Chapter 393 The Only One Who Can Destroy Her Is You

Sebastian knew that Jarod was investigating him.

Similarly, Jarod would inevitably know that Sebastian was investigating him.

Chasing someone so blatantly, if not intentional, then what?

"Yes," Jarod did not deny it.

Times had changed. With just one word, Sebastian could hear Jarod's urgency.

Moreover, Sebastian could see the hints of tension and fatigue in Jarod's expression.

Sebastian was too astute not to notice Jarod's vulnerability now. If he missed it, he'd have to be considered a fool.

"You caught a glimpse of someone familiar and, without thinking, you rushed to chase after them, but ultimately, you didn’t catch up," Sebastian said, his tone unwavering, "Under normal circumstances, if you had been snapped in a picture like that, you'd pull out all the stops to make sure it never saw the light of day. There's no way you'd let that photo land in my hands.

"But today, you didn't stop it.

"I didn't expect Joyce to hold such an important place in your heart. Even a similar silhouette can make you panic."

Sebastian's demeanor was arrogant and imposing.

Jarod still maintained his gentle demeanor, but his gaze betrayed his true emotions.

He was panicking.

His Joyce seemed to have returned.

"Yes," Jarod said, "she's too important. I have to find her. I can't afford even the slightest mistake. I have to admit, over the years, you've been better at finding people than Peter and I. I need your help, Sebastian."

After years of rivalry, Sebastian had imagined the moment Jarod showed weakness.

Now that he saw it with his own eyes, he didn't feel much satisfaction.

Instead, Sebastian felt a strong aversion.

"It seems you've done a thorough job investigating me to be so sure that I would help you," Sebastian said coldly, "Don't worry, I'll help you find Joyce you're looking for. But some things you know are best kept to yourself."

It wasn't hard to hear the threat and warning in his tone.

Jarod leaned back in his wheelchair, looking up at Sebastian. "Sebastian, Isabella holds a much more important place in your heart than I anticipated."

Perhaps because Sebastian had agreed to help, the worry in Jarod's eyes slightly diminished.

He smiled warmly. "For Isabella, you're willing to endure my threats and even help me. It's truly unexpected."

Sebastian did not deny it. He confidently said, "Yes, she is indeed very important."

Sebastian had nothing to hide. It didn't matter if Jarod knew.

Because he could completely protect the one he loved.

"Then you should tell her the truth and hand over the culprit," Jarod said in a low voice, "The only one who can destroy Isabella is you."

"Jarod, Sebastian! What truth, what culprit? Are you two arguing?"

Amber wrapped her arm around Isabella and made her way up the stairs, coming to a stop right at the top.

Seeing the commotion, she assumed her two older brothers were arguing and quickly stepped in to break it up.

Her voice rang out, clear and fresh, like a string of tiny bells.

Sebastian tensed, a flicker of unease creeping into his heart.

Turning his head, he saw Isabella standing beside Amber, just as he had suspected.

"You're not really arguing, are you?" Isabella looked at Sebastian with a mix of helplessness and affection. She shook her head. "Are you a child?"

Seeing that Isabella didn't pay attention to the words "truth" and "culprit," Sebastian slowly relaxed.

He smiled and beckoned to Isabella. "Come here."

Amber's attention quickly shifted. She let go of Isabella and carefully pushed her towards Sebastian.

Then, she quickly grabbed the handles of Jarod's wheelchair and giggled. "Jarod and I won't disturb you. We're leaving now."

Amber quickly led Jarod away. After a few steps, she turned back and said, "Sebastian, propose properly!"

"Amber!" Sebastian was exasperated. Amber either made him worry or ruined his surprise.

There was really no way around it.

"The entertainment news already reported it. Blame yourself, not me!" Amber stuck her tongue out at Sebastian and then disappeared down the hallway.

In the long corridor, only Sebastian and Isabella were left.

Sebastian glanced down and noticed Isabella's flushed earlobes.

They were pink and full, so delicate that he imagined they might be juicy if bitten.

Sebastian naturally put his thoughts into action.

Isabella let out a sharp cry, feeling as if a jolt of electricity was coursing through her body.

She shoved Sebastian away with one hand, stepping back immediately, while the other hand covered her ears. Blushing furiously, she exclaimed, "Why'd you do that so suddenly?"

A glint of amusement danced in Sebastian's eyes as he looked at Isabella.

He reached out with his arm, wrapping his fingers around Isabella's arm and gently pulling her closer.

He bent slightly, his nose touching Isabella's nose, and Sebastian said, "I couldn't help myself. Why do you think it was so sudden?"

Isabella's heart was pounding. "Talk seriously."

Sebastian laughed."Alright, then I'll just do it without talking."

He pushed her against the wall, trapping her between his chest and the wall.

'This is a public area!' Isabella thought in her heart.

"If you keep this up, I won't agree to your proposal." Isabella's cheeks were so hot that they looked like they could boil eggs.

She wriggled free from Sebastian's embrace, defiantly lifting her chin.

Sebastian silently resolved to send Amber abroad.

Clearing his throat awkwardly, he glanced at Isabella, then away.

To Isabella, his bashful demeanor was just too endearing.

Isabella licked her lips and took the initiative to grab Sebastian's hand. "I was just kidding. You don't need to propose. We're already married."

She extended her pinky finger, hooked it around Sebastian's pinky, and led him towards the bedroom.

Sebastian said, "The ring is being designed. Once I get it, I'll propose."

Isabella entered the room, turned to Sebastian's awkward expression, and burst out laughing. "So, you went to design the ring this afternoon, not to buy it?"

Her laughter grew louder, "The media's gone overboard. Mr. Lawrence , you worked so hard to prepare a surprise, and all they reported was that you bought a ring for the proposal. Where's the surprise in that?"

Sebastian was very displeased.

He thought, 'I've handled it quickly, so how did it get out?

Sebastian sat on the sofa, sulking in silence.

Isabella laughed until her eyes were slightly wet, and the smile on her lips couldn't be contained.

She thought, 'Mr. Lawrence is really, incredibly cute!'

"Am I that funny?" Sebastian looked up, his eyes dangerous.

"No." Isabella wisely shook her head, boldly sitting on Sebastian's lap. "I'm just happy."
