Chapter 437 The Lawrences' Apology

Sebastian caught Isabella's weird look. "What's up? Why you suddenly all worried about Joshua?"

Isabella had sworn to Brittany she wouldn't spill the beans about the kid.

So, she just shrugged. "Nothing. Just feels like the Joshua you talk about and the Joshua I know are two different dudes."

Sebastian shut his eyes, looking way more serious now. "You'll get it soon enough."

"Don't bring up other guys in front of me," Sebastian pulled Isabella closer, "Trying to make me jealous or what?"

Isabella let it slide.

Around nine, Wayne did the rounds, and Isabella grabbed her phone to text Brittany.

She shot off a message: [Sebastian just said Joshua loves you. Is there more to this?]

Brittany was probably busy at work, 'cause there was no reply for a while.

Isabella put her phone down.

Just as Wayne finished his rounds, she walked over to meet him. "Wayne, how's he doing?"

"Mrs. Lawrence, don't worry," Wayne smiled, "Mr. Lawrence is tough. He'll be fine. But he did lose some blood and the injury's near his chest, so he needs to take it easy. No heavy lifting, especially no... you know, bedroom stuff."

Isabella coughed, thinking, 'What the heck is he talking about?'

'I'm pregnant. How can I push someone who just had surgery?'

"Got it." Isabella tried to stay cool, though her ears turned a bit red. "Anything else we should know?"

Wayne gave a few more tips before leaving.

Now it was just Isabella and Sebastian in the room. Sebastian's eyes were on her, and his low, magnetic laugh was kinda hot.

"Don't be shy. Pregnant women get more... you know, than non-pregnant ones."

Isabella remembered reading that in some pregnancy book.

Her throat felt dry. "You're so annoying. I know that, okay? And it's not a big deal. Go do your work."

There was a stack of papers on the table waiting for him, but he loved teasing her.

Isabella turned away and sat on the couch, peeling an apple.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed. Isabella checked the screen.

It was a message from Brittany: [No]

Then Brittany switched topics: [Are you with Sebastian? You guys good now?]

Isabella sighed. Joshua had hurt Brittany so bad that even she didn't believe Joshua loved her, let alone Brittany who'd been through so much.

She replied: [Sort of. Don't worry about me, focus on your trip.]

Brittany: [I don't know how you guys patched things up, but if you did, try to keep the drama low. Otherwise, it'll just get worse.]

Isabella got what Brittany meant and replied: [okay.]

Brittany was busy with her trip, so Isabella didn't bug her more. They agreed to grab a meal together when Brittany got back and left it at that.

"Did you tell her?" In the quiet room, the sound of pages turning stopped, and Sebastian asked.

Isabella put down her phone, frowned a bit, and started to get it, "Since you wanted me to tell Brittany, why not just spill the beans directly if Joshua has any difficulties or concerns? If so, what are they?"

Sebastian had always kept his distance from Joshua's drama, and even now, he couldn't get involved.

He'd promised Joshua to keep his secret.

But things had gotten messy.

His guys had been tailing Joshua, and during that time, Joshua had been tailing Brittany.

Turned out, Brittany being pregnant wasn't just known to Isabella and Brittany.

He and Joshua knew too.

Sebastian knew he had to make sure Joshua's bloodline continued.

Given that, he had to drop a hint to Brittany.

"Isabella," Sebastian said, "Other people's relationships ain't our business. I've told you what I can, and you've told Brittany. Saying more would be meddling. It's up to Brittany to believe it or not. All we can do is this much; we don't have the right to make decisions for them."

He meant whether the kid could be kept depended on Joshua and Brittany.

But he didn't say that last part.

Isabella only got that Joshua had difficulties or concerns.

What were they? She had no clue.

Isabella knew Sebastian wouldn't spill more, so she didn't push it. She cut the apple into small pieces and ate them with a toothpick.

Sebastian leaned back on the sofa, watching her with a smile.

Outside, the sunlight was perfect, making the room feel all cozy. They chilled together peacefully for two days.

During these two days, Isabella stayed calm, sometimes smiling, but not much.

Sebastian didn't push her, giving her time to move on from the past.

During this time, William and his crew visited a few times, making things a bit awkward.

William came in all mad, but every time he tried to speak, the words just wouldn't come out.

He wanted to blame Sebastian for being dumb and letting Lynda go, but he knew Sebastian had no choice.

He wanted to blame Sebastian for not taking care of himself and getting hurt, but he knew Sebastian was trying to win back his love.

William sighed and finally turned to Isabella with guilt. "Isabella, I'm sorry."

William, Amber, and Byron all said similar things.

And Jarod, to avoid fighting with Sebastian, didn't show up.

Isabella thought if he did come, he'd probably apologize too.

Isabella felt it was unnecessary. She just shook her head and said, "It's okay, it's in the past."

Whether it was really in the past, Isabella herself wasn't sure.

She said it was okay, said it was in the past, so she might as well consider it as such.

She thought, 'In life, sometimes you gotta act, fool others, and fool yourself to move forward.'

On the third day after the surgery, Sebastian decided to check out.

The Lawrence Group had a ton of stuff to handle, and with Joshua MIA, Sebastian had to get back to work fast.

Isabella had thought that with Jarod's legs being fine, the Lawrence family would push him to take a spot at the company. With Sebastian in the hospital, it was the perfect chance for Jarod to step in.

But that didn't happen.

Jarod stayed the same.

Isabella had been super tired these days, her belly getting bigger each day, so she had to stop worrying about others.
