Chapter 179 Isabella, Don't Make Me Wait Too Long
Isabella walked to the opposite side of him, opened the folder she was holding, and started taking out the documents one by one, "Take a look, I've organized everything."
"Okay," Sebastian responded, taking them and carefully flipping through them, "There's an improvement from before; the analysis is good."
"If I hadn't made any progress, wouldn't that mean I wasted your teachings?"
"Next, you can start working on something else." Sebastian's finger tapped on the paper, "Do you know what it is?"
Isabella shook her head.
"Tens of millions worth of projects; you can be in charge," Sebastian said, "I will have Kaine deliver these documents directly to you. Your signature will be the final approval."
"Tens of millions... for me to be responsible for?"
Sebastian seemed to misunderstand her, replying, "Even projects worth hundreds of millions are possible, you..."
"No, no," Isabella quickly waved her hands, "I mean, wouldn't it be better if I start with projects worth just a few million?"
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, "Projects worth a few million are just overseen by department team leaders here at Lawrence Group."
"I think tens of millions are a bit too risky, considering I'm just starting out..."
"It's fine," he said, "I'll be there to oversee things for you."
Isabella was still hesitant, but she had great trust in Sebastian's abilities, so she eventually nodded, "Then I... will do my best."
"In the business world, winning and losing are common. Even if you fail, it's not a big deal; just start over."
Sebastian spoke lightly, trying to alleviate her psychological burden.
In reality, with him around, it was impossible for Isabella to fail.
Even if there were losses... well, it was just pocket change, letting his wife gain experience was worth it.
Isabella said softly, "If I incur losses, it would be quite embarrassing for you."
Sebastian: "I don't mind."
"I..." Isabella wanted to say that he might not mind, but she did.
But since Sebastian himself didn't care, there was no need for her to put too much pressure on herself, and besides...
She might not necessarily fail or incur losses.
"Alright," Isabella nodded, agreeing readily, "Then I'll go to work now."
With that, she turned to leave.
"Wait," Sebastian called out, "Is there nothing else?"
Isabella paused, "Ah? As for work, these are the things I needed to report to you."
Sebastian sighed slightly, "We've finished discussing work, what about personal matters?"
"Personal matters?" She tilted her head and thought, "Nothing else, really."
"You only ate a little bit this morning," Sebastian said, "Is it because you have a poor appetite? Or you didn't like what was served?"
"No... no, I ate quite a bit."
"You've been eating noticeably less these past few days." Sebastian frowned slightly, "Find some time to go to the hospital for a check-up."
Isabella panicked a bit after hearing this.
Going to the hospital... would mean she couldn't hide anything.
At this moment, if her pregnancy became known, Lynda might cause trouble...
"You need to go to the hospital even if you have a poor appetite?" Isabella pouted. "I don't want to go. The smell of disinfectant is too strong and unpleasant."
"But your health..."
"I'm fine, I eat and sleep well."
Sebastian slightly lifted his chin and looked at her, "You’re really not going?"
"Why go if there's nothing wrong? Sebastian, you're making too much of a fuss, I'm not that fragile."
He didn't say anything more, but from his expression, it was clear that he had his doubts.
Isabella was afraid Sebastian would notice something, after all, he had a keen eye.
She prepared to leave again, but out of the corner of her eye, she saw Sebastian stand up, walk around the desk, and quickly approach her.
Then, her wrist was caught, pulled forward, and she fell into Sebastian's embrace.
His chin rested against her hairline, "It's okay, Isabella, I'm patient."
This out-of-the-blue statement left Isabella confused, "What... what are you talking about?"
"I know that my actions in the past have hurt you. So, these past few days, I've been trying to make amends."
She remained silent.
"It seems like I haven’t yet made much progress," Sebastian said with a self-deprecating tone, "but it's okay. Things will get better, won't they?"
Isabella hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "Yes, they will."
"I will wait until the day you fully accept me and get used to my hugs and touch. But Isabella, don't make me wait too long."
She bit her lip, "The reason you don't want to wait too long... is it because you're worried I might not get pregnant soon?"
"I've said it before; you are more important."
Sweet nothings were always so enchanting.
Isabella quickly hid all her genuine expressions, replacing them with a smile, looking up at him, and even wrapping her arms around his neck, "You're so good to me; what if I can't bear to leave you in the future?"
Sebastian looked at her for a long while, his lips parting slightly, "Then... don't leave."
Not leaving meant to stay.
Did Sebastian want her to stay?
For how long? How should she stay? For a lifetime? Not divorce?
A myriad of questions flashed through her mind, but Isabella didn't voice a single one.
She simply tiptoed closer to him, "Okay, I'll listen to you."
Her appeasement and softening... actually didn't comfort Sebastian.
He knew exactly what kind of person Isabella was.
Clearly, she was now placating him, complying with him, and cajoling him.
"I'm serious, Isabella." Sebastian lowered his head, his nose brushing against hers, "You might not believe it now, but time will prove a lot of things."
Such deep affection was truly irresistible.
Isabella could only say, "We are fine now. Why bring this up all of a sudden?"
"Because you still have a strong guard up against me."
"I..." she paused, "I’m just not ready to return to our initial state of intimacy yet."
"I won't force you, I won't coerce you," Sebastian's arms tightened, hugging her more firmly, "Isabella, I really, really want to return to the way we were at the beginning."
Isabella just smiled and hugged him back, "Don't worry, you are the powerful president of Lawrence Group, why do you sound like a little kid asking for candy now?"
"Then," he asked, "if I ask you for candy, will you give it to me?"
Isabella looked into his eyes, "What kind of candy do you want?"
The two looked at each other for a long time.
Eventually, it ended with Sebastian leaning down to kiss her lips.
He kissed her very gently and slowly, as soft as a feather.
Sebastian's sweet words were conquering Isabella's heart.
