Chapter 201 I Was Wrong, Hit Me Back

Sebastian looked at the person on the ground, paused, then slowly looked at his own palm.
He... hit her?
And it was so hard!
His palm even felt a bit numb, a sign of excessive force.
So... it must have really hurt her face.
Isabella was completely stunned by the slap. Her ears were buzzing, and her cheek was burning with pain. It was so painful that she couldn't recover for a long time.
She didn't even know to lift her hand to touch her face.
Isabella slowly brushed the hair out of her eyes, propped herself up from the ground, and sat up.
She looked up at Sebastian.
She was very calm, with a kind of self-possession that she didn't know where it came from.
She just looked at Sebastian like that.
Isabella couldn't see the clear handprint on her cheek, indicating what had just happened.
"You hit me?" She asked. When she spoke, the muscles around her mouth hurt, "Sebastian, you... you hit me."
The first sentence was a question, and the second, a confirmation.
She had come to her senses.
Sebastian had hit her, with such a heavy and thunderous slap, straight to her face.
Sebastian's hand was frozen in mid-air, palm up, not moving.
He looked at her as his lips slightly parted, but he couldn't utter a sound.
"Why?" Isabella asked, her voice very soft, as if all her strength had been drained, "Is it because I met Marcus, or because I said I love you? Or is it because I mentioned Lynda?"
He didn't answer.
She pulled a smile, then because of the pain in her cheek, she stopped smiling. "What angered you must be Lynda. You said she is your bottom line, and I violated your bottom line, so I deserve to be slapped."
Sebastian trembled slightly, paused for two seconds, then suddenly reacted.
He quickly stepped forward, knelt down on one knee, and bent over in front of Isabella, reaching out to hug her. "I... I... Isabella, are... are you okay?"
His hand hadn't touched her yet when Isabella quickly brushed it away.
She said, "I can get up by myself."
Isabella's calm completely panicked Sebastian.
What was he doing just now... he actually hit her?!
What was he thinking?!
"I... I didn't mean to hit you..." Sebastian forcefully hugged her. He held her tightly in his arms, his hands like a fortress. "I'm sorry, Isabella, I'm sorry..."
Isabella, like a puppet, let him hold her.
But her heart ached so much.
Sebastian was apologizing to her...
"It's okay." Isabella looked up at his firm jawline, "It's just a slap; what can I do? At most... you give me some more money as compensation."
"No, I... I, Isabella, I..."
Sebastian was really panicked. Isabella had never seen him so flustered.
"I said it's okay, it's just a slap." she said, "You don't have to feel so guilty."
It seemed... like she was the one who did something wrong.
Sebastian's arms were trembling slightly, at this moment, he didn't dare to look into her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Isabella, I..." he paused for a long time, then still said, "I'm sorry."
"You don't have to apologize to me. It's my own fault, I didn't put myself in the right position."
After hearing her sensible words, Sebastian's whole heart clenched.
He could only hold her tightly, not willing to let go even a bit, using this way to tell himself that she was still in his arms, and she couldn't leave.
No amount of explanation and apology would be useful.
Sebastian didn't know what was wrong with him just now or what kind of madness overtook him. Every word she said in her rant was stabbing his heart.
And it stirred up the bottom of his heart... the thing he least wanted to face.
What did Isabella mean to him?
If she was important, then what was Lynda?
Sebastian was almost driven mad.
"You can hit me, however you want, hit me back, Isabella, hit me back." Sebastian leaned his head, causing his thin lips to touch her earlobe, "Two slaps, ten slaps, as long as you can feel better."
Isabella didn't say a word.
His voice got lower and lower. "Hit me, okay? Don't be like this... don't ignore me. Isabella, I messed up."
But no matter what Sebastian said, Isabella was silent.
Her eyes stung. They were red and swollen, but she no longer shed tears.
Perhaps there was no greater sorrow than a dead heart.
When a person reached a certain level of sadness, they couldn't even cry.
"Isabella..."
"Don't call me like that anymore." Isabella finally spoke, "Sebastian, your slap... actually... it was really good, very good."
"No..."
"It woke me up." she said, "Completely woke me up and shattered the remaining expectations I had for you."
Sebastian's large hand held the back of her head, always holding her tightly in his arms. "I was wrong; you can hit me back, or, whatever you want... I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
He controlled the entire Lawrence Group, many people had to live at his mercy.
He had never apologized like this in his entire life.
And this apology, no matter how much more it was expressed, was useless.
Isabella wouldn't accept it, and she couldn't.
Sebastian's arms were wrapped too tightly; she was a bit out of breath, so she struggled a bit.
But Isabella's struggle resulted in Sebastian's tighter hug.
"You're hurting me." She said softly, her chin resting on his shoulder, "Are you going to strangle me to death?"
Sebastian immediately relaxed his grip, his arms slightly opened.
But when he heard the word "death," he became even more panicked. "I'll loosen up a bit. Isabella, don't say that word..."
"Which one?" Isabella asked, "Death?"
"Don't say it!"
"Okay." She was very cooperative, nodded, lifted her hand from his shoulder, and looked at him, "Then, I'll say something else, will you listen?"
Sebastian met her gaze, his heart feeling a sharp tug.
"Okay." He replied, "Whatever you want to say, I'll listen... I'll listen to everything."
Seeing him like this, she smiled, "You slapped me, but in exchange, you care a great deal about me. This deal... I think it's quite worthwhile."
Sebastian's throat bobbed, not knowing how to respond.
However, Isabella no longer dwelled on this.
She lowered her head slightly and said softly, "The words I'm going to say to you next are all true, without any falsehood."
"You speak, I listen."
"Do you believe me?"
Sebastian nodded repeatedly. "I believe."
