Chapter 150 Did You Come?
He protected her, cherished her, and always appeared at her side in dangerous moments. He also liked teasing her, whenever he saw her blushing shyly, a smile would play at the corners of his lips.
When she was abandoned in the wilderness by Grace's men, he mobilized the entire Lawrence family to find her, shaking New York.
When she was harassed by the young master of the Watson family, he became furious, disregarding pleas from everyone and overlooking any personal interests.
He didn't hesitate to ruin his own reputation to ensure justice.
But... What happened after Lynda returned?
Grace continued to live carefree, using a scapegoat. Not only did she not try to hide her tail, but she also had no fear in revealing the truth to Isabella.
The Watson family solved the problem by spending money and taking Bob away.
"I can't go back," Isabella said. "I don't want to return to those times."
Sebastian raised an eyebrow and his voice deepened.
"Why?"
"Because from beginning to end, you never truly cared for me. Rather than being deceived like I was in the beginning, I'd rather know all the cruel truths like I do now. At least I won't be clueless, like a fool spinning in circles, deceived by you."
Sebastian fell silent.
Isabella glanced at him and then looked out the car window.
"I hope there's nothing you're keeping from me."
A complex expression appeared on his face.
If there were something, what would happen if she found out?
Sebastian thought that some things should forever remain buried, never to be brought up again. He didn't want her to know, otherwise she would despise him even more.
"Isabella," he said, "when you found out that Grace was the mastermind behind everything, I didn't expect you not to argue with me about it. That... truly surprised me."
"Arguing wouldn't have made a difference."
Sebastian pursed his lips.
"But I did say that if you insisted, I would take action against the Turner Family."
"No need, it's meaningless now."
Isabella cut him off.
"From the very beginning, you thought that a person like me wasn't worth falling out with the Turner Family. Now that the dust has settled, there's no point in bringing up past grievances again."
From the very beginning, she never held the most important position in Sebastian's heart. Her grievances and safety were much less significant compared to the stability of his relationship with the Turner Family.
Silence filled the car once again.
The driver focused on driving, afraid to eavesdrop on their conversation, not daring to make even the slightest noise, fearing he might lose his job.
"I must have disappointed you greatly," Sebastian said.
"Right?"
Isabella replied, "Wrong. I never had any expectations of you, so there's no disappointment."
Sebastian chuckled mockingly.
It's unclear if he was mocking himself or mocking her.
"You don't have to care so much about what I think," Isabella said.
She smiled and said, "Although I may make a fuss, I also understand what I should and shouldn't do."
"So... you don't want to reconcile with me," Sebastian pursed his lips.
"There can be no reconciliation without conflict," she responded calmly.
Sebastian pressed his lips together and asked, "So, you're still concerned about Lynda's appearance."
"I want to thank her for teaching me a lesson in life and helping me understand many things," she replied.
"Does it have to be this way?" Sebastian asked.
"We will at least spend another year together, and every day will be like it is now?"
"I..." Isabella began to speak, but his phone rang.
She looked at Sebastian.
He took out his phone from his suit pocket and looked at the screen.
Isabella casually glanced and, of all things, happened to see the caller ID on it.
Lynda.
"Hello," Sebastian answered the call, "What's up?"
Isabella didn't know what Lynda said on the other end, but Sebastian's expression remained calm like still water. He only said "good" at the end before ending the call.
He instructed the driver, "Park at the next intersection."
Isabella did not say anything either.
Once the car stopped, Sebastian picked up his suit jacket, preparing to get out.
He looked at her sideways and said, "You go back to Willow Brook Estate first. I'll return home later."
Isabella bit her lip. Sebastian had already opened the car door.
She couldn't hold back and said, "I know who called you."
His hand paused.
"You said you wanted to go back to how things were before, and Sebastian, I also want that," Isabella met his gaze, "But you see, ever since she returned, even if we wanted to have a good meal together, we would be torn apart."
She believed that Sebastian was genuinely tired of her sharp words and unpleasant tone.
She also believed that when he said he wanted reconciliation, he meant it sincerely.
In the future, he would try his best to maintain this seemingly calm life as long as Isabella didn't make a scene.
But with just one phone call from Lynda, everything was ruined.
Sebastian looked at her, his gaze deep. "Bella..."
"Go, be discreet, don't let the Lawrence family find out," Isabella stared ahead, "Don't make it hard for me."
Sebastian simply said, "I'll come back earlier."
The car slowly drove away, Sebastian remained in place, watching the car recede into the distance.
For some reason, in this moment, he had an intensely strong intuition that he had lost her.
Back at Willow Brook Estate, the kitchen had prepared a sumptuous dinner.
Isabella sat alone in the luxurious dining room, looking at the table full of dishes, but having no appetite.
None.
Even the things she usually loved to eat, she didn't want.
But...
"The taste is good."
Isabella picked up a piece of shrimp, "It's just a pity that I can't finish so much by myself."
After taking a few bites, Isabella suddenly realized something was wrong.
A nauseating discomfort arose from her stomach and traveled all the way up to her throat.
"Madam?"
The butler noticed her strange expression and asked, "What's wrong? This dish..."
Isabella drank several sips of water and waved her hand, "It's nothing, I'm full."
After speaking, she hastily left the dining room and went upstairs to her bedroom.
The butler watched her back in confusion, then looked at the dishes on the table and picked up a pair of chopsticks to taste, "There's nothing wrong."
Isabella covered her mouth, closed the bedroom door, and headed straight for the bathroom.
She leaned against the washbasin and began to retch.
Everything she had just eaten was vomited out, and she continued to retch...
Isabella turned on the tap, allowing the gushing sound to cover up her vomiting.
Finally, she felt completely exhausted, her hands unable to support her weight as she slid onto the cold bathroom floor.
She tilted her head back, closed her eyes, and tears streamed down her face.
She felt her lower abdomen.
Her appetite had been good a few days ago, wanting to eat something, but these past couple of days, due to her mood, her appetite had decreased significantly, and she constantly felt nauseous.
In addition, she had always kept track of her menstrual days...
Isabella slowly opened her eyes, lowered her head, and looked at her flat stomach, "Could it be... that you have arrived?"
Sebastian often wanted her, and every time they had sex, they never took any precautions, with the purpose of her getting pregnant as soon as possible.
