her, turned, and opened the door, stepping out of the car.

Pausing briefly, he suddenly turned back. "Brittany, be good. Come with me."

Brittany chuckled, tilting her head casually, discarding all bitterness. Now was the time to end everything; today, she would destroy all memories.

Brittany got out of the car.

Separated by the car, Brittany and Joshua locked eyes.

Brittany smiled cleanly, with a hint of charm. "Mr. Sinclair, don't forget our agreement. Today is the last day."

The last day.

Joshua said in a hoarse voice, "I won't forget, Brittany. And you, don't forget my request. Stay with me as you did in the university, or else..."

Disgust and irony filled Brittany's eyes as she cut off Joshua. "Will do."

The school had just started, and students had classes in the morning, so few students were coming and going near the school gate.

With Joshua holding her hand, Brittany entered the campus.

After so many years, a familiar scent enveloped her.

Maple Valley University had a strong historical atmosphere, brimming with academic vibes. In this environment, Brittany felt calm and at ease.

"Look, he's so cute." After walking a few steps, Brittany heard some girls whispering. Their gazes surreptitiously landed on Joshua.

Brittany had grown accustomed to it during her college days. Joshua was indeed quite handsome, and many girls liked him.

"Jealous?" Joshua held Brittany's hand tightly.

Brittany's palm felt hot, almost wanting to pull it away immediately.

Thinking of her parents and the innocent Larry, she held onto Joshua's hand in return, tilting her head to talk to him, "Yes."

"What are you going to do about it?" Joshua held her hand like a child caught sneaking candies. "There will be more girls later on."
