Chapter 282 The Confrontation

As a result, his movement was slightly too large when he stood up, causing him to bump into a waiter passing by. The waiter spilled the scorching hot coffee from his tray onto the back of the man's hand wearing the cap.

The man wearing the cap cried out in pain, and his phone and a recording pen fell with a "clap" to the ground.

"Sir, I'm sorry!" The waiter's face turned pale as he repeatedly apologized, "Are you okay? Let me take care of it for you. I'll go get some medicine!"

Isabella glanced to the side and unintentionally noticed the blister on the back of the man's hand that had turned red from the burn.

"Brittany, wait for me a moment," Isabella called out to the front where Brittany was, and reached down to take out a tube of burn ointment from her bag.

Then, she walked over and placed the burn ointment on the table, and said, "Give it a wipe, it's quite effective."

The man wearing the cap picked up his phone and recording pen, clenched them tightly in his hand, and stiffly raised his head upon hearing Isabella's voice.

He looked like a handsome young man. Isabella raised her chin and gestured towards the ointment before leaving.

The guy wearing the duckbill cap watched as Isabella left, then lowered his head, his gaze shifting between the ointment and the voice recorder in his hand.

A hint of dilemma flickered in his eyes. In the end, he glanced at the ointment and gritted his teeth before walking away.

The waiter behind him held the ointment and hurriedly chased after him.

Unfortunately, the person was already gone.

Isabella accompanied Brittany inside the airport, waiting at the arrival gate. When half of the crowd had dispersed, Isabella heard Brittany say, "They're here."

"Then you go greet them first, I'll wait for you," she said. Isabella came today simply to be a human shield.

She didn't need to approach old classmates when they met.

Brittany thanked her, "Thank you, Isabella."

Isabella glared at her, "Don't be so polite, we're friends."

Brittany nodded gratefully, then turned around.

"Larry," Brittany called out. She approached the man walking towards her and took his suitcase, "Let me take it."

Larry Hall fondly ruffled Brittany's hair, and said, "Junior sister, I can handle it."

Even after many years of friendship, Brittany still wasn't used to this intimacy. She took a step back, and said, "Larry, are you planning to settle in New York?"

Larry Hall seemed oblivious to Brittany's avoidance, his face gentle as he nodded slightly, saying, "Yes, I won't leave in the future."

Brittany replied, "Then we can see each other often."

"Yes." He kept his eyes fixed on Brittany with a smile, and mentioned, "And, New York is very important to me."

Brittany smiled lightly, and replied, "I wish you the best, Senior Brother."

"Mhm." Larry Hall's eyes gleamed with stars when he smiled, saying, "If Junior Sister says so, it will come true."

Not adept at socializing, Brittany quickly changed the topic, and said, "Let me take Senior Brother to the community first. You came back so suddenly, without the chance to pick it out in detail."

"It's okay," Larry Hall said, "Your taste is definitely great."

Isabella looked toward Brittany and Larry. Perhaps due to her profession as a doctor, she noticed that he wore a clean shirt and simple yet elegant attire, exuding a gentle and soothing vibe.

She never encountered this type of man in her circle.

From afar, she could see that Brittany and the man standing together were surprisingly well-matched.

One seemed refined, while the other appeared gentle. It seemed like a perfect fit.

After a while, two people walked towards Isabella side by side.

"Isabella, this is my senior brother, Larry Hall," Brittany said to Isabella before introducing Larry Hall. "Senior brother, this is my best friend, Isabella."

Isabella smiled faintly, "Mr. Hall, nice to meet you for the first time."

Larry Hall had a gentle personality and didn't feel distant at all.

He smiled, and greeted, "Miss Wallace, hello. Since you have a good relationship with my junior sister, there's no need to be so polite with me. It's too formal."

Isabella had previously studied etiquette to become an outstanding heiress, and she smiled and said, "Big brother Larry, just like Brittany, you can call me Isabella."

Larry Hall spoke softly, "Okay, as the older one, I won't be polite with you two youngsters anymore. I'll treat you to a meal later to thank you for picking me up."

Isabella couldn't just agree to this matter, it depended on Brittany.

Isabella stood by quietly, smiling.

Brittany was arranging for a car, carefully looking at the license plates of the passing vehicles. However, when she heard Larry Hall's words, she furrowed her brows.

Picking up the senior brother was something she had kept a secret from Joshua.

He was returning to New York tonight, and if she wasn't there, who knows how Joshua would torment her.

So, Brittany refused, and said, "Senior brother, let's do it another day. You've been on a plane all day, and you must be tired."

Larry Hall still had an indulgent look in his eyes, without any unexpected reaction. "Okay, I'll listen to you," he replied.

Isabella watched from the side and could clearly see that Larry Hall definitely had feelings for Brittany. The affection in his eyes was almost overflowing.

She looked at Brittany, who had the same expression as before, and couldn't figure out anything.

Isabella sighed, so it was unrequited love.

Brittany's heart was still with that flirtatious man, Joshua.

She didn't know what was so good about that flirtatious man, clearly, Larry had all the qualities to match Joshua!!

However, as she thought about it, Isabella suddenly felt an ache in her heart. If she switched perspectives, comparing Sebastian and Marcus, Marcus...

At this moment, the car Brittany arranged arrived. Isabella and Brittany sat in the back seat, while Larry Hall put his luggage in the trunk and sat in the front passenger seat.

Once the three of them were settled, the driver started the engine.

At that moment, a luxury car suddenly blocked the way, and the screeching sound of brakes interrupted their path.

Then, the car door opened, and a man stepped out, leaning forward as he got out.

Isabella recognized the person getting out of the car and was stunned. Joshua?

She pursed her lips and looked at Brittany beside her.

Brittany's hands were clasped together, her knuckles turning white, and her face didn't look good.

"Bang, bang, bang." Joshua strolled over and knocked on the car window.

Brittany instinctively wanted to speak up and stop the driver from lowering the window, but it was too late.

"Miss Everly, you have a business trip to go on, come down." Joshua's voice outside was cold and chilly.

"Brittany," Isabella called out as she grabbed Brittany's wrist and shook her head, signaling her not to get out.

However, a heavy slamming sound came from the front.

Isabella and Brittany looked over and Larry Hall had gotten out of the car!

Without giving anyone time to react, Larry Hall grabbed Joshua's collar, clenched his fist, and was about to punch Joshua in the face.

Brittany's pupils contracted. Joshua had learned boxing and had participated in taekwondo competitions with Sebastian before. If Joshua fought back, Larry Hall would be beaten to death!

A flash of panic quickly crossed Brittany's face.

Before getting out of the car, she looked at Isabella with pleading eyes, and said, "Isabella, don't get out. Please, I beg you, Isabella, no matter what you see, pretend you didn't see anything."

Brittany forced a smile, and said, "Because, what you are about to witness, none of that is me."

"...Okay," Isabella said with difficulty, her heart in her throat, just one word.
