Chapter 464 Brittany, is this considered throwing yourself at me?
But seriously, what else could she do besides venting like this?
Isabella stormed into the house and slammed the door shut.
She leaned against it, running her fingers through her hair in frustration, her mind a complete blank.
Going out wasn't an option, so she had to figure out another way to get in touch with Samuel.
'But how?' she wondered. The only thing that came to mind was getting a new phone.
'So, how do I buy one?'
She didn't want to use anyone else's phone at Willowbrook Estate because she didn't want to drag innocent people into her mess. When Sebastian got mad, he was totally unreasonable and loved to punish the innocent!
So, she had to buy it herself.
Isabella didn't waste any time. She grabbed a tablet and made an online purchase.
She quickly sifted through the options and placed an order at a local store.
After chatting with customer service, she confirmed the phone would be delivered by the afternoon, which finally gave her some relief.
She sighed and felt a wave of exhaustion hit her.
She put down the tablet and collapsed onto the bed, staring blankly at the fancy crystal chandelier above, lost in thought for what felt like forever.
Her eyes started to sting, so she slowly closed them.
Isabella lay there, motionless, the only sign of life being the slight rise and fall of her chest.
Meanwhile, at the top floor of the Lawrence Group, in the conference room...
The meeting was a disaster, and the tension was thick enough to cut with a knife.
None of the department project proposals or summaries were good enough for Sebastian, who sat at the head of the table.
The executives were on edge, wiping cold sweat from their brows.
Sure, Mr. Lawrence was always strict and had high standards, but today he was on another level!
He was ruthless, rejecting proposals over the tiniest mistakes.
When the meeting finally ended, the executives bolted out of there, not daring to stick around.
It wasn't just that Sebastian was harsh; his cold stare and light tapping on the table were enough to scare anyone.
Some people just had that natural authority, and Sebastian was definitely one of them.
"How's the investigation going?" Sebastian asked, leaning back in his chair and closing his eyes once everyone had left.
Kaine, who had been saving the meeting records, stood up and answered, "Mr. Lawrence, there was heavy rain yesterday, and the hotel's electrical system had issues. The surveillance footage from half an hour before and after Mrs. Lawrence left the hotel is all blacked out."
Sebastian's tapping on the table stopped suddenly.
Kaine felt like a rope was tightening around his neck, making it hard to breathe.
Just when Kaine thought Sebastian was about to explode, Sebastian smiled.
Kaine's scalp tingled and his hair stood on end. "Mr. Lawrence, I'll keep investigating. I'm sure I can find something."
"No need," Sebastian said, opening his eyes, filled with sarcasm.
He thought, 'It's not necessary. Isabella didn't go to the bathroom; she lied to me. She actually ran off with Samuel. Even if there was surveillance, it would just show Isabella's fleeting figure as she ran away.'
Isabella, Samuel, bathrobe, bed.
These words kept flashing through Sebastian's mind, and he couldn't control his anger.
"Get out," Sebastian said, pinching the bridge of his nose so hard his fingertips turned white.
Kaine sighed inwardly, wanting to remind Sebastian to take care of his health, but now was definitely not the time to speak up.
He left the conference room, thoughtfully closing the door behind him.
As soon as the door shut, noises started coming from inside.
Kaine winced.
He knew he'd have to tread carefully for a while.
A secretary passing by heard the sounds and looked over curiously, only to be met with a glare from Kaine.
Brittany had just returned from a business trip, carrying a pile of documents.
Seeing Kaine, she stopped and asked coolly, "Kaine, is Mr. Lawrence in the conference room?"
Before Kaine could answer, the noises from inside leaked through the door and windows, and Brittany naturally heard them.
She was stunned, looking at Kaine's troubled expression, and asked, "What happened between him and Isabella this time?"
Kaine didn't dare mention Isabella's infidelity and forced a smile. "Ms. Everly, Mr. Lawrence is a bit busy right now. I'll call you when he's free, okay?"
Brittany looked at Kaine, then at the tightly closed conference room door, listening to the sounds coming from inside, and frowned. "So, it's serious between him and Isabella this time, huh?"
"Ms. Everly, if you have any questions, you can ask Mrs. Lawrence. Some things," Kaine looked troubled, "are not for me to say."
Brittany's face darkened, her heart racing. She thanked him and turned to leave.
Her face showed urgency as she held the documents in one hand and picked up her phone with the other, dialing Isabella's number.
The phone was off.
Brittany's worry turned into anxiety.
She lowered her head and sent a message to Isabella on her phone.
Focused on her phone, Brittany didn't watch where she was going and accidentally bumped into Joshua.
"Sorry," Brittany put away her phone and looked up.
Seeing it was Joshua, Brittany was momentarily stunned, her eyes quickly scanning Joshua from head to toe.
Brittany first cared about his health and came to realize he seemed to have lost weight.
Since Joshua's car accident, they hadn't seen each other.
Then she shook off those thoughts and frowned, her gaze turning icy.
She instinctively took a step back and said coldly, "Mr. Sinclair, my apologies."
Joshua's health had deteriorated, and even a slight bump from Brittany made him unsteady, causing him to lean back slightly.
However, how could Joshua show any weakness in front of Brittany?
He leaned against the wall and sneered, "Long time no see, Ms. Everly. Was that a hug you were aiming for?"
Brittany felt a wave of nausea at Joshua's flippant gaze.
She couldn't believe she had instinctively worried about this jerk and even considered having his child!
"Mr. Sinclair, you must be joking," Brittany said calmly. "I'm truly sorry for bumping into you. If you're hurt, please let me know, and I'll take responsibility for any compensation."
Brittany treated Joshua as a superior, with polite detachment. Her attitude suggested she had no interest in Joshua at all, and there wasn't even a hint of hatred on her face.
After all, without love, there is no hate.
