Chapter 222 Are You Sure It Was the Turner Family's Daughter Who Arranged It?
In the bustling elevator, Isabella heard something that caught her attention, "Who did it? Are you sure?"
Mr. Cooper's voice? Isabella was taken aback.
She almost forgot that Marcus was hospitalized in this hospital.
So, even though she could only see the back of Mr. Cooper's head, Isabella was sure that it was Mr. Cooper.
Who did it? Had they found the person who committed the robbery and assault?
The elevator stopped on the 4th floor, and Mr. Cooper, holding his phone, got off.
Isabella's hand slightly clenched, and she followed him out.
She hid around the corner, her body pressed against the wall as she held her breath, not daring to pant for fear of being discovered.
Under Isabella's watch, Mr. Cooper made a phone call in front of a window in the corridor. Whatever was said on the other end of the phone made his face grow paler and paler.
As he was on the phone, Mrs. Cooper came over, "Why are you standing here? "
Mr. Cooper handed the food to Mrs. Cooper, waved at her, and signaled her to go to the ward.
Mrs. Cooper muttered something about him being absent-minded and turned to walk away.
Mr. Cooper then spoke up, "So, are you sure it was the Turner family's daughter who arranged it?"
Isabella bit her teeth and clutched the bag of food tightly as her veins bulged on the back of her hand.
Grace! It really was you!
She wouldn't let Grace get away with it! No way!
No, it was Grace and Lynda!
These two vicious women actually wanted her dead!
"The Turner family's daughter?" Just as Isabella was lost in thought, Mrs. Cooper's sharp shout erupted in the corridor.
It turned out that Mrs. Cooper had pretended to turn around and was walking very slowly. After hearing what her husband said, she turned back.
Mr. Cooper looked around and reprimanded her in a low voice, "Keep your voice down."
Mrs. Cooper shouted, "We can't handle the Lawrence family, and now the Turner family is bullying us; aren't you going to let me make a scene? My son was stabbed and hasn't woken up yet!"
"We can't afford to make a scene," Mr. Cooper suddenly seemed to age by ten years.
He murmured with his eyes closed, "I had someone check. Behind the Turner family's daughter, there might be someone else, someone we can't afford to offend. Let's just accept our loss, from now on, stay far away from the Lawrence family, the Turner family, and the Wallace family."
Mrs. Cooper broke down into an uncontrollable sob and was told by the nurse to keep her voice down.
She covered her mouth and collapsed on a bench in the corridor.
Isabella felt like a knife was fiercely piercing her heart.
A mix of hatred, pain, guilt, and regret crashed in her chest.
It was her fault. She was the stupid woman, who fell for it. It was her who implicated Marcus, causing the Cooper family to suffer an undeserved disaster.
Isabella had never felt such a strong sense of self-loathing; she turned around in a daze and went upstairs.
Brittany was on the fifth floor, and she had to bring lunch to Brittany.
She lowered her head and began walking to Brittany’s ward, each step was very difficult.
A rumbling sound and buzzing noise was echoing in her ear, followed by steady footsteps from behind.
Unfortunately, this was also mixed in with the buzzing noise, so she ignored it.
She didn't look behind her and was fully immersed in her own world.
Upon reaching Brittany's ward, Isabella took a deep breath and pushed the door open.
"Joshua?" Isabella looked at the man sitting beside the bed, gripping Brittany's hand, and immediately snapped back to reality.
She frowned, "How did you get here?"
"Thank you." Joshua's eyes were bloodshot, and he looked haggard. "I'm here; I'll take care of Brittany."
Isabella hesitated. It was clear that Brittany was annoyed by Joshua. It would be unfair to leave Brittany in Joshua's care.
"Isabella."
She was about to say something when her wrist was suddenly gripped tightly, and a familiar voice sounded in her ear.
Isabella turned to look.
"Sebastian?"
"Don't you recognize me?"
Sebastian looked like he was in a bad mood. It was as if a storm was about to come.
Isabella didn't know how she had provoked him again.
"Why did you come too?"
Sebastian's eyes were very dark, bottomless, and dangerous. "Can't I come?"
"You misunderstood. I didn't mean that." Isabella shook her head to explain and shook her wrist, "It hurts; you're hurting me again, Sebastian."
Sebastian's fingers trembled slightly, his throat tightened, and he let go of her, bending over to take the lunch from her hand.
"What are you doing?" Isabella was displeased.
"Let's go." Sebastian ignored her, put the lunch box on the bedside table, and signaled to Joshua.
Then, he took Isabella's hand and led her away.
Isabella was in a bad mood. The source of all that had happened recently was the unpredictable Sebastian in front of her.
After being stuffed in the car and pinned in the passenger seat, Isabella sadly realized that she was like a lump of clay. Sebastian could mold her at will.
"Are you going to speed again, then slap me?" Isabella smiled, her eyes filled with desolation as she met Sebastian's eyes.
Sebastian stared deeply at Isabella, making her feel like she was about to sink into his gaze. She looked away.
She had done nothing wrong, so why was Sebastian treating her like this?
She was a person, not a pet.
Yes, she was a transaction object, a puppet wife, but she was pregnant now. She had fulfilled her part of the deal.
Sebastian remained motionless. When he looked at Isabella's reddening eyes and aggrieved expression, the anger lurking in his heart was extinguished.
He stretched out his long arm, pulled her into his arms, and pressed her head against his chest, "That slap hurt me more than it hurt you, Isabella."
His eyes were looking out the car window.
"Sugary words... Who can't say them." Isabella answered, "I just brought Brittany to the hospital, and you yanked me away without any explanation. Have you ever cared about my situation and feelings?"
Sebastian's eyes darkened slightly.
Just now, he and Joshua came to Brittany's ward together and saw that Isabella was not there, so he went to look for her.
He searched for a long time but didn't find her.
He really didn't want to admit it in his heart, but she was fickle... she went to see Marcus.
Marcus was currently staying in this hospital, on the fourth floor.
Just as he was about to go down to the fourth floor, he saw Isabella. Her head was lowered, and she looked dejected as she came up from the fourth floor.
And, she once again ignored him and walked past him.
He didn't guess wrong...
Was it because she saw Marcus that she was in a bad mood, or was she being sentimental about how two people who clearly loved each other but couldn't be together?
At this moment, Sebastian should be harshly questioning her; why did she ignore him again because of Marcus?
Wasn't he good enough for Isabella?
However, now, Sebastian, full of anger, said, "You're pregnant and still meddling in other people's affairs; are you a superhero? What will you do if something happens to you?"
Isabella found it funny and retorted, "Brittany is my friend; I can't just ignore her. If Joshua were in trouble now, could you sit back and do nothing?"
Sebastian averted his gaze, no longer looking at her. He gripped the steering wheel tightly and remained silent.
When he heard that she was coming to the hospital, he was worried that something might have happened to her and the baby. His mind went blank for a moment, and he even forgot to ask for the address.
