Chapter 448 Sebastian Is a Demon

"Save?" Marcus laughed, his face full of hatred. "He did it on purpose!"

Isabella's heart was in her throat. She bit her dry lips and retorted, "The one who saved me, saved my grandmother, and later saved the Wallace family, was indeed him, a stranger. Not you, my fiancé, or the Cooper family behind you, right?"

She thought, 'Marcus is acting very strange at this moment. What's he trying to say?'

Isabella's hand hung by her side. She wanted to clench her fist, but she had no strength and couldn't do it.

"Marcus," Isabella resumed her aversion to Marcus. "the past is the past. The current outcome is the best."

"No," Marcus's hand trembled as he clenched it. He looked at Isabella with a bitter smile. "Isabella, it's all wrong."

Isabella felt suffocated. "Then tell me, what's wrong? Just say it, whatever you have to say!"

Another thunderclap struck, and Isabella shuddered. She couldn't tell if it was the thunder or Marcus's words that scared her.

But Marcus's lips did move, though his voice was drowned out by the thunder, making it completely inaudible.

So, it must have been the thunder that scared her.

Isabella thought this as she pursed her lips. "Sorry, can you say that again? I didn't hear you just now."

There was nothing she couldn't hear. Isabella didn't think Marcus would say anything terrifying.

"Back to the original question," Marcus repeated. "Do you remember why you braved the heavy rain that night and knelt in front of the Cooper family's for help?"

Isabella replied, "The Wallace family went bankrupt, and my grandmother fell seriously ill from the shock. I needed to borrow money for her treatment."

"Yes, exactly," Marcus continued. "Mr. Wallace was conservative and indecisive, but he was diligent. Why did the Wallace Group go bankrupt so quickly, Isabella, have you thought about it? My dad wasn't that shrewd and cruel. It was only a small amount of money. Why didn't he lend it to you? Have you considered that?"

At that moment, Isabella suddenly realized how terrifying Marcus was.

She was actually afraid of Marcus.

She wanted to run.

Run far away; she didn't want to hear these questions.

These questions pointed to an answer she couldn't bear.

Isabella stood stiffly, replaying the scene of her first meeting with Sebastian in her mind.

His hands were so beautiful.

Isabella regretted not reaching out to him back then.

She now wanted Sebastian to appear, to extend a helping hand like he did that rainy night.

Unfortunately, Sebastian didn't sense her longing; he didn't appear.

Isabella wanted to see him. Her heart felt empty, and only seeing Sebastian could fill it.

Moreover, she wanted to hold his hand.

Isabella had never felt such a strong desire to interlock fingers with Sebastian as she did now.

Isabella wanted to leave. She turned sideways, intending to walk away.

Marcus grabbed her arm forcefully. "You know it, but you refuse to admit it. Fine, let me ask you again, have you thought about why Sebastian, whose place is not on the way to the Cooper family's, appeared that day?"

Dark clouds loomed over Isabella's eyes, and the thunder outside seemed to strike her head.

Her mind buzzed and roared incessantly.

Isabella held her breath. To be precise, she forgot how to breathe.

Like being pressed deep underwater, or like a fish out of water.

In any case, she couldn't breathe properly.

Isabella's heart didn't hurt, but she felt a suffocating sensation, as if she were on the brink of death.

She thought, 'Yes, just sixty thousand dollars. The Cooper family had assets worth millions. Why would they go to such lengths, making other families in Maple Valley gossip about them?'

She hadn't thought deeply about it at the time, assuming people were just cold-hearted, pushing others when they were down. But she forgot that these businessmen were all shrewd individuals.

Marcus had never seen Isabella so stiff. She stood there blankly, not blinking, her breathing slow and sluggish.

His heart ached, and tears fell from his eyes.

Marcus raised his trembling hand, wanting to pat Isabella's shoulder to comfort her.

But Isabella looked up, her eyes wide and innocent, and asked, "What do you mean? What difference does it make if I thought about it or not? What are you talking about?"

Isabella suddenly regained her composure, a bright smile on her face. "I don't understand deep questions. If it's hard to understand, just don't say it."

She took out her phone to check the time. "I'll leave now. You guys should go home early."

Isabella pretended as if nothing had happened.

"Isabella! How long are you going to deceive yourself?" Marcus would rather see Isabella cry than see her smile.

Her smile now was like a blade.

"You never deceived yourself. You were always brave, facing all problems and truths," Marcus said, puzzled. "Are you still Isabella? Is Sebastian worth you becoming like this? You were free-hearted. Are you still the same person you used to be?"

Marcus was furious. He mercilessly and clearly told Isabella.

"Isabella, listen carefully," he said. "Sebastian is a scheming devil! He used his power to hasten the Wallace family's bankruptcy, preventing the Cooper family from helping you. He forced you into a corner! All his kindness towards you is just a facade! It was all meticulously designed by Sebastian. He had his eyes on you for some unknown purpose!"

Marcus's words echoed in Isabella's mind.

However, she was puzzled.

She thought, 'If I can't understand, then I won't try to. It's unimportant.'

Isabella still had a smile on her face, her gaze fixed on Marcus.

She said nothing, not a word. Except for the occasional flutter of her eyelashes, she showed no expression, almost as if she wasn't breathing, like a robot without thoughts.

"Isabella," Marcus gripped her shoulders, shaking her forcefully, growling at her, "Deceiving yourself is useless. You understand everything! Sebastian set a trap for you, waiting for you to fall into it. Don't be a fool, don't let him deceive you anymore! He only brings you pain. You don't even know why he's plotting against you or what he wants. Leave him now, while you still can."

Isabella felt nauseous from Marcus's shaking, a sticky feeling in her chest.
