Chapter 390 Are You Seeing Someone?

"No need, I hope it can help you. If I can really find something out for you, consider it my gratitude for your previous words and the reward for keeping my secret."

Isabella was stunned for a couple of seconds before she realized that Jarod was telling her not to expose what he had hidden.

"Okay," Isabella responded seriously and turned to walk back into the house.

Peter walked to the back of Jarod's wheelchair as Isabella had already gone inside.

"You and Isabella seem to have a pretty good relationship," Peter couldn't help but say as he pushed Jarod's wheelchair forward.

Jarod accurately sensed Peter's unusual tone. After getting into the car, he asked, "What did you find out?"

In fact, since the car accident, Jarod had asked Peter to investigate the matter.

After all, Isabella had almost lost her life in that accident.

"The person behind it is that Miss Baker," Peter said, changing direction and skillfully maneuvering the steering wheel, looking ahead with a cold expression. "We have about fifty to sixty percent of the evidence. I've sent it to your email. I'll continue to investigate the rest."

"Okay," Jarod said, "Do you have anything else to say?"

"Sebastian…" Peter couldn't help but vent. "He's infuriating."

Jarod raised an eyebrow in surprise. "When he finds out all the evidence, will he let her go?"

Peter smiled and, taking advantage of the red light, turned his head to Jarod, "You know him well. But there's no solid evidence yet. Just think about it—I've already uncovered some leads; don't you think he could too? Yesterday, he paid Miss Baker a visit and didn't come out for a while. I wonder if he went there to confront her."

Jarod turned the ring on his finger without speaking, clearly agreeing with Peter's assessment.

Otherwise, when Isabella said that Sebastian hadn't found any evidence, he wouldn't have frowned.

With Sebastian's abilities, finding out these things would be a piece of cake.

"It seems in Sebastian's mind, Isabella and her unborn child don't hold a candle to Miss Baker. It's all about paving the way for someone else, from marriage to kids. I used to think Sebastian truly loved Isabella," Peter said as he drove towards the rehabilitation center, a sigh escaping his lips. "Honestly, I almost feel sorry for Isabella. Her marriage is nothing but a sham, she nearly died, and no one stands up for her. It's tragic—truly tragic."

Jarod stared out the window, watching the autumn breeze swirl the dry, yellow leaves off the ground, only for them to fall heavily back down moments later.

When Jarod remained silent for too long, Peter asked, "Was Isabella trying to ask you for help just now? What are your thoughts? Are you going to tell her?"

This was exactly what Jarod was pondering.

'Should I tell her?

'Should I choose the cruel truth or a kind lie?' Jarod thought in his heart.

Outside, the traffic was bustling, and various sounds were continuous. But inside the car, it was very quiet.

Peter's phone ringing shattered the silence inside the car.

The melodious and unique ringtone conveyed an indescribable emotion, surprising Jarod a bit.

"You're seeing someone?" A hint of life sparked on Jarod's face.

Peter coughed violently, took out his phone, and immediately hung up.

He sat up straight, staring ahead while driving. "What are you talking about?"

"Wasn't it a call from someone you like?"

If Jarod had any lingering concerns, aside from the Lawrence family, it was only Peter.

If Peter could find someone special and start a family soon, Jarod would be genuinely happy for him.

"What are you so nervous about?" Jarod said with a smirk. "I'm not going to steal your date."

Peter nearly choked on his own saliva. "Don't be ridiculous. It's just a spam call."

Hearing Peter's awkward response, Jarod thought to himself, 'A classic case of trying too hard to cover up,' and turned his gaze back to the window.

He began to think about the issue between Isabella and Sebastian.

With one hand on the steering wheel, Peter kept his left hand clenched tightly around his phone in his pocket, his palm sweaty.

His heart raced, and he could feel his face warming up. After a while, he managed to calm down, but the lingering embarrassment from almost being caught still clung to him.

Peter gave himself a self-deprecating smile, amused at his own foolishness.

His eyes betrayed a hint of bitterness.

Suddenly, his phone vibrated wildly, making his fingers tingle.

Peter fumbled with the phone, eventually giving in, unlocking it, and opening WhatsApp.

Sure enough, Amber had sent several messages, each one expressing her excitement about finding out Isabella was having twins.

[Teacher Wilson. Remember to call me when you're done. I want to ask you about work. Jarod and Sebastian are all very busy, and I don't understand much. I want to work hard to earn money for Isabella's babies.]

[I want our little babies to have the best of everything! To be the happiest babies!]

Ever since the last gathering where Peter helped Amber with her questions, she had taken to teasing him with the title "Teacher."

A few interactions later, their relationship had become much closer.

Otherwise, Peter wouldn't have been so enchanted, setting a unique ringtone just for her.

Peter replied: [Okay.]

As if afraid his infatuation would be discovered, he hastily put away his phone.

He glanced at Jarod out of the corner of his eye. Seeing that Jarod wasn't looking his way, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Peter drove in silence, but his mind was far from calm.

Amber's messages filled his mind, and he could even imagine Amber's happy and joyful expression.

To make the babies the happiest, a happy family must be one of the most important factors.

"Have you thought of anything?" Peter asked, "Should I send the evidence anonymously to Miss Wallace?"

Jarod put his ring back on, leaned back in the car seat, and said honestly, "I don't know. Matters of the heart are always tricky."

"How about keeping it a secret?" Peter tentatively suggested, "After all, it's just our speculation."

Having known Peter for so many years, Jarod knew him too well.

Jarod pressed the bridge of his nose and slowly opened his eyes. "You sure change your mind quickly."

Peter, regaining his usual composure, shrugged and turned his head. He was about to speak when his gaze landed on a familiar yet strange figure on the street behind Jarod.

He was surprised, and he quickly found a parking spot, grabbing Jarod's arm. "Over there, that person, doesn't she look like Joyce?"

Jarod followed his gaze and immediately, his eyes widened as if an earthquake had struck them.

The fleeting, familiar figure was like a shadow from his dreams that had just walked into reality.
